@SalvoG THIS is just one of their many many hits over their 40+ year career! The movie this was in was a blockbuster and won awards too including some for their music. Welcome to the wonderful world of NO AUTO TUNE BABY! Isn't is awesome? Exactly how you head them here IS exactly how quite a few of my friends heard them in concert cuz they were able to score tickets! They used to sellout within minutes! They were constantly adding show's at the Nassau Coliseum and also Madison Square Garden. I live like 10 minutes away from the Coliseum IF you drive slowly 😂 So if you couldn't get tickets over there? Within the week, level was playing would be at Madison Square Garden. The Garden is like an hour and 15 minute ride on the LIRR away. Believe me~any concert nights going to or out of NYC? Those train were like open bar cars! It was a lotta fun! We'd just walk in there with cases of beer & bottles in our jackets and none of the conductor said anything. IF anything they well just like hey you guys going to a concert tonight? Who's playing? 😂#NYGenXBIKERLady

Barry is the oldest. Andy was the youngest. He died when he was thirty. Robin and Maurice were twins and I saw a documentary that said they just knew when to put their voices in a song at different times. Maurice died in 2003 and Robin in 2012. Barry is the last one left. I saw a documentary that said Andy and Barry were like twins down to birthmarks. I am so glad I grew up in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s best music ever.

Being the big fan that I was I was simply blown away that the instructor had decided to use this song to keep time with doing the chest compressions. The fantastic beat was perfect to use to keep time with the compressions. Thank you Thank you SalvoG for sharing so many great memories of the BeeGees. Began in 1958 and had a 40+ year career. At one time they had 5 hits in the top ten simultaneously. One of the bestselling groups of all time. Wrote more than 1,000 songs including hits for other artists. Barry Gibb, the oldest brother, is the only one still alive but he's still producing music, composing and performing. The loss of his 3 younger brothers has been devastating to him. So talented and known for their tight and beautiful harmonies. They all had falsetto voices in their musical abilities but Barry's was exceptional. Check out "Nobody Get's Too Much Heaven"!

The Bee Gees essentially wrote and composed the entire soundtrack to the movie in a weekend and submitted the demos a few days later. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack had 4 or 5 #1 hits on it and is one of the top 10 best selling albums of all time. Disco was big before the Bee Gees but they absolutely turbo charged Disco. The Bee Gees however were soooo much more than a Disco band. Their catalogue is deep and worth every minute of it. They were one of the biggest bands of all time. Pop. Soul. Ballads. Disco. They did it all.

Yes, this is Barry, the oldest brother (and the only one still alive), listed as the best falsetto, but I love also his chest voice. The falsetto songs (era) are only a small part of their songs (they wrote more than 1000 and over 100 top 10 songs). "The subject matter of 'Stayin' Alive' is actually quite a serious one; It's about survival in the streets of New York, and the lyrics actually say that". "Fun" fact:„At 103 BPM (beats per minute), "Stayin' Alive" corresponds to the recommended heart rate for cardiac massage and is well suited as a memory aid because of its popularity and the appropriate title

The Bee Gees made the movie a big hit. And they write/wrote all their own songs; and none of them could read or write music! I don't think the movie would have been half as good without the Bee Gee's soundtrack. They had a younger brother, Andy, who was going to be the 4th Bee Gee, but he passed away at the age of 30. Barry’s signature falsetto originated in the studio when producer Arif Mardin asked if any of the Bee Gees could scream in falsetto. They were recording ad libs and background vocals for their hit “Nights On Broadway” which was on their Main Course album. Mardin was absolutely stunned at the power of Barry’s falsetto. Barry later said “My whole life, I didn’t know I could do this.”

They recorded this in the mid seventies, long before autotune. They performed it on stage, too. No pauses, for sure. I read a comment somewhere that it takes unshakeable self confidence to sing a line like, "Well you can tell by the way I use my walk I'm a woman's man no time to talk!" In a relentless falsetto like theirs. They sing three part harmony in falsetto, a remarkable achievement. But they can sing in regular voices, too. Most of their early records aren't in falsetto. And oh yeah, Saurday Night Fever was a huge hit, and the songs from it were everywhere. The Bee Gees wrote all their own music, including the hits from this movie.

Great reaction to one of the best selling groups of all time. Saturday Night Fever was a smash hit, and Travolta was great in it. Love The Bee Gees!

You have rabbit hole of material to listen to when it comes to The BeeGees…wether it’s their own recordings, or the music they produced for so many other acts. The Soundtrack to “Saturday Night Fever” is a great place to start. This is one of the biggest selling soundtracks in music history. You might wanna check out the album written and produced the Barry Gibb for Barbra Streisand…it is a FANTASTIC album with at least 4 major chart topping songs.

Four of the songs on the Streisand LP (including the hits Guilty and Woman in Love) were written by Barry and Robin, the rest by Barry and Alby Galuten and Richardson and one by Barry.

Guilty was actually written by all 3 brothers, and Karl Richardson wasn't a co-writer on any but part of the Gibb-Galuten-Richardson production team.🎶

Hi Salvo, yes Saturday Night Fever was a hit movie and this album was fire. The BeeGees (Brothers Gibb) are a humongous multi decade rabbit hole. There are many styles and sounds as they progressed from the early Australian days to the last days. Barry is the surviving brother. Enjoy the journey! I’m sure you’re inundated with requests by now. I’ll second or add How Deep Is Your Love.

