-- PRESENTATION --
Sakuradamon is the name of a major incident that changed the course of Japanese History on March 24, 1860, at the Edo Castle gate called “Sakurada”. It set a course of events that eventually led to the Satsuma Rebellion and the disappearance of the Samurai, 150 years ago.
That event is still commemorated every year by a ceremony called Sakurada Resshisai, in Tsuchiura Yasaka Jinja.
This historical video is followed by some wise words from Professor Honma Takao, who keeps alive the memory of this event.
