My wife was in septic shock last year, I was told there was no hope, to sign a DNR, and all I could do was pray for a miracle. That evening I met Dr. Borik for the first time, who by Divine Providence, was assigned to my wife. We said the St. Sharbel prayer in the room, and she lead everyone in the same prayer after the rosary at the hospital chapel each night. My wife began to recover that first night, and is still with us. Glory to God.

I MOVED TO LAS VEGAS NEVADA JULY AND THEIR IS A ST SHARBEL CHURCH 3 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE .IT IS ABEAUTIFUL CHURCH.I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS MIRACOLOUS SAINT.I AM PRAYING FOR MY DAUGHTER TO HIM.AND I HAVE RECEIVED A MIRACLE.THANK YOU SAINT SHARBEL!AND NOW I AM DEVOTED TO HIM!I WANT EVERYBODY TO KNOW ABOUT HIM!

I've heard about St Charbel just a year ago but I have since been praying him for many sick people and he has answered all my prayers. I keep praying him and telling people about him. I wish I can visit his Tomb one day.

Thank you for your talk about St Charbel ! I had a chance to visit his relic in Bethlehem - St. Charbel church . And I got some cotton balls with his oil. Is it the oil that his church is providing the oil from his body or it is the blessed one by the Maronite priest and providing to the pilgrims?

Why are there 2 spellings Sharbel and Charbel? Also, great presentation. I think of Christ actually having 8 wounds, not 6. The 5 we know, the 6th wound of the shoulder from carrying the Cross (as you point out), the Crown of Thorns and the Scourging on his back (multiple wounds, but I will sum it up as the “back wounds”.) Some history suggests he was Scourged 39 times, as 4O often killed a man.

Please correct our Saint name… it correct spelling should be Saint Charbel… I am Lebanese and your spelling is incorrect

I beg your pardon… the original spelling as noted in the earliest prayers for his beatification is SHARBEL. It was not until after 1950’s that they use CHARBEL , as this is the French way to spell it. Both are acceptable. ( by the way I am Lebanese as well. Also, director of the new Saint SHARBEL Spiritual Life Center in Pittsburgh, PA, under the direction of The Eparchy of Brooklyn.

Arabic speaker/reader here. I would think that the saint's name would begin with "ش " and therefore would be spelled primarily as "Sh" or secondarily with "Ch", i.e. Sharbel.

The original spelling from the earliest documents is SHARBEL, but the newer French influence is accepted as CHARBEL. Under the direction of the MARONITE Eparchy, both accepted but we at the new Spiritual Center chose to use the original spelling. All, the remaining family members of the Saint verify the spelling to be SHARBEL!!!! Thank you for your inquiry, it can be a bit confusing.