Imagine creating the most life-saving song of all time..?? For those who don’t know: If someone falls over and you can’t sense a beat from putting a pressure on their wrist or neck/throat, you can find the heart by: Feeling for the bottom left rib and going to the middle. (Right is: 3 on your watch. Left is 9) and, point four fingers up and four fingers in, from the ribs edge and then pump to the rhythm to “Staying Alive”

You definitely have to listen to Massachusetts with all 3 singing but Robin sings his voice is pure magic. Absolutely every song that they sing is amazing!! Their younger brother Andy Gibb was also a huge star but unfortunately passed away very young. The only one left is. Barry and check out all of hit songs that Barry wrote for other singers that were huge hits as well as all of the duets Barry sang with others. ❤ thank You for sharing

Many of the songs they wrote for others (Guilty and Woman in Love for Streisand, Emotion for Samantha Sang, Come on over for Olivia Newton John, Chain Reaction for Diana Ross, Islands in the Stream for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton) were written by Barry and Robin together or by all three.

OMG your face was epic during this. And like everyone who has EVER heard it you could not stop moving. Here in the Uk there were certain artists that dominated the charts in the 70's ABBA, Elton John and the Bee Gee's to names but 3 their music still sounds fresh today as it was based on pure talent not sounds tweaked in studios. Got to do Too Much Heaven next.

I'll show up for more Bee Gees. You will get a ton of suggestions for their popular work, a lot from mid to late 70's era, but I fell in love with Bee Gees after going through their entire catalog and finding so much fantastic, diverse, interesting music. They started putting out music when they were still kids in Australia (released 1965) and continued until 2001 (last album "This is Where I Came In"). Mo died in 2003 followed by Robin in 2012 (younger brother Andy died in 1988 at the age of just 30). Barry eventually continue on without his brothers (enlisting the help of his kids and his niece) and put out a good album in 2016 (In The Now), followed by the "Greenfields" album in 2021 which is a compilation of Bee Gee songs done by/with a variety of Country artists. Their music spans many genres with influences from Baroque Pop/Classical, Rock, R&B, Disco, Euro-Dance, Jazz, Americana/Country - of course all with their own Bee Gee style. All three brothers sang lead, although Barry and Robin most often with a lot of dual leads. (Side note: In UK Maurice is pronounce Morris and we all just call him Mo). They were born in Isle of Man (UK dependency), immigrated to Australia when young, then went back to UK in 60s for career, and eventually settled in US Florida. There is also a ton of "unreleased" Bee Gee music floating around KZfaq and some of that is quite good as well (among my favs is "I'VE GOT TO LEARN" and "IT DOESN'T MATTER MUCH TO ME" and "END OF MY SONG"). They rarely did covers althrough a little bit in the early days (fantastic cover of Dylan's "Blowing in the Wind" when they were still kids, and the Beatles "Ticket to Ride") the two notable covers later in their career are Carole King's "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" that was done as part of a tribute, and Robin's version of "Ellan Vannin" which is the unofficial anthem of Isle of Mann - both are beautiful. On top of all that, these guys were/are funny, down to earth, survivors. They came from humble roots and evolved personally and musically through the times. There are many interviews and appearances to be found on youtube and getting to know their personalities somehow makes the music even better. I hope you go down the Bee Gees rabbit hole, you won't be sorry.

These guys have soooo many hits. Barry (lead singer) is the only one left now. And in case you didnt know. If you had to do CPR on anyone, medics say that the beat to this song is how you should do it. Apt that its called "Staying Alive". The next one by The BeeGees should be "Tragedy", another great Disco soound. ❤🎼🎙🎙🎙

They are a real phenomenon, unfortunately only Barry is still with us! However all 3 brothers have talented children!

Completely blown away I'm sure. These guys were incredible in the late 1970's. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing a Bee Gees song. Perhaps the most successful band in the 1970's. So here's a recap: Elvis in the 1950's; Beatles in the 1960's, Bee Gees in the 1970's; Michael Jackson in the 1980's, and I lost track of music after this.

EXCELLENT reaction-- so much fun watching you having so much fun!! Barry Gibb sang with Samantha Sang in the "Emotion" track and well as co-produced it with Galuten and Richardson. As with other songs the Bee Gees wrote for other specific artists, they sang backup-- or when Robin and Maurice were not available, Barry did back up and harmonies via multi-layering. The Gibb brothers were well-known for their generosity -- sharing their songs, writing for others. Name another elite, world-class group who were as generous!!

The Bee Gees are brothers they started singing as kids in the late 50s and kept going as a group until Mo died in 2003. Their music changed with the times which is why they are tied with McCartney and Lennon for the most number one songs ever written. Barry didn't realize he could sing falsetto until 1975 while doing add libs for their Main Course album when asked to go out and scream high into the mic. The Bee Gees are my favorite group. And yes the movie was a huge hit, they only had music on it because their manager was producing the movie and bugged them for songs for it. They didn't even read the script that they were given, only knew it was about a kid who worked in a paint shop who blew his money in dance clubs on the weekends and enters a dance competition.
