Sainik School Bijapur Celebrates Golden Jubilee of the Campus:
Sainik School Bijapur celebrated golden Jubilee of the Sprawling campus of the school by organizing Annual fest on Thursday, 22 Dec 2016.
The school originally started in 1963 in Vijaya College campus (Present BLDEA campus). It was in Dec 1966 that this sprawling campus was inaugurated by the then Vice President Zakir Hussain. A number of shows and displays marked 50th Celebration of the campus. It featured multifarious activities of the cadets which reflected their multi-dimensional talents in various fields. It included science, art and philately exhibition, dance, drama and musical performances. The culminating events were fascinating gymnastics and mesmerizing aerobics shows besides mass PT display.
Chief Minister Shri K Siddaramaiah was the Chief Guest for the golden Jubilee celebration. He also inaugurated 100 KW solar power project and the outdoor stadium. Principal Col Tamojeet Biswas welcomed the guests and presented the school report.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Siddaramaiah said that Sainik School Bijapur is a premier institute which is an island of excellence. It has been providing quality education which has resulted in producing role models in society.
Stressing that India has strong defence forces, he said that soldiers are necessary to protect the sovereignty of this country. Discipline is required in army as well as one’s life. If one acquires at early stage, then one can lead successful life.
He exhorted the cadets to inculcate the humanitarian values and possess scientific and progressive outlook. Knowledge is acquired trait but values are inculcated from the surrounding. If the education stresses on secular and right values, the country will progress in right direction.
Principal Col Tamojeet Biswas said that the school has emerged one of the best Sainik Schools in academics as well as sports. The outdoor stadium is built in the campus to impart professional training to the cadets. It is built with the financial support of the state government of Karnataka.
He also said that the school has set an example by embarking upon solar project for power generation by installing solar panels on the rooftop. This solar photovoltaic plant generating 100 kw power would meet the demands of the administrative building during the office hours.
Earlier a guard of honour was presented to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by the cadets of Sainik School Bijapur. The Chief Minister also paid floral tributes to martyrs by placing wreath at the ‘Remembrance Sthal.’
Shri K Siddaramaiah handed over the trophies to the winners of Best Junior House, Best Senior House, Cock House and NDA trophy. In addition, Shri D Vijaya Kumar was presented a letter of appreciation for his outstanding contributions and continued dedication as English Teacher. Shri Chandrashekhar M Hiremath was Master of Ceremony.
Vice Principal Sqn Ldr KJM Reddy, Administrative Officer Sqn Ldr A Muralidharan and Senior Master GS Ramamurthy were present on the occasion.
