This music video and cover of Keane's ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ is the result of the combined efforts of children, staff and whole school community at Saint Ronan's School in Hawkhurst. They are very proud to share it with you.
Eliana arrived in the world two months early, just before Christmas 2013. She was born with Spastic Displegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy that affects motor control of the lower limbs and causes visual impairment. Following two difficult years, Eliana’s mum discovered a procedure called ‘Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy’. Though the procedure offers the much-needed hope of correcting Eliana’s condition, it is only available in the USA and at a huge price.
So Eliana’s mum and family started fundraising. As Eliana’s older sister is at Saint Ronan's, the school stepped in to help. At first they did a local sponsored walk but, with more money still to raise, another idea emerged… to record a song and make a music video featuring the Saint Ronan’s children. Keane's ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ had always been a favourite on trips to visit Eliana in hospital so it was the perfect choice. With the band’s blessing, the project was underway.
