I met them in Ocean City MD. I asked if I could hang after the show and they took me with them. I hung with the guitar player, a complete gentleman, awesome experience. It was when Double Fun came out. I got a Double Fun scarf and a backstage pass 2 months later left for me at the Warner Theater in DC ticket box. Blew my mind he remembered, had no idea if ticket would be there. Wet Willie opened up for them. I met Wet Willie years before that at a place called My Brother's Bar in Alabama. I could go on, but fond memories of talented people!!

I believe that Robert what is the closest Englishmen 2 ever bridge the gap between what was happening in the UK and what was going down in the USA. Just my opinion and I believe that he absorbed quite a bit of a Lowell George into his repertoire. Robert was no slouch and could hold his own with anybody musically that he was a song stylist and vocalist just like Rod Stewart. He was a mean musician as well he could play many instruments.

I always wonder, if he were still with us, what Robert Pamler would think of the appreciation that his now nearly 40 year old songs have with people. I know that for some he kind of "sold out" with his more rocky, pop orientated songs. But for me, Robert was man of many flavours and I don't think he ever really gave up his blues roots. You can tell, from his interviews, that that's where his passion lay. Evident, I think, in some of his later stuff. His Marvin Gaye covers are a good example. I'm only 26, but I remember reading in a newspaper, I was on holiday with my father at the time, that he had died and telling my dad. I felt gutted, and so did he. I think Robert was one of those talents you only got once in generation. He's sadly missed, but I'm glad his back catalogue is there for everyone to enjoy. I know I do.

There's a sensation you create, Robs me of my sleep and I've forgotten the date My head started spinning soon as you started singing And like a fish I just rose to the bait. Hey, hey julia with your crazy sense of humor You turn fact into rumor soon as you come near A horn section you resemble and your figure makes me tremble And I sure would like to handle what's between your ears You're a temptation to a man I could not resist you and I won't if I can. You're so unexpected and whatever you injected made me feel how I felt when I sang Julia, you're a danger just like giving sweets to strangers And I think it's time I took you in hand "Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley" Sneakin' sally through the alley Sneakin' sally through the alley Sneakin' sally through the alley Trying to keep her out of sight Sneakin' sally through the alley When up pops the wife I said, ah I can't find nothing wrong with being friends cos sometimes She lets me use the car She said if you can't find nothing wrong with your mind You'd better find something wrong with her, her So I began to explain ah that it wasn't just ah what she thought I'd better find something to do with my time The fact is I've just been caught Sneakin' sally through the alley Sneakin' sally through the alley Trying to get away clean Sneakin' sally through the alley When up pops the queen Trying to double talk, get myself in trouble talk, catching myself in lies Catching myself in lies Mama just looked at me as if I was, ah, crazy And didn't even bat an eye So I began to try to explain, ah that it just wasn't what she thought I'd better find something to do with my time The fact is ah just been caught, just been caught, Sneakin, sneakin, sneakin, Trying to talk doubletalk, get myself in trouble talk Catching myself in lies, catching myself in lies Mama just looked at me as if I was crazy She didn't even bat an eye Sneakin' sally through the alley with sally Sneakin' sally through the alley with sally Sneakin sally through the alley Sneakin sally through the alley Sneakin sally through the alley

I really enjoy Palmer's versions of "Every Kind of People" and "Can We Still Be Friends?". Do I like Marvin Gaye's and Todd Rundgren's more? Yes. Love 'em. Palmer has a different voice and brings it's own funkiness. Glad I caught him twice. Also Steve Goodman. See live music folks. It's one of the best things in life!
