Your instructions on the lanyard knot worked a treat! My first one I gave to my eldest son because I made it in camo para cord. I just ordered some 550 in red to make many of these for the treasure chest. I belong to a group of traditional small boaters. Each July we have a treasure hunt that culminates in “finding” a treasure chest buried on the sandbar by our Captain Morgan. Besides lots of costume jewelry and rum, there are some useful bits, and bobs. These will be good addition.

It’s a wonderful tutorial John! I have a couple of zipper pulls made from para cord from my late friend Louie Bartos, of L B Sails, in Ketchikan Alaska. He used to make them and give them away as gifts. Now thanks to you, I can continue the tradition! He wrote a wonderful little book on making a Sailor’s Ditty Bag, and Sea Bag. Lovely closer for my knife lanyard. I previously just had a figure of eight connecting two loose ends together but now it looks so much nicer with the bonus of a closed loop on the end which is much more secure than before, Thanks!

Nicely explained. I do similarly for zip pulls, but use a Matthew Walker Knot followed by a Double Diamond Knot, teasing both working ends out to make little tassels. Cheers, Al

About knotting materials, a local charity thrift shop always seems to have a stock of old "new stock" shoelaces. The laces are varied in style, color and length - but they seem well suited to the task. And they a lot cheaper than paracord. The shop also has a tub filled with used golf balls - which are grand cores for monkey fist and globe knots.

Very helpful. Do you have a tutorial for doing a turks head slider knot. The single is for the bosuns call, then the top double is a slider to adjust the length and wear in eppaulets of the uniform, also sometimes flat braided as well in the loop.

I'm curious as to how you would finish a working lanyard that would be attached by a snap hook to a belt loop and the overall length would be between 4 & 6 in total length. In the doubled version when you chase it out can you stay on the right side or do you need to chase on the far side? I shouldn't think it matters, to lazy to see on my own it's early in the morn.

As it comes to the end, it is a little bit confusing, despite the thicker cordage (it might be cause on the rope-pattern). Anyway, it is a very well tutorial and I am grateful for your efforts and time you had spent in order to share it.

...I had just learned (by accident) that a fella might learn some Very Cool knots using U-tubes tutorials...scrolling down...down...down and...What he heck? By God here is a one armed ships Rigger...Imagining...pulling himself up the tallest mast ladder...pull with the good arm then again grip using strong Teeth..extending legs then once more... pulling with the one arm...Straight away I Knew I found a Seamen that Must! posses some truly "Mad Rope Skills". That was some two years ago and I have yet to be disappointed. Have been practicing non stop and feel like I have at least one leg to stand on now before leaving comments or ideas...One time my dear father informed me..."Best to remain silent and be thought a fool...than to speak and remove all doubt"...during this time ....Hats off to you...Marked improvement...like night vs day... lay out of the U-tube channel much improved...visually stimulating (more interesting) flashy colors and new custom fonts...Very Bold, confident, and Professional....some time in the near future I would like to show you my take on a couple of your ideas I have developed as my skills have improved...the ultimate goal for me is to be able to tie what I can clearly see in my minds eye..quickly...with no additional tightening after deducing...just saves so much time.
