Hello, my dear viewers and subscribers !
This video is dedicated to the Saito FA180 engine. I bought it a long time ago, on eBay, and not in very good condition, but that's true, I paid a small price. When I saw it on arrival, it was so dirty, covered with residue of dried fuel, and some polymerized castor oil, that I just put it in a box and decided to forget about it for a while. The time has come, I still decided to try to get it to understand whether it will work at all. The rest you will see in this video. I will add only one thing - I was very mistaken and mistaken about this engine. It's still something! Also, please, note, that this is just the Part 1, next my and engine common adventures will me in the Part 2, which will come very soon, this week.

Used engines will require new bearings 99% of the time. Always open up a used engine and inspect it before running it. My advice, anyway. :) Saito has used low quality bearings for some time now, according to many sources. Prone to rusting quickly. Unfortunately, no we could not hear the sounds of the crunchy bearing with the music track blaring over it. lol... And lastly, PUT SOME FUEL IN THE TANK! 🤣🤣

Thank you very much for your comment ! You're totally right, music track was perfectly masked crunchy bearings sound 🙂My fault... This video was hard to mount & edit, a lot of parts, probably, lost some attention close to the end. Regarding to the fuel, of course, I will 🙂 Thank you for your information about the Saito's bearings - every time, when I dismantling used Saito engine, I've noticed, that practically, its all were rusty. Usually, I purchasing the bearings at my local market, mostly choosing Japanese made (NTM, else). Thank you and have a nice day !

I got that engine with rust and not rotating, i nade it new condition, but that engine is for rich , unless uou convrt it to gas instead nitro..

Thank you very much for your comment ! Definitely, fully agree with you. The matter is in that I have some plans to use this engine in one project, because I expecting a lot of exercises and testing with this engine, so I decide to use this one, which was used a lot. I've a new one, but to wear it for the project without any insurance, that it will work gives no sense. I also, a bit later, will try to convert it into gas with spark ignition, or, would leave it with glow on gas. Not defined yet. Have a nice day !

I think the power is too low. With this propeller, it had to rotate close to 8~9000 rpm.

Thank you very much for your comment ! You're totally right, this used engine underperformed during the first test run. As you can see, prop sometimes becomes jammed, so there is for sure, that engine isn't in a good working condition. Normal operational engine with 18x8 prop should show, at least, 8,2K RPM on the ground, normal conditions. From inside, engine was in not a good condition (rusty bearings, few signs of piston seize, 3 time increased valve lash, etc.). Engine will be cleaned thoroughly, also, will be assembled, and we'll see it after the whole refurbishing process. I'll also need a new tachometer, why - you'll be understand soon, in the next video. Calmly and a good cleaning and then adjustment, it will get better! I didn't understand why use G5 spark plugs with glow engines!

@@aileronmodelismo Yes, of course, engine will be treated very accurately, all parts, what is really necessary, will be replaced, bearings for sure. Regarding the OS G5 - this glow plug shows very stable and low idle with the most engines I ever tested, so, this is definitely thoughtful choice. Due to the fact, that G5 is longer, that the most of other glow plugs & is seats deeper in the combustion chamber, probably, this could be the reason of the better, granted ignition moment. It really works very well for me, and I can rely on it.
