We were approached by Saker and asked if we'd review their mini chainsaw. Tim told them "sure" as long as he could be honest about it.
Overall Tim was impressed with the saw, and it will be going on more jobs with us. It does have an issue with the battery locking in properly, takes a little extra elbow grease to lock it into place. Otherwise it performed very well. And for a price point of $60 compared to Dewalt & Milwaukee in the $200 range for the bare tool (no charger or battery) it's not a bad deal. We don't know how this will last long term, and the replacement chains are quite expensive, but overall a simple to use tool. One that we could see would be easy for those without the body mass or stamina to use the loppers or pruning saws.
Thanks for watching!

Update: So we have actually added this little saw to our "pack out" with the mowing crew. Absolutely love having it right on the mower with us to buzz up small branches, or doing a quick prune on smaller troublesome branches!

Thank you so much. I'm 56 and this is my 1st chain saw. I grew up with my dad using a wood burning stove. His chain saws are humongous. u hv to mix gas and oil. Thank u for showing what I'm supposed to do with the round button. Also, to start close to the machine of the chain. I'm an RN and one of my trauma ptnts told me last night to not use it. Now I think I'm ready. Thank you!!!

You're welcome Tina. It's a nice little saw for homeowners who need to cut smaller things occasionally. Just be safe with it and think before you cut. Basic safety measures and thoughtfulness are important for both the novice and the professional. Thanks for watching the video, Please subscribe if you haven't.

I purchased the Saker Mini Chainsaw. I cut down a group of branches and small trees. I was very, very impressed with what it is capable of. I am not by any means handyman. But I sure felt like I was. In an hours time I had gone through a group of brush that has been an eyesore for years. Great product!

Hi Ron, as I stated early in the video I was pretty skeptical about how it would perform. It did outperform my expectations for sure. I wish we could have had another brand or two for a side by side comparison. The main thing I didn't like was how hard the battery clicked in. Thanks for commenting and watching!

I'm glad you focused on the battery click, as it is clearly the most important feature of any tool. The rest of the tools functions are not nearly as important as the battery click. They want you to say, "they want you to" a bit more often. That's what they want. lol.

Thanks for the reply. I was definitely under impressed with the way the battery connected. As we are going for honest reviews I wanted to bring that part to light. However, I probably could have focused less on that. haha. Thanks again

I have a 4" Saker MIni Chainsaw and it's been a real lifesaver for me! I trimmed out suckers and branches from my crazy overgrown lilac trees in just a few minutes which in past years has taken me hours of pushing myself to the limit of my strength with lopers. I pruned and cut branches on my property for several hours on one full battery. I don't have any problem with the way the battery fits onto the saw. It snaps into place and remains tight and secure. It's sturdy yet light enough for this 67-year-old woman to cut over my head with one hand and maintain control of this little but powerful tool. It was easy to take off the cover, clean the sawdust out, easy to tighten the chain, easy to oil. Still runs like brand new. I love it and would recommend it to anyone with branch pruning to do.

Hi, thanks for the comment. I'm glad it's working out well for you! We actually did a follow up review on the saw at the 1 month mark. We have been using it a decent amount, and yes it works well for pruning Lilac for sure! I'm wondering if maybe the way our battery clicks in is a bit of a fluke. Here's the link to our 1 month review. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b5yHrKtey5mqkaM.html

Might want to check if the Makita battery works... It looks like it should fit. Using a looper on that 4" branch might have been an even bigger challenge. Just observations.

Thank you Robert. I actually don't own any Makita gear, I wonder if the batteries would work.
