Living on a bluewater sailing boat with a sea dog presents all manor of challenges. However, none of us would have it any other way. Having our best friend (Hank the Hungarian Vizsla) come on this around the world sailing adventure with us will make the entire experience all the richer, and we're both really excited to show him the world.
We only have about 6 months of preparation left before we cast off into the big wide world. There's much to be done on the boat, as well as skilling up ourselves.
Follow along on our adventure and life less ordinary, as we go from the 9-5 rat race and a mortgage, to our very own floating tiny home, living off grid and exploring the world.

love it hank sound asleep at the end. and he was not having it cold water to swim instead of food the man knows what he wants. you blessed a great dog a beautiful woman that has no fear of going up the mast to work, very nice boat to sail on, and you cleaning heads great combination hope its same as the one i watched earlier

I'm sure when we're busier we will publish more frequently, but recently we had a hard drive failure (with most of our footage from several recent trips) and a broken leg (only just healed three weeks ago) so there has been reasonable gaps in our updates 😬

Thank you for a very welcomed update of your adventure. Magic intro to the episode, just love the drone shots with Cadoha under sail, certainly looks impressive. Great job Carly with the mast job, for a few seconds I wondered why the swabby Dom was not helping...then I remembered the broken leg....... i always have a morning coffee and catch up with you folks, very relaxing for me to have the escape! Thanks for sharing!!

Love the Hank speech bubbles. What breed of dog is he? The Murphy's Corollary of Sod's Law of Sailing is when you berth perfectly in challenging conditions there isn't a soul within 50 miles. When you foul up every cockpit and walkway in the marina is crowded with expert sailors watching you as they sip their G&T's. One advantage with a heavy boat like the Warrior is that you can maneuver predictably at slow speeds in windy conditions much better than many of the more lightly built mass production boats around today. Kudos for the mast climbing. I have always hated it. My next boat will have to have a tabernacle mounted mast so I can lower it easily. Don't worry about the mast. It is how it is designed. There is a big strong internal sleeve inside.

Mark Turner hey! Hank is a Hungarian Vizsla - our little ginger fur baby. Yes, too right! Luckily I (Carly) don’t mind climbing the mast at all, although only ever done it whilst tied up in a marina 😉

@@CadohaAdventures Wish I'd had you for crew with my 38. The 56ft air draft is not my favourite thing about the boat. She is on the hard in Maryland up for sail now, so I will have to climb it no more.

@@CadohaAdventures The plan is to get something smaller when I retire in 2021. I don't have enough leave from work at the moment to care for and use the boat as she should be used, so after 15 years I have put her up for sale so someone can care for her properly as she deserves. I have plenty of sailing opportunities on friends' boats to more than fill any spare time I may have. The plan is to get something in the 25 to 35 foot range -ideally n Elizabethan 31 - looks a bit like a Warrior 38 superficially. They are good easily managed passage makers as well as coastal and creek crawling. Great new intro! 👌🏼 drone footage up the mast epic also! Still haven’t tested my 3D printed handle! Maybe if you go out sailing could let me come give it a try! 😂 (also get measurements for your mavic?!) hank talking bubbles are HILLARIOUS! Keep them coming hahahaha. I’m back home now and on leave if fancy meeting up and grabbing a beer....not much else to do in this weather! I’m decorating the new house 🤘🏼 the team cadoha fist bumb was incredible 👊🏽

Beer in the village sounds good. We're just knocking odd a truck load of chores right now, so we're about, but not getting out as much, although will still look for good weather windows. We've been doing some racing with Eddie to help us get more miles under our belts, and I think he wants us to help him in the winter series, so hopefully getting out on the water some more 🤞🏼🤞🏼🙏🏻

Good one. I recognise that swimming style, and I have had one of those docking experiences, crunched my transom on a pole rather than hit other boats though. Overpowering a real problem for beginners.

Yes, we're well aware how novice we still are, and so we try to only come and go (from our berthing) in a slack tide, although we've been fine a couple of times on a neap flood tide when it wasn't too windy.

Peter T No reason, I'm sure there will be many more rookie mistakes along the way, ha ha. I imagine that one day in the future, we'll look back on some of these videos and think to ourselves 'can you believe we did that, or that, OR THAT?!' When at the time we thought we were doing everything right. I imagine sailing to have a very strong dunning kruger effect, over time, certainly with us anyway.

bosun chair is ok , but a little bit of advice , back that up with a climbing harness , most chairs are not as rated as a proper climbing harness .. I always use a climbing harness and a chair .. good vids tho ...

A very nice video. Do you think a vizsla would be well suited to long trips on a sailboat? I would like to have a vizsla to keep me company during my sailboat trips around the Mediterranean, but I am afraid that it will not adapt well to the confined space because they are so energetic. Hey there. If I had a boat first would I personally get a Vizsla? No. Hank, thankfully seems really great on the boat but we do take him for huge walks every day and only day sail with him. So we have to work around Hanks needs too. I’d probably get a cat if I wanted a pet onboard, but all the red tape that now comes with moving them around (for us, post Brexit) means that after Hank leaves us, I won’t be getting another pet whilst living on a boat.

@@CadohaAdventures Thanks for your quick response. The information has been very valuable to me because it comes from the direct experience of navigators. My friend has a Spanish water dog and he is very happy with him because he is very well behaved and he is a great swimmer. But as you have said, they put a lot of bureaucratic obstacles when traveling to countries outside the European Union. The vizsla is a dog that I have always liked because it is very affectionate, but I think that the animal would suffer during a journey such as, for example, from Galicia to the Canary Islands or the Caribbean. For this reason, and because of your wise advice, I think the best thing for me is to wait for when I am older, stop sailing and live in a house in the country 😅. Thank you for your advice and may you have good winds during your journeys. Greetings.

Not really sure to be honest, It was like that when we bought it, and the guy that looked the boat over for us didn't seem too fussed about it when asked about the rivets.

Great video as always - living the dream that I hope to follow in your footsteps one day. BTW I learned so much about what I do wrong with breast stroke from the aerial shot of the lady swimming with perfect breaststroke technique!

@@CadohaAdventures You should let us all know if you fancy some paying crew on your practice sailing days, or via Patreon, before you set off. Many would enjoy a sail with you (speaking as a Sussex-based novice Day Skipper myself). But understand if you want to practice double handing before you set off on your big adventure.

Andy UK - SY Corrival - Rival 32 the plan is to haul out, do the anti fouling, change anodes etc. We have a huge list of things we want to get through and then head to the Med come spring time 🤞🏼🤞🏼 As I say, still lots to do in terms of boat work and skilling ourselves up 😬🙏🏻
