The graphics in mega are slightly better than snes, the sprites from mega drive are bigger than snes version.

@@tohruadachi7509 But the MD version has a broken Jupiter, a weak as hell Mercury, and a Venus who has slow animation, and a weak attack in her chain attack. Not to mention the speed does not work for the game due to enemies matching your movements, and quickly surrounding and overpowering you. And on a bigger screen, the sprites look very similar. And the biggest weakness the MD version has, a stupidly expensive price tag, prepare to sell an arm, a leg, and a first born for a nice complete copy.

The genesis version has more interesting cinematics and better art direction in many instances. Even with a reduced color palette, it comes off with slightly more visual appeal overall.

I have both Cassetts and I think they are both good. To break it down: Mega Drive + & - +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Gameplay has in game text and each player has their own ending on Hard mode.スートーリー！ Sound Track is a Yamaha FM masterpiece. I have a Model 1 MD so I always use my headphones.耳のキャンディー！ Animations for sprites and Sailor Soilders have more frame rated animation. Yume Land (Dream Land) at night Stage!オールナイトニッポン！ Special Queen Matalia Stage!魂斗羅！？！Contra!?! NO! Sailor moon XD! Double Tap Dash moves! メガ―パーワー。。。ムーン？ SAILORVENUS 悪魔城ドラキュラ バンパイヤキラー MODE! she fights like the Belmont with her love me chain.... wait! that was a sailor moon R move. WHY JAPAN!?! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One Player only! NOOOO I wanna fight with a fried in co-op! どうしたの？淋しい。。。ひとりで。 Voices are using old hardware so they sound very compressed and static like!もしもし！❕！誰だ？ Lower Resolution and Color Pallet.あらら are the walls really necessary?パ・ドン。。。後５分！やったね！ The story us a little different, but that is because it is a in game only story. ( That kiss from Usagi and Mamoru)チュッ！ Original story that is closer to the Anime, because it is the first version of this game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I enjoy the soundtrack from both games.... but the MD Yamaha Fm chip is Awesome! (SFC Music in future games) Gameplay a little sluggish。 Bosses have cheap blocking moves and take toooo long to defeat. そして！My Synopsis! The MD is a remake of the sfc version so it is like a reboot of the SFC version. Usagi dreams the Dark Kingdom is brought back to life so they must defeat them again. Only the second stages of the game and the D-Point stages seem similar. The rest cant be copaired because they are unique to their version respectivaly. I love BOTH OF THEM!!! GET THEM! PLAY THEM! ONEＭＯＲＥ thing! The MD version has those annoying composite video rainbows on things that are suppose to be white. That is a MegaDrive video AV error. Even the white text has a rainbow look.

I hope you didn't pay too much for that MD version. Going by videos of people game hunting in Japan, the shops always have this one in the glass cases, and the price stupidly expensive.

Mega Drive version is up to 1 player only. SNES version is up to 2 players at a time.

...not. It's limited to one player. Playing this Sailor Moon game on a Super Famicom has a two player mode, so a friend can join in.

Gameplay is where it matters, and the MD doesn't quite have it perfected. Play the MD's hard mode, and see how well that goes. Make sure you use Sailor Mercury too, and see how they dumbed her down.

@@Bloodreign1 except multiplayer, MD version is superior to SFC version. special are faster to launch, making them more useful, each characher have more move(dash jump, a new special and a new throw) and more unique movelist (jupiter was pretty boring in snes), the game have more ending, adding replay value.

@@otakuetsamere Correct, plus the sequel ... he unfortunately will have to play the SNES version since the continuation Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R only exists on the SNES. Which makes me think ... if they had continued on the MD as it would be.

@@otakuetsamere Jupiter is highly broken on the MD version, so no to that one. Faster speed also leads to enemies surrounding you and breaking out of your combos, something that does not happen on the SFC version, plus the SFC versions pacing to me feels far better, and you stand a chance against multiple enemies on screen. Myself and a few others on the Shmups forum had a discussion about this game, and the 2 SFC beat em ups, and going by what they said by playing all of them, the MD version would rank third out of three home console beat em ups. And another small thing, when you pick a character, each one gets the Sailor Moon R eyecatch background as their background, which is completely wrong since the game is based off of the first season of the anime, plus each character gets that same backdrop, while in the SFC version, each character gets a unique backdrop. Outside of the first boss on the SFC version having a weird invincibility window upon wakeup, everything else seems to have a proper hitbox. The MD version is faster, but speed kills in this game. I've played this one, and the SFC versions many, many times, yes, the MD version is fast, Sailor Moon R on SFC is also fast, but like the MD version, enemies can quickly overpower you, especially in the later stages where the gold and silver "slime women" can catch you off guard, capture you, and do crazy damage on you before you can escape. In the MD version, all 5 Sailor Scouts are not properly balanced at all. I find the one SFC to MD anime game that seems to be the same for both consoles, the Shin-chan game. Amd the games biggest knock, and I am not sure why the hell they designed it like this, if you have a friend who wants to play the MD version with you, too bad, it's one player only. The SFC version of the game, and SMR have a 2 player option, a big bonus in any belt scrolling beat em up (a sin the first Final Fight on SNES faced). Even the Streets of Rage games on the MD had 2 player fun.

