Sailing to the most northern town on earth Ep 42

Finally we arrive to Longyearbyen, the worlds most northern town! We have to do some maintenance and cut off one of our dagger boards that broke while sailing. The weather is on our side and we spend some really pleasant days in the capital of Svalbard!
We might not have the best film quality, but it is authentic.

The HDPE grids on the pontoon are what Skip Novak has on the stern of his Pelagic series vessels - he calls them "Bomb bay doors." Excellent stuff for lining an anchor-chain locker etc.

Hi Jeanette, Fredrik, wow I've never been that close to a glacier before, I could feel the cold from Aussie 😂, very comfortable sail. Where can I buy a shirt with your logo on it please? I would love it very much to have the Swedish compass, like the one Fredrik was wearing. I really enjoy ur channel and the places u visit. Thanks for sharing 🌈🇦🇺🇸🇪 such incredibly stunning scenery and a tall ship, I feel so close as if I'm there with you both, it's truly beautiful.

Glad you are enjoying the ice down under 😀 We have printed a few shirts with our logo that we use onboard and never thought that someone would be interested in having the same 😉 So we don't have a plans for this, let us have a think about it 🙏🏻

I am so happy that I found you're KZfaq channel yesterday😊🙏 This is what sailing is about, exploring and enjoining. I really like you're sailboat, it made me interested in looking more into Boreal 55 oc. So practical, safe, secure and good looking. If I purchase a 55 oc, would you recommend a bow thruster? It's not a small ship and in area where you going it could be strong currency and wind. Just a thought I have now when you're videos has made me crazy to know more about this boat 😊😅 Hilsen fra Norge/Bergen

interesting cockpit cabin, where you can be easily protected from bad weather and cold, but still have a nice view and a good control on the boat.

Too bad you didn't get to visit the Polish station. I had been looking forward to it. The sheds are not actually bus stops but are sheds for mailboxes. The only bus on Svalbard is between the hotels and the airport. 🙂

The boat is 55 feet and we guess we would be around 18 tons when fuelled up. We have a Spade 160 anchor, 35kg. 😀

We hope it wasn't our video that gave the impression it's a boring place :-( We found Longyearbyen very interesting, and of course filled with all sorts of "tourists" and we'd like to add we loved Svalbard and hope to return. And for us it is the journey that is the most interesting, not the destination.

Well, of course, it was just my impression that the landscape looked empty? If I compare that to Faroer or Lofoten if feels that way. And it is a long way to get there.
