I have seen a guy with a underwater camera mounted on the bow which had a wide angle lens to give a view of what the bottom was coming up and it seems to work for him. He didn't leave the camera down all the time just when he was coming into shallow area. Diffrent things for diffrent folks. Have fun. I enjoy your videos.

I love the look of the spot and ill bet the snorkelling is good because its not a tourist spot. I was going to scope out the three day forecast to do an overnighter there but I know it is a bit exposed. Thanks for your input. Love your videos, your livin' the dream man!

Thanks Pat, glad you enjoyed... and Tobago Cays is certainly more popular than they were then, but you can still find quiet places during off season if you look hard enough! ;)

We anchored there overnight, but weather would definitely be a consideration, especially for coming in and out of the pools through the reefs

There will always be the new 'greatest' thing out there that you seemingly can't live without... sooner or later it boils down to just being a real sailor and actually 'watch' for danger when you know it exists. Those that put their faith in electronic 'safety' are almost guaranteed to suffer a nasty peril.

If you mean the one that we arrive at in Tobago Cays, yes it is only a day anchorage, we pull out of there and head back to Union Island or Mayreau for the night typically

I like your videos. I would like more sailing and approaches and if you could show us on the chart at the start of each trip to and from where it would be great to help me put the sailing into perspective. Finally tricky pilotage routes would be fun to watch as long as they are explained. Keep them coming I like the longer series ones of actual sailing where we hear about the crew.

Yes, windward side of Canouan, entrance from the South... tight between the reefs, watch your charts, and only go in with sun high in sky if you aren't familiar with area.

Our most popular video on the channel is called "Perfect Day of Sailing", but it encompasses sailing, motoring, anchoring, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, dancing, etc... point is, there is only so much you can fit in a title, the rest is why the description is there, and I'll think you'll find it to be accurate to the video. Like I said, if you didn't like that one, have a look around, there's likely plenty of others that you may enjoy better. Maybe our "Sirens of Sailing" perhaps?

Had one on the boat for several years, was pretty cool but not dependable to the point of telling you about individual rocks or coral heads, and that's usually what you need to watch out for. It died a few years ago and never bothered replacing it. Thanks for watching though, and more coming soon!

Oh I forgot there is also sidescan sonar that can look forward and out to the side 150ft plus look down and take the sidescan image and turns it upright so you can understand what you are looking at, that is new.

Your video is inspiring. We sailed on a crewed charter in 1975 from St. Vincent to Granada - probably why we became sailors. The Tobago Cays were the best part as we spent hours on our own island beach, snorkeled with a basking shark (the skipper had a spear gun), had another island beach to ourselves to barbeque. I'm assured that solitude would be hard to match now. We are now living the Rideau Waterway (UNESCO world heritage site) My videos are not nearly as good as yours!

We love the Grenadines and will have to work our way into the pools at Canouan this season. Not really a stop off anymore since the reef had a fee inches shaved off. The bay is now too rolly. Thanks, well look for you this year. How's the summer season been?

I've always wondered whether that spot is day anchor or do you move back into the main anchorage in the late afternoon.

I don't mind hearing anyone's opinion at all, 1.4Million viewers I've heard lots... having said that, the channel is called "AmbientRealLife" so if you consider it boring it may just not be for you, no point criticizing.. even the description says "join us as we hoist anchor" etc... just sayin...

You are fortunate Rick Moore to have stayed in that area. Anchoring in the pools on that side of Canouan is no longer permitted. We anchored in the main harbor on the other side. It was amazing, but not quite as amazing as that. WOW! -From a credit card captain...lol

Rick I hope you get this. I've been following your vids and subscribe to your channel. I'm going back to the grenadines this summer and want to know exactly where are 'The Pools' are. It looks like they are on the windward side just up from the south end.

Is it day anchorage only or is it ok overnight?
@thegrayknight71

Good video. Thanks. Beautiful girl. Will the anchor always dig itself deeper into the bottom or will the anchor sometimes just drag on top of the sand without getting stuck to something? And do you sometimes have problems getting the anchor up/loose? I mean, if the 2-3 tips/teeth of the anchor is stuck under a big rock, it sounds like it's sitting well.

Do you realize that even 150' warning on a boat traveling at only 5-6 knots means nothing more than a 6-10 second alert? That is nothing if you are not even at the wheel because you are confident your gadgets are keeping an eye out for you.

I would use a forward looking sonar. They can look 150ft infront of the boat at the contour of the bottom. No surprize's.
