Well, why don't we look at the context now? just look how lucky England have been in terms of the draw in the tournaments under Southgate, it really isn't a joke, they have literally been one of the luckiest teams in the history of international tournaments in terms of the draws in The Euros and World Cup. When England got to the Semis in WC 2018, they were in a group with Tunisia, Belgium and Panama. They finished 2th in that group behind Belgium, and then they met freaking Sweden (😂) after the group and after Sweden, they met Colombia which they just barely beat on penalties. After Colombia was Croatia in the semis and England even got the lead and then went on to lose the game even though they were clear favorites. Tell me about a big nation that's ever had such luck meeting Tunisia, Panama, Belgium, Sweden, Colombia and Croatia on a way to a final? And yet, they couldn't even make it, so instead of giving credit for reaching the semis in that WC 2018, they should slate him for getting one of the easiest ways to a WC final in the history of football, and yet they couldn't manage it. Three years later and it's the Euros 2021 and the tournament is in England, so England are playing all games at home which is a huge advantage. They meet Croatia, Scotland and Czech Republic in the group and on the route to the final after group, they met Germany, freaking Ukraine in the quarters and freaking Denmark in the semis and then an Italy team which on paper looked the weakest for years and yet, England lose after getting an early lead at home against a way worse squad on paper. WC 2022 doesn't even deserve a mention, they met mediocre teams until meeting France in the quarters and then they got kicked out.
