The draft was awesome!!!

I am excited about this draft. They addressed a lot of their needs, they got great value picks, and they did not give up any future picks. = Good draft.

Rattler floor is a good back-up his ceiling is a starting QB
@coreypasley75372 ай бұрын
I agree on the floor .. I actually think rattlers ceiling is higher than people think . Dude is super talented specially in terms of processing and arm talent which are the important things for QB . People way over hype the character concerns he had in high school .

I like the picks, but once you realize our GM traded away a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th (a year after trading a top 10 pick)...it starts to get ridiculous. It ties your hands during the draft and forces you to draft need. It's also hard to imagine the 14th offensive player taken being better than the 1st overall defender. Long term Fuaga will be measured vs guys like Verse & Latu as BPA options imo. And after the draft Fuaga saying he "doesn't really watch NFL" because "gotta get away somehow" in interview isn't great. His tape looks good and he fits scheme plus Kool Aid & Rattler have upside. But our front offices process seems broken.

Kool aid was my favorite corner in this draft . Ended up in the second cuz his pre draft injury Also saban had crazy high praise for kool aid . He can also play some safety.

He should fit in nicely

The edge position is stacked alright. Stacked with a bunch of question marks. Cam? Turner? Young? Fauskey? So Im not confident in our d-line….

True. Someone has to emerge out of that group

Great show as always fellas! I've got a question for you both... As you know we were terrible at running the ball last year. Do you guys think it was because of poor offensive line play or because Pete Carmichael had a lousy plan for the offense? And if it was poor offensive line play, do you guys think that the Saints have done enough this year through free agency and the draft to address the issue?
@Fox8OvertimePodcast2 ай бұрын
Line play was an issue.. Playcalling was an issue.. but also ineffective play at the RB position was an issue as well..Williams wasnt productive
@elreydavid18572 ай бұрын
@@Fox8OvertimePodcastthanks for the reply! I'm kind of surprised that you think that the RBs were a contributing factor to our lack of a running game. And I guess you are right but I think they were a very small part of the problem because AK and Williams are damn good players and they need holes to run through in order to be effective. It will be interesting this coming season how Kubiak is going to fix this because he wants us to be a run first team. Cheers Overtime Podcast!

I belive the only purpose Nathan Peterman and Kellon Mond serve is to help Derrick Carr learn the new offense being as they have some experience with QB coach Andrew Janoko. Coaches on the field pushing Janoko and Kubiaks new agenda. After training camp, those 2 guys are GONE. Spencer Rattler wins the backup spot and Jake Haener is on the practice squad/ emergency QB. My Opinion.

Idk how much tape you watched if you saying you can’t find anything he does great. His arm talent is crazy especially for his size. Lincoln Riley has a type when it comes to QBs. Baker, kyler, Caleb and Spencer aren’t coincidentally picks for him
@Fox8OvertimePodcast2 ай бұрын
Arm talent is very good , accuracy good, athleticism good...not the best pocket presence... He has some tools to work with .. He could possibly be a starter but needs work.

Did not want to give up assets for next year‘s draft come on guys
@Fox8OvertimePodcast2 ай бұрын
Agreed if those were the terms then they shouldnt have. But a trade back early could have gotten it as well.

Rattler is a great pick for the Saints - whether it works out or not. He has the tools to succeed in the NFL, with good coaching
@Fox8OvertimePodcast2 ай бұрын
Its certainly possible

I feel liek Rattler makes way more sense then they let on in this video. The QB room is a bunch of nobodys and adding Rattler gives us a chance to have someone that might end up being our next franchise guy. If not he was a 5th round pick, i cant imagine we would have gotten much more value taking anyone else.
@anthonychavarria45922 ай бұрын
For someone like me who doesn’t understand how trades work. What’s the best way we could have traded back and received a third or fourth? Trade back from 45?
@Fox8OvertimePodcast2 ай бұрын
Yes.. or trade back from 14 and pick up one in that 3rd or 4th rd gap.

This video was horrible. In order for the Saints to trade and get a third or fourth round pick we were going to positively have to give up a third round pick next year plus a couple of our fifth round picks this year because you’re not just moving up you’re getting a third round pick that you don’t have so it was going to cost a lot and none of those guys that he called off or for sure shots
@Fox8OvertimePodcast2 ай бұрын
Ridiculous take. Yes one way to move up would involve next year....But its not the only way.. They nearly traded back early.. which would have given them one.. or traded up late...remember they initially had 4 5th round picks.... And by the way we said 3rd or 4th ... not just 3rd

WE agree
@coreypasley75372 ай бұрын
You don’t have 6 guys in the room lol half the guys are just training camp bodies won’t make the roster . Saints absolutely needed a young talented QB to develop
@michaelmartin43662 ай бұрын
They screwed the pooch by drafting a QB. We had more pressing needs and wasting a pick on a QB who won't be seeing the field anytime soon was asinine. We needed more help on the OL and at WR.
@michaelalexander9502 ай бұрын
We took a wr in the same exact round what is your point ? Also taking a risk on a qb with extreme good upside in the 5th is never a bad thing
@michaelmartin43662 ай бұрын
We could have picked a better lineman or receiver at that spot.
@Fox8OvertimePodcast2 ай бұрын
Not bad value for Rattler there. He was too high on their board to ignore at that point. Would be very curious to know who they would have gone with had Rattler not been there
@therazor48622 ай бұрын
I actually agree with you. Saints drafted a QB a round higher last year. What's the point? Love it or hate it Carr is your QB for the foreseeable future. Me I love it.
@BrentonBannister-gc2pt2 ай бұрын
Carr isn’t the answer; it’s part of the long term prep. Look beyond this season because we can’t even say “NFC South or bust”…. Mid coach + Poor QB room still in place… Don’t trip - change is en route 🙏🏾
