Hi Sal. When I was a freshman in college in 1986 I met another freshman who played guitar. I play saxophone. The guitarist's name was Vinnie Ruggiero, the son of the great drummer you mentioned. We formed a jazz quintet and played together all through college. Vinnie and I remain lifelong friends and we speak frequently. He played me all of the recordings his dad made with Slide Hampton's band and Sal Nistico with the Jazz Brothers. I am currently a music educator and I find your methods here excellent. Perhaps we may converse one day.

Hey Richie, loving the tutorials, subscribed and you're really helping me to expand my skills towards intermediate, many thanks. Ps whats the title track to this video pls? A wild stab in the dark suspects it to be a Woody Shaw number ... hope I'm not too far off. Much luv n respect.

+ Thanks, Richie; I have two of your books; great stuff. So, let me understand this: you keep starting on low G, arpeggiating all the chords that have a G natural in them, which would be C, F, Bb, Eb, and Ab. Then, arpeggiate all the the chords with an F#, which would be B, F#, E, A, D, G and Db. G is the only key that has an F# and a G, so you could start on either of those notes. I understand the modes pretty well by now, so I get the big picture on this (I think). Have I got this right? Again, thanks for all your great teaching.

First of all, let me apologize for not responding more quickly...I had over 130 comments there were held for "approval" I wasn't aware of. C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, C#, F# B, E, A, D, G in the order...always starting on a "G" or an "F#" at the bottom of the trumpet's range. The order is a "Cycle of 4th's".
