The Tuzu is not a pen that's currently on my list, but it's a good thing to be able to see what's available and hear the opinions on it.

Thanks for the review. I was skeptical of this pen because I don't like feedback. You have helped me decide to delay buying this pen.

Years ago Shaeffer had a simliar arangement on model of fountain pen. But they used a key-like device that would rotate your angle writing. This was over 50yrs ago! Their model had a silver housing. Thank you.

Hi Mr.V! Thanks for your review of the Tuzu! Might pick one up sometime, just because of the adjustable feature. Really, I consider the Safari a better bargain and I am also a big fan of the Diplomat Magnum. It is a little too small for most folks, but I LOVE that pen! Really nice nib, ink window. Now the supplied converter is the cheapest thing I ever saw, but I replaced it with a better one. Have a good week!

Hi Vincenzo, I was waiting your review, and the second after you have started to write with this nib, I knew I will buy it. The noise on the paper is .... the noise of the sailor nibs. Unhappily the lamy Safari is I believe the only pen I can't use, due to the grip really uncomfortable for my fingers. I'm also really interested to see if the rotation of the grip can overcome my problem, which could perhaps help me to discover why many people love the Safari grip. Thank you for the review !

Hey Vincenzo, thanks for the informative review. It's an interesting pen, but alas it's not for me. I say that because the distinguishing feature would be wasted on me. I have a very straight forward conventional tripod grip that doesn't require the kind of adjusting this pen can do. After all, even with my large hands I can write with a pen slightly smaller than a cigarette to a giant of a pen like the Ranga model 5 and everything in between. The Lamy style grip doesn't bother me either, and many of my pens have a similar grip without it being as pronounced as my Lamy Al-Star. Even that Tuzu has the slimmer grip slants, but what sets it apart is the ability too change the positioning of the grip in 10° increments.

I had a Parker 75 with a similar concept. However, you moved the nib to adjust the position of your grip. I didn't know if it was a gimmick or was a real feature. As it has a triangular grip, I think, now, that it does have a purpose, especially for those, like me, that positions my index finger on top of the grip. This could be beneficial for me. As for the pen itself, Sailor makes quality pens. That they have introduced a pen in the lower price range is a plus and certainly worth considering. Thank you for the review.

I enjoy my Lamy Safari pens - but they have some issues IMHO - I like to print small, and even the Lamy "EF" nib is a bit wide for me. My fingers don't grip a pen at the established Lamy angles, so I'm always a bit fighting the finger alignment grooves as i write. They also feel slightly cheap - and it's not the plastic itself, but seems like they are just too light to give me a quality feel. I bought a Sailor Compass 1911 on-sale for $30 in the "medium fine" nib and found it too wide for my liking...and a bit small in body diameter and slight cheap feeling. The Tuzu may be my favorite "cheap" name-brand pen - the "F" nib is perfect for my writing, the adjustable grip fixes the indexing issue, but it still feels like an inexpensive pen a la Lamy. I really like it, but interestingly, I have some Hongdian and Jinhao pens that were waaaay less expensive, but feel more expensive. The packaging seems aimed for the American market - where pens go on a hang-tag on display and the package needs to have some "flash."

I'm a fan of Sailor pens. They make superb nibs and have excellent quality control. The Tuzu, however, seems over-engineered. I would say, simple is better. So, if you're catering to people who are sensative to nib orientation, why not just make a round section? Overall, are flattened sections any different, comfortable or advantageous? In my experience, not really.

Well, you don't work with children, obviously. It's incredible in how many ways they can hold a pen and then complain that there's no more ink even though they can see it sloshing in the barrel. The grip, the flare at the end of the section, the weight, everything screams - we are for young children.

Sorry, that is not what I would expect out of Sailor.. But I am sure there are others that really will love the pen. I'll stick to my Lamy's or TWSBI's.

Don’t see the point of this section,if you buy a round section you can hold it where you want😂

For me Sailor Broads are where the toothiness shines. Any thinner and it’s a little overwhelming.

I'm not that impressed with the pen. I hated the sound it made as you wrote for one. It looks to me like it is hard work using this pen, what I mean is the pen wouldn't flow with me if it were me writing with it. I have seen you use other pens and as soon as you write the first letter, instantly I know that it is a great pen.

_ Hi. You use the word 'built' when describing pen construction etc. _ What do you actually mean when you use that word? _ The dictionary explains one usage of the word 'build' in the noun form as referring to style or construction. You seem to use the word 'built' for this meaning. _ However, as I understand it the word 'built' is the past tense of the verb 'build' as in "to build a house". The past tense would be "the house was built" and in the old English the word "builded" was used instead of "built". Commenting on the construction or style of the house one might say "I like the build of this house. It was designed and built by X." ... etc. _ Similarly, I would say "I like the build of this pen." _ Sorry for this little outburst - I just found this mood coming out; however, I really do enjoy your presentations. Perhaps I am misunderstanding something: Please let me know if I am missing something.
