I think I'm a Hybrid. 8 for Admin. 8 for Developer. 7 for Architect. I'm not suprised at all. My biggest challenge in life has always been deciding on a career path. I have so many interests. I know I could be good at anything. It's just a matter of which will bring in the most money while being bearable. Lol

Great video, I was wondering this question myself. I was pretty balanced between Admin and Dev. Admin won by 4. I appreciate the content and this video in particular because it saved me from wasting valuable time.

Great Video! I have been consuming these videos all day! I scored 16 for the Admin and 7 for the Technical Architect. I am a Realtor who runs his own business. So this is natural as I am a people person, but still have to Lead and Manage people. The Solution Architect seems right up my alley.

I have been a salesforce developer for 8 years and I have been a salesforce lead developer of those for 3 years. I took your little test and I thought that it was fun. I guess because of my experience of being a saleforce person for 11 years, I am a hybrid: 8 triangles, 8 circles, and 7 diamonda. I was a little shocked that it worked out that way. I thought that I would have been more on the dev side of the house since i have been doing it for so long, but it makes sense that I am a hybrid since I have mostly worked for small to medium-sized teams where I had to wear many hats at every place I have worked at since I have broke into the salesforce world back in 2009. I am hoping that my next job is going to be management or product owner. Fingers crossed.

And as David suggested, I am working on designing Org for my own family business. No income thru SalesForce yet :)

This was really helpful. I have been studying front end (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) to head in the developer direction for the past 5-6 months. I have recently realized how huge the salesforce world is and the opportunities that are there. So I have been researching. I was solidly in the Solutions Architect space (Admin 9, developer 5, Architect 9), which is kind of appropriate. I want to learn development but by nature I won't want to remain in one lane only. I know this about myself no matter how much I enjoy it just being me and the computer right now. Now, I just need to figure out how to get to this $200k plus position! :D My ideal job would be consultant though. I love helping people make their operation run better by helping design something better for them. Then I would want to oversee but not be the only hands on person in implementing the solution. Then I want to do it again for another person.

Yes I got the one I’m most interested in which is Administration. Although finding a pure Administration role is like looking for a needle in the a haystack. It seems you need to be able to everyone else’s job as well!

Nice one mate! I really enjoyed this and I do think you should look at doing a segment of each path. Maybe start with the sub paths and work up to the big red ones :) What do you think if I got the below score? This was great, do you have one that digs in deeper and helps with finding your niche? I find myself jumping from one thing to the next to learn, but really want to narrow down to one specialty. Making the career switch from hospitality to Salesforce so looking for something that compliments my experience as a revenue manager for hotels (forecasting, pricing, reporting)

Super interesting, and helpful breakdown. I landed in Solution Architect land. I don't think you mentioned Business Analyst, or Systems Analyst - would those folks fall in the center hybrid space in your mind? Also, my take on a couple of your questions: The Matrix: "Oracle" threw me off for a minute, because, well ORACLE =-P. The Stuck on a problem for hours slide - I wanted to say "all of the above." I think, perhaps in that case, it is wise to have enough mindfulness to choose the most appropriate one for the situation. Last, for the Rock Band slide - Lead Singer. All the way. ;-) Thanks for the great content. I have been wading back into Salesforce Land after a long hiatus. I am amazed at how much is different, and how much is the same.

Cheers Brandy!!! Ya the fundamentals are all the same, don't feel intimidated! I don't really consider Systems/business analysts to be hybrid developers because the amount of dev knowledge they need is minimal. I would consider them hybrid admins however

My result wasn't surprising: SF Developer. My current role is technically Jr Applications Developer but thats basically what I do as well. Glad to say i just got my PD1 cert too not too long ago :D

This is me exactly. Consultant would be an ideal scenario for me. I love helping others be more successful in many areas but I have a specific draw to it them utilizing tech better. And my result was Solution Architect as well.

I got Developer but Admin was pretty close! I am really interested in pursuing this career but noticed that when I look at job postings they are all looking for at least 2 or more years experience. I also recently saw an internal job posting and again it was emphasized a minimum number of years is required. Bit worried I may have a hard time breaking into this area! Any tips on how to transition? The only thing that helps me is I do have an educational background in IT but it is not recent.

Hi David, I need advice plz......... My total IT experience is 17 years. I started my career as a developer in 2004, coding and designing in VB, SQL, crystal report. After 5 years I moved into Oracle Apps ERP/ Oracle Fusion/ Oracle Cloud. I am working in Oracle Apps for the last 10-11 years and now feeling like getting out of it and trying to into either the Analytics space or SalesForce space. I work for a major IT company and live in Australia. What would be your advice for me?

Kind of. A technical architect owns the org. A business analyst owns what features to build, alongside the stakeholders. If you want to build features on the platform that's a job at Salesforce themselves!

How would you differentiate between a solutions architect and a business analyst?

Former is closer to Salesforce, latter closer to the business

@@dvdkliu My previous role was a SF Business Analyst and honestly sounds more like the hybrid Solutions Architect you describe, which is why I ask. I evolved into the role and have been working on getting certs to support my me in my new searches. Any feedback or thoughts? Thx again

Consulting is probably the best path in that area - I'd recommend it!
