I love this game. it was the first game I ever backed on Kickstarter. It goes over very well in my group and can get quite aggressive with throwing down accusation cards.

But you don't ever shuffle your own Tryal cards. That wouldn't make sense. You know where your cards are so that you can choose which card to flip over in Confession, or so that other people can follow certain cards around the circle and choose certain ones in Conspiracy.

You don't have to put the tryal card in front of you out randomly. That would honestly be really bad to have to do since you wouldn't know what card to reveal during confession. Also you can play as may cards as you want not just 1 or draw 2 cards.

True. And it would also be a problem if the constable changes between players, right?

+Benjamin Krämer the constable can and will change players. If it does change, the new person is the constable and the person who used to have it is no longer a constable.

+MrFrederuco yes but the comment was you shouldn't randomize because you wouldn't know which card of yours is the constable and therefore wouldn't know if someone new became the constable

+Nyghts bayne I believe the rules state that when you get your card after the swap you can look at it. I can't verify at the moment, but that is how my group played it. Otherwise you would have to tell someone "you are now a witch" or "you are now the constable" which defeats the secret part of the game.

And on your turn you can either -----"Draw 2 cards OR play any number of cards on any other players." ------- only 2 decisions on your turn so it is pretty fast. You can keep your whole hand full of accusations until you are ready to throw all your accusations like a big accusation shotgun, but the problem is someone may arson your hand as everyone can see who has the most cards when the arson card is drawn.

This is my question too. I backed this on kickstarter, but we haven't tried it yet because it seems like the end of the game could fall really flat.

Yes, if everyone becomes a witch, everyone wins. Also, there are a few situations that the game can end quickly, but in general it is a lot of fun and lots of name calling happens. I backed this on Kickstarter and debuted it at MoatCon 4 in Youngsville NC and it went over very well.

So, if everyone wins in that condition, why wouldn't you start trying to become a witch at a certain point? That seems anti thematic (and anti climatic)

The Witches act similiar to the Cult from Mafia/Werewolf. They could potentially all win together, but could also all suddenly lose to a single lucky enemy.

I'm on the fence between this and Good Cop, Bad Cop. Has anyone played both to give me a little bit of a comparison in terms of fun and ease of getting into?

I played this at a gaming convention in Youngsville NC after getting it. All who played enjoyed it. It is a bit to get into at first as it is not "normal" gameplay mechanics, but the rules are pretty good and after 1 trip through the deck it was pretty smooth for all players. Lots of paranoia happens, and finger pointing too. I rather enjoy this game and it is great for something different.

Kind of unrealistic. You were more likely to be hanged for saying you didn't believe in witchcraft than if you were actually practicing witchcraft. Plus confession was usually a "get out of jail free" card. Orthodoxy and conformity were expected.
