This was the most realistic grooming video I’ve seen. My puppy is a 8 month old Sheepadoodle. I comb him daily, and have clipped him myself, but the mats are still multiplying by the minute. They snowball so quickly! Thanks for the video! Well done.

I started small grooming sessions early...at about 8 wks. Mainly focused on feet, sanitary and face (bridge of nose so he could see😜). If you have a dog that will require grooming I highly suggest starting asap as puppies and do stuff EVERY day...like nail clipping and comb out. Will save you & your dog sooo much stress.

you did such a great job! I have an almost 6 month sheepadoodle. we had a mobile groomer come to the house around 4 months and she was not herself for 2 days. so I decided to take on grooming myself. we have always done almost daily grooming sessions and I have invested in all the tools. in the next few weeks I will be taking on a full body trim and I think it will look something like this from how our mini sessions go. your video made me smile and is encouraging 😊

Thanks. I love doing it myself. If it turns out bad I just do it differently the next time😆. It’s just hair. It usually takes me two days. One day for the body and maybe head trim with scissors. Then I tackle the legs the next day or when we have more patience. Salty does not like his legs done, so sometimes it’s an actual tackle! My favorite hair product/game changer for my sheepadoodle’s hair is Cowboy Magic Detangler! Cuts down on the daily combing after the puppy fur grows out. Good luck!🐾🐶

@@saltysdogtraining1451 thanks for the encouraging words 😊 she has been shedding more than normal the last few weeks and the matts on her arms have been awful. the cowboy magic detangler just came in the mail this morning and we used it this afternoon. OMG it works so well! just a tiny dab is a miracle worker for even the worst matts. as I was working them out I was apologizing to her for not finding this stuff sooner 😂

Your dog is just like mine. The fluffy fur and snout and size and active disposition. It's about time for his first cut. Now I have confidence to do it since I saw your video. If you can do it, I can do it! Well done!

This is why I pay someone to groom my sheepadoodle. He behaves better for the groomer than he does me. Salty is a cutie but oh my, so much hair and so big!

Linda J haha! I still groom him myself and I’ve gotten better at it. I usually do his body and head one day and the legs/feet another day to give him a break🐾🐶

Thanks so much! You groomers have a back breaking job! It now takes me two days to get the job done, but I love it. Doodles are high maintenance.

What type of clippers did you use? what size?

Hi. I use an Oster A5 2 speed animal clipper. For that grooming I used the 3F blade. Now that all his puppy fur has grown out he doesn’t mat as much. But I also use Cowboy magic detangler which has been a game changer and I can clip him a little longer with a #4 or #5 guard on the 10 blade. Hope that helps🐾🐶

What is the trimming device you are using? Brand name? Price? Would love to know. Thanks.
@saltysdogtraining14513 жыл бұрын
I tried to send the picture from Amazon but this is the description of the one that I have. I really like it. I use a 3F blade that you have to purchase separately. That takes it down pretty short but that’s what I would start with. You can always buy attachments that you put on the 10 blade for a longer clip. But if they’re matted you need to go shorter. @@saltysdogtraining1451 This is so kind of you! Thanks. I am keeping this on file. We will be moving to France this year, permanently, and hope to get an Old English Sheepdog or a Sheepdoodle, so we will need something of this sort if we want to cut down our grooming costs. Thanks again.

When you get a hair breed dog practice grooming them when they are young. That way they learn to stand still and are not scared of the clippers
