Have you heard of the 90-10 fishing rule?
The 90/10 fishing rules states that 90% of the fish are going to be in 10% of the water.
It’s true for all inshore saltwater fish, but especially flounder.
If you’re using an attractive search bait, like a paddletail or topwater lure, a redfish or trout might come chase it down when they hear or feel the commotion.
However, flounder plant themselves on the bottom waiting for an easy meal to swim by, so unless you put your lure right in front of their face, there’s essentially zero chance of you catching one.
To catch them, you need to be very intentional about when and where to find them.
So where do flounder like to hang out?
See the answer in this video.
P.S. Using these tips, I was able to land my personal-best flounder, and then beat it the very next week!

I caught my first flounder this weekend and it makes sense because the area I caught it I was randomly casting a lure at a choke point next to an oyster bed. Now that I know that’s a hot spot for them I’ll be going back. Thanks for the info!!

As a Diver who use to dive at night around shipwrecks in the Gulf of Mexico from 55' to 122 ft deep and around Rigs and Piers I totally agree...! They would be laying in any open flat place on the ocean floor in or around Rigs Wrecks Piers Ect. And I have watched their eyes move independent of each other (Really Cool) As I have held my Dive light on them before I would stick them with my Pole spear and stack them up like pancakes. Miss that more than anything. I Love Flounder

Had some interesting encounters during the day but never seen one at night. I say it's safer at night. !

I like that you draw arrows and lines to indicate what you are talking about but could you please place a CIRCLE where your cast bait actually enters the water. Depending on the area and current it might be tough. If you can naturally drift, give that a go
@youdonthavetoreadthispost.5850

They are impervious to strong current and can feed in the rips. They just lie there and wait for a 'moving bait' to drift over them. You can troll them in bays at high slack water. They love inlets and drop off's, channel edges and, as noted here 'choke points' like behind closed locks waiting to move through. With strip baits learn to 'drop back'. They like to feed from the tail (stinger hooks work well). The belly makes a good strip bait.