I prefer the SNES version but the Genesis version has a lot of great things going for it. I love how the theme music sounds like for the Genesis vers a lot more and I love the intro. There's also a really nice prologue at the beginning and there's an extra boss fight at the end if you play the hardest difficulty. What I don't like about that version is the soundtrack (the music doesn't sound bad, its just not very Sailor Moon) and some of the stages aren't so good compared to the SNES. (The Silver Millenium stage isn't as nice as the SNES) It's a shame there weren't more Sailor Moon games for the system. Would have loved to see Sailor Moon R for the Genesis and hell even a proper Sailor Moon S game that wasn't just a fighting game. Lots of wasted potential....

SEGA wins. Dropping multiplayer in a Sailor Moon game was a huge sacrifice, but the game is more faithful to the anime. With NO villains left out. Genesis/MegaDrive wins.

Except the game doesn't play as well as people credit it for on the MD. Enemy hit detection is crap, they can hit you long before you can hit them on the MD version, and they attack so fast, and mob on you so fast, that a multiplayer option should've been a must on the MD version. Play it on very hard to see how unfair the enemy can be. MD version does not win, a major blow against it right there.

@bee boo Real quick, I hope, hope, hope you have calmed down over the years. I personally own a Genesis, a PS1, and an Atari 2600. Yes, sega has done alot of shitty dumb things, but you know. They had higher quality pixels when it comes to th 16-bit era. They had amazing games for the time, and you just dont want to accept that. I believe both Nintendo and Sega fucked up alot, but I wil continue to support everything they bring to the table and not fight over who is who's favorite.

Gameplay, music, and visual-wise is a true curbstomp in the Mega Drive's favor. Other than that, it's very close. Oh, and tossing trolls out a glass elevator is satisfying as hell.

Not sure. Probably completely different. SNES has a more detailed attract mode btw. Other than that, SNES version plays like the sluggish Spider-Man: The Video Game for the arcade. Genesis feels faster and smoother. I'm also very disappointed that the two title intros aren't simultaneous. A Sailor Moon orchestra of both SNES and Genesis chips would be music to my ears.

I actually agree, the SNES version has choppy and stiff animation, where the SG version is smooth as silk. Plus the SG version is the better playing brawler. It has the better soundtrack too.

Sometimes you can punch through enemies without connecting on the MD version, hit detection is not perfect at all. The SFC version seems to have that issue with the first stage boss, after that, not at all.

Acho a versão do mega bem melhor,ela não tem poblema de quando você está fazendo um combo e o inimigo te acerta no meio do seu combo, além de ser mais rápido,tbm tem ataques especiais com comandos de jogos de luta pra cada sailor e esses golpes ajudam pacas,além de ter super pulor,e a magia segurando o botão ser bem mais rápida,as fases do mega tbm são mais interessantes,a versão do mega tbm retrata melhor algumas referências nítidas ao anime. SNES só ganha em som,cor e gráficos mais bem polidos,fora isso a versão do mega e superior em tudo

Genesis version has no co-opplay,someone majorly screwed up there, so no, it doesn't win. It is however an excellent game, that sadly has gotten extremely expensive for a copy of it.

I'd go with Mega Drive, it has much better graphics and sounds overall. In my opinion the SNES seems abit too "upbeat" and Mega Drive looks more "Serious", which is good. I'm just lucky to have a Mega Drive AND the game. I'm British and the game works!

According to me both are great animations and sound even levels both have their unique levels, but what I find only thing which is better on mega is the character response in fast however in SNES it founds slight laggy or slow which makes you hard to fight if enemy is near you because before your char. Respond the enemy hit you and that's what SNES fails other wise both are great in other ways I gave them equal points🍹🍷

The SNES version may have slightly better graphics, but the Genesis has the definitive version. Better soundtrack, way more backstory and cutscenes, and second to none gameplay. IMHO, the Genesis version is the best of ANY Sailor Moon game out there. The only other that comes close is Sailor Moon S on the Game Gear. I challenge anyone to tell me otherwise.

What about resolution? Like 90% of MD games have a superior resolution, almost always 320x224 against 256x224 from the SNES.

