It was Oct 2nd 2018 and my father had been in the hospital for about a week after flatlining and losing oxygen to his brain. That night my mom had decided to spend the night in the hospital with my dad and asked if I can take her car to her house. It was during this drive, this song came on, and I was balling. This was one of my father’s favorite songs - and it was at that very moment, I knew he was talking to me through the music. I knew that night, my dad wouldn’t be coming back to us. I cried so much the entire drive to my mom’s. Just 2 short days later on October 4th 2018 at 10:10PM, he was gone. I’ll always treasure that moment I had with this song.

I feel the same about this song. Sorry for the loss of your father. I know that pain very well myself I just lost my dad in November. He was 73 fighting rare form of lung cancer stage 4 and he fought it for 8 months in remission tho recurrence was likely because it's a fast progressing cancer but he was killed in a car accident on his way home from work. He was such a fighter just for all that fight for nothing. But I've played this song so many times from the time he was diagnosed with cancer until his death. So this song only makes me think of him. I just sit back and cry my eyes out and think of my wonderful father. I love this song.💔💔💔💔💔

Thanks Chris for stirring up emotions from the past😌🥲.I’m 68 now and that jolts my precious memories when my dad would take us to the Santa Monica Pier and stay all day at the beach. Mom would bring deviled eggs and bologna sandwiches with koolaide for us. I miss my mom, dad, and my 3 brothers. They all sailed away up to paradise. Only my sister and I are left now. Our favorite place was Pacific Ocean Park, Cali. Back in the day before they closed that amusement park. Treasure each day with your family and try to take them to the park, the zoo, the beach, the lake, and museums. I hope they play this song when I’m dying so I can go in peace and sail away!

When my mother stole me away from my father and refused to answer questions about him an 8 track tape of this was all that I had to remember his existence. This song has always represented a dream of reuniting 4 me. Now I listen to it while Missing my Soul Mate and Dream of the two of us out on the open water with the Sunshine in my eyes and contentment in my Soul as everything comes full circle. Tell the people you love how you feel because one day they can disappear and you won't know if and when you'll see them again. From age to 5 to 11 I was left wondering about my Father. I finally found him and we were reunited and years later we found my half brother who was also kidnapped by His Mother. Life is a Trip Sailing is a Gift!!!! 💚💜🍀💜💚

I was 12 when this song came out, and I loved it and listened to it millions of times through my teens and early 20s..then as living an everyday life engulfed me, I rarely heard it. Now at 51 I love it even more than ever, such a beautiful song, such a calming song...thank you Christopher Cross, for giving me one of life's precious memories.

I’ve loved this song since it came out. I haven’t sailed since my best friend and sailing buddy died 5 years ago but any time I hear this song I close my eyes and I’m back out with the wind and water. It’s now my go to song any time i need to calm my nerves. Love you forever Bob.

This is MY Time Machine, takes me back to better days, days of calmness and beautiful sights and sounds! When I get back to today, I wonder; Where are these artists, what are they doing, TODAY! NEVERTHELESS, I wish them well, Christopher Cross, Billy Ocean, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, I've come to hear you once again! Blood pressure takes a nose dive!

"Sailing" always has the obvious connotation of being on water for most, but to me its more about sailing in ANY form you can to get where you want to be.

You are right! This song makes the obvious to be unbelivable because those decisions you make to be happy are the most beautiful!!

This song reminds me of my twin. (We are fraternal) He passed and today it played when I was really struggling. It’s three days before the anniversary and I’m moving away from a really toxic environment finally and this played in the heat of it all. I know it’s my twin. It took me back to riding in our old station wagon with my siblings to Zuma beach. It was our favorite place to go in the summer. Brought me back to that clear lovely moment of riding in the way way back with my twin. 💕🎶

I've just clicked after about 30 years, I have found one of the most beautiful songs from my childhood, a song that reminds me of my upbringing with my siblings & my now gone beautiful loving parents. I cried my leg off,but guess what, they were tears of both joy & sadness. The evolution of life really passes us all by.
