My nephew just made captain in December. He’d been a mate for a few years now.. he’s on a tug pushing a tanker barge . He sales from Texas to New England and back.. 3 weeks on 3 weeks off… working on being a harbor pilot..

As a landlubber I am amazed of Wan Hai 07 stern profile. I have never seen any container ships like that. The stern is like hovering above the sea level with all those containers above. Unreal.

That is a NICE cabin, love the wood ledge along the frn and the accent around the center console, plus super clean. I have been around a lot of high use machinery, mostly aircraft, and they are all beat to hell inside.

Must admit, if I was a young teen again looking at this I would be looking into how this could be possible for myself! This video will help give career ideas for younger generations that might not want to go into office work wanting a be practical and skilled career to be proud of. As an adult, I am enjoying watching these wonderful machines at work and respect to those working these powerful things which are beasts. Now I am curious on what steps you took to operate one of these tugs out of curiosity. KZfaq recommended a gem right here.

Super video :) It was really interesting, the whole crew and how the tugboat works, it's all about a coordination, cooperation and communication I'm a pilot so this is close to what I doo espacially whan I'm on the big civil airfields :)

Lool. Took me way too long to realize what was happening. At first, I thought he was being lifted by a crane and turned around or something. Then I was like...is he controlling the crane and then sail off in the boat? It soon after dawned on me is piloting a ship lol! The whole time I thought this was a sim game loool... idfk what now haha!

Dude... I've been watching simulator driving rigs lately. Then this popped up. I totally thought this was a sim at first. Wouldn't that be INSANE!?

There is a kid that plays a few games as myself who is working on a tech to bring the whole, switching seats in game to real life. He is trying to develop Cameras that are connected to booms that allow the captain to "Switch Positions" in the ship to get better views. not just camera screens. But walking around in the bridge and looking out the window gives you the impression that you are now at the bow of the ship. the images would be relayed to special window screens that would project the new image. all because of a video game. kids like 19.

when you've been playing in your sim rig for too long and stumble upon this video and think 🤨... "damn, those graphics!" 🤦‍♂

Randomly came across this video on my feed, pretty much Watched the whole thing lol. Nice POV from a tuggy! Must take some time getting used too, having the rudder controls on right? I assume thats what it is. Amazing how you can pull a big cargo ship using that rope, what is that rope rated too, and have you ever snapped one? But man the cockpit really looks like something out of a spaceship, thats pretty cool.

Ok so i was watching some sim setups/Sim videos and saw this and it took me a second to realize it was real LMAO

Week ago we were on ferry from Denmark to Sweden and I was quite suprised how maneuverable they were. Pretty difficult job.