Eben335, to get an intro, you lose a 2 player mode, a key ingredient to a beat em up, and one of the dumbest decisions ever made by a game developer to axe the option. Every other beat em up Sailor Moon is multiplayer, both SFC games, and an arcade game from Gazelle. Boast about your intro, it is the only thing you have to grasp on to. Hell outside of Final Fight on the SNES, every other beat em up is 2 players, some up to 4, some up to 6 (X-Men arcade).

MD version is just too expensive for it's going rate these days. Yes, the SFC version plays slower (corrected in the next game, Sailor Moon R), and it's the version I own as it's affordable, but the MD version being so expensive means I'll never own a copy....unless I get lucky like occasionally I tend to do. The two games however, couldn't be more different to compare.

SEGA-Fanboy says: SEGA has the better intro. Unfortunally the game seems to be a bit dark on SEGA and I like the design of the first level more in the SNES-version. 7:15 - Kicking dudes out of the elevator is cool and reminds me to Streets of Rage. This wins SEGA. 8:10 - SNES-version sux hard. Twilight-zone? Hm, a mix would be nice. Street-level of SNES, then elevator of SEGA and again finishing map on SEGA. All in all: SEGA takes the cake, but both versions could do better. Animations are fine on both.

Lot of Sega fanboys still upset that Nintendo trounced them in the console war is what you see in these kinds of videos on this channel (including the channel ownerwho is a Sega fan). They should be more pissed at Sony, who buried them, and the heads of the US and Japan branches of Sega who screwed up tons.

This is an odd case of the SNES having more colors working against it. Also the gameplay is nowhere near as fast paced.

The fasterpacing hurts the MD's version, and is sort of a detriment in Sailor Moon R SFC's case, though the latter is actually balanced better despite being just as fast as the MD's game.

Lo unico que aveces destaca y con lo unico que se defienden los fans de snes es los gráficos :v y no toman en cuenta que en Mega Drive se ve un acabado bonito en los detalles graficos para poseer menos colores y ningún efecto gráfico, incluyendo que la música es mejor en megadrive qué la tipica de toque orquestada de Snes

I've played both versions through, and while the SNES version does have better graphics and music, it feels... very clunky and slow while actually playing. The Genesis version felt much more precise and easy to handle, and only sacrificed on graphics and music by a small margin in comparison. So Genesis version definitely wins this one. ...also, the SNES version lacks the ability to defenestrate youma while riding in a glass elevator, so yeah...

Nope, no co-op play, a key essential to a belt scroller beat em up. That right there absolutely puts the stake in the MD version's heart. Blame Arc Systems Works for that huge oversight.

SNES has cool animations for idle things and losing as well as better sound quality (though it has the inferior music) but Genesis is better in everything else.

Play it in hard mode,pick Sailor Mercury, your mind might change. I was higher on the game too, till I picked her, hard mode, and promptly enemies were breaking out of any punch combo I could muster up, especially if a second enemy came from behind. Most games of this genre give you an invincibility frame or two while you are attacking one enemy and another attacks, but not this game.

I listened to the entire OST of both games, watched both games in action, and seen everything they offer and... sorry, but the Genesis version easily wins again. Only thing the SNES version has against the Genesis version is 2P mode.

Hit detection on enemies is poor on the MD version, they can hit you before you can hit them, that to me is a major minus against that version. Only the first boss on the SFC version seems to have any hit detection issues. To me the speed of the MD version hurts it as enemies are too quick to mob up on you, giving you little to no chance to successfully survive with no damage. Plus the multiplayer, the MD version sorely needed it due to the mob mentality of the enemies in the MD version. Sorry buddy: Winner: SFC version, as there exists no SNES version (outside of France, an odd place for a release). Yes I am aware the game came out in France, a majority of people who have played it played the Japanese version. It plays a bit fairer, isn't a trainwreck with speed, enemies don't gang up on you nearly as fast as the MD version, giving you a fighting chance. Beryl is also quite a bit fairer on the SFC version, the MD version she has an unpreditcable fast moving lightning attack that you cannot successfully avoid. Jumpkicks in the MD version also hardly connect as the enemies move too fast for them to be effective. MD fans are better off playing the Streets of Rage series, as that actually doesn't feel like playing something from Benny Hill on fast forward.

Yeah, an odd place to release, because it turns out than in 1994 that was one of the few countries of the world to actually have the Sailor Moon series airing, together with Spain and Italy, so that's the reason why all three of these countries actually got a PAL localization of the SNES game released in late 1994, because financially it made all sense, just like France and Spain also got several SNES and Mega Drive Dragon Ball Z games released during those years for exactly the same reason. What were you expecting, North American releases of all of them when all the respective series were non existant there? Be glad that the SNES Ranma 1/2 fighting game was released in North America together with the European countries because that was one of the few animes actually making to North America by the time of the 16 bit console generation.
