Should you bring your spouse to dance classes. An interesting philosophical and practical analysis of the pros and cons. As often there is no right or wrong answer, and the solution is often some sort of compromise. We are both learning to dance and go to classes and socials together. However, I try to dance with as many ladies as possible as it's generally agreed this helps you to learn. I know two married dance teachers who prefer not to dance together and I can understand why. A spouse can be rudely honest whereas someone else can be more polite. My wife often tells me I'm rubbish, but I've never been told this by other ladies, even though they may think it! Their criticism and advice is generally more polite and constructive. The main thing if you dance is to keep dancing and practising!

It is counterintuitive that I can lead strangers better than my spouse. I think because they want to be lead and the wife thinks she is in charge.

I brought my partner to class and we both fell in love with it. I was definitely more of a beginner. She refused to practice with me and said it was boring. When I didn't get a step right she would say how bad I was and belittle me. I would say maybe if you would practice with me I'd improve faster. She told me since I am not latin that it's not mine to learn salsa dancing. It turns out that she was so jealous that I would improve and dance with other girls that she tried to push me down so I would quit. Well , my new partner is the exact opposite. I'm in the intermediate/advanced classes now. I would never dance with my old partner again if she begged me to.

I always see couples fighting with each other when they're struggling to learn a difficult move. If you go together, please leave any relationship issues at home. If you're getting frustrated with your partner leading/following wrongly, consider switching along, giving each other a chance to learn it from other students.

I think one important thing you didn't mention is that if you only learn to dance together, then when you later dance with somebody else it might be pretty difficult. You know each other and can she can anticipate the man's moves easier and he can lead better when the people know each other. In that case when either tries to dance with different people that also might be at a different level they will struggle. I've seen this happen at Bachata classes where the instructor say change partner and only 30% change and then the 70% stays together the whole night. I find when I dance with better dancers they help me improve with feedback so its better practice in my opinion when learning anyway.

It's a huge mistake to anticipate the leader's moves. That does not improve the lead at all. Leaders need to leed. Followers need to follow without anticipating.

Hi, I totally agree. I do mention that in another video. "Why you should dance with more thatn 1 dance partner".

Its difficult to learn together ... I think the best is to learn changing dance partners ...eventually we will dance together in social events.

I brought my partner to a beginner class, but now she doesn't want to continue so I do it alone. No problem so far. But now I'm considering getting some extra practice outside the class to improve my learning. Of course I'll invite her to join me. What's your experience on this?

Hi Alfa, it sounds like the addiction struck you! If Salsa, Bachata or Kizomba hits you, its hard to get away from it. If your partner does not want to take classes and she is still a beginner, she will soon feel that she can not cope up with your level of dancing. In that case you will notice she does not like to join you. Shel will end up watching you having a great time and you might feel responsible in spending time with her while you prefer to be on the dancefloor. There are two options: 1. She lets you do your thing. In that case you will have to find a balance between spending time with her and your dancing addiction. 2. She wants you to dance less and she will give you a harder time everytime you go out dancing. Now it is up to you. There might come a point that you will have to choose. Nr. 2 sounds egoistic from your girlfriends point of view but do not forget dancing is also a world of temptation so please keep in mind how you would feel in her shoes. Wish you all the best! Keep us posted! Morry Salsaventura

Nightmare 🤣 The women learn so much faster than the guy. I avoid dancing with women that come with a partner. And avoid dancing with friends girlfreinds. There are so many women there that there's no point winding guys up dancing with their partners.

It's stupid when I find women come out dancing and their other half's stay at home or do other things. She finds a guy at salsa she wants to be with. Dancing can be to sexual when women are away from their man. It happens with men too but less so.

Not sure how you can say women do it more, haha. Ya, let the men go dancing but not the women?! Give me a break, lol.

@@littlefrances70 Honestly, you are so naive. Women are always looking for the 'D' whether in a relationship, married or single, regardless. They are out and their pussywhipped men don't know FA and can do or say anything to change it.

Impressive show of chauvinism with a strong scent of mysogyny in your follow up response. Statements that contains "women always" etc. Well done.
