Hello from Portugal, actually, (before Covid), the European Capital of Kizomba. Not a professional dancer here, but a very passionate hobby dancer. Thank you for your video and insight about the possible scenarios. I think it was been a terrible thing that happened and will totally change the dance world (couple styles dances mostly). Normally in Lisbon we had lots of full houses dance party's all the days of the week, and several school dances with lots of dancers. Some of the schools didn't resist and the actual tendency, as today 01/01/2021, is the online classes due to the confinement established by the health authorities. Hoping that the situation get better, and missing not only the classes, but the social part of the dance world, that you didn't mention in this video and that poses the question: If i don't have where to dance why should i get classes? The answer, in my opinion, is the idea that we all have to grab ourselves to ... because when this all this ends we´ll be more prepared to enjoy the bliss of dancing. May the force be with you all, and we will survive and will dance again!!!!

Watching from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. Thanks for your analysis; a lot to think about... The local regulations which affect the dance community are similar to yours, no more than 3 persons congregating at a time in one place, social distancing of 2m, wearing masks, washing of hands or use of hand sanitiser... The school I attend (classes 3x per week) did a couple weeks of shines challenges, but I think people were not too motivated by that format, so that was aborted. At first I maintained practising my shines, but now I can't even remember when was the last time I did that...

Hello! I am from Mexico, but I live in Calgary Canada. I hope this situation will end soon 😞 In Calgary we have some festivals every year during the summer, the government just canceled all events until the end of August! Which means no dancing in the festivals this year 😭😭😭 so sad!

Hello! In France, you just can't go outside to meet friends in their homes. If you go outsides, it's to work, to shop groceries, or to get healthcare. I started salsa in October, and I am now part of the fanatics :D So I have been quite frustrated and worried for some weeks now about what's going to happen to dancing (and I'm not even financially impacted). In France, the quarantine should end in 2 weeks, but a lot of things won't go back to normal anytime soon. Dancing is not an exception: the classes will probably not resume, nightclubs will stay closed, social events in July are already cancelled. So I believe in mild case scenario, and hope for the best of course. I live by myself, but I trained almost everyday, one way or the other : new moves, techniques, musicality etc...but at some point you need a partner right?! So one thing I'll probably ask my teacher is to help finding motivated enough partners to continue the dancing/training on our own, but creating opportunities for private lessons in the mean time. Thank you and good luck.

I think dancing will continue once the bars and clubs are back open, but it would be among couples or close friends in a large open space. To get back to the way it is before (like packed floor and dancing w/one and other), unless we see 0 new cases for consecutive weeks-to-months.. not a lot of dancers will take the risk. I am betting at least a year or your Mid Case Scenario. Here in Nashville USA, 90-95% of dancers are either single, or go dancing without their spouse or significant other, that leaves only 5-10% that will be willing to take couple classes.

Yes, that is true. So many people without the same partner might lead to a long long wait before things get back to normal.

I stay positive and hope for best case scenario. But this also requires awareness and perhaps push of the "dancer's society" against regulatory authority. I believe most of professional sport activities like football, basketball or martial arts will start within 6 months because that's a significantly profitable industry. For instance German football teams already started their trainig. If that would happen, there is no reason to hold dancing back anymore . Therefore, these kind of open discussions and forums are very important to keep society of dancers aware and together. Thanks Mory

It's very easy to allow only established couples to dance but what are the rest of us supposed to do? Social distancing is impossible in such a setting. The best way is to wait until the number of cases have dropped to 0 or close to zero. That might take some time when spikes and a second wave are likely. Plus we saw the economy on its knees during quarantine lockdown period. Things are trying to return to normal but it's very difficult because of the ongoing spikes a d restrictions. The safest way to dance is not to dance anywhere else other than your own home and with people living with you but most of us don't have that luxury. Online teaching is only a short term solution but it is a very limited way, needless to say that it isn't really much fun. It's not really the point of why we go out to dance, meet people and dance with them and see them over and over again in any case. For the sake of a quick fix solution, a video I saw showed people dancing in masks and that seems to work provided we use sanitizer every time we change to a new partner.

Here in Sweden you can't find any partner dancing. No salsa, bachata or kizomba. Though my dancing school has continued solo dancing classes again after some weeks off. Ballet, hip-hop, bollywood, etc. But no latin dances.

Oke, great to hear. Do you organize any partner dancing at all? I belief Sweden has the mix between keeping the freedom and being careful at the same time right. Most countries have it wrong if you ask me.

Is there a special reason why you didn't include masks in your scenario's? If safe and standardized masks are available then all salsa could resume with the requirement that everybody wears a mask. Since these masks already exist it should take a lot less time to mass-produce.
