Majority of security work is verbal de-escalation, when you can’t communicate effectively and it only escalates the situation leading to physical aggression then you need to be able to handle it and not run soo many international guards would rather talk on the phone then actually work, yet still wish to work in hospitals, bars and clubs where’s a gate house position would be safer for everyone

In Cairns North Queensland, it’s like $34p/h and I’m pretty sure at night, it’s $48/$52p/h. It depends on what type of security you’re doing. Crowd control, bouncer at a night club or even a personal bodyguard.

True! Security is actually good money if your intention is to make money in Australia and the job is consistent. But remember you are only allowed 20 hours a week. While I started in Coles in 2015, we got $23/ hour and in all fairness it was a good amount if you have certainty of getting 20hrs each week. Good luck to everyone looking for a job! I have been there and trust me it only gets better 🥰 Every job is respectable.
