I‘ve seen the lawsuit and I think the main reason is that AGI is a threat humanity when big companies like Microsoft are involved. That is the whole point, which is not discussed here.

I think what Sam is trying to say is that Elon basicalky wanted to benefit from OpenAI for himself and Tesla which overall is just himself and not basically for humanity which would mean that he stopped donating to force OpenAI to do it and if that is true then they(OpenAI) are the good guys. I like Elon too but i think people are more bias towards Elon and because Sam has a small fandom he is likely to get crushed by the fans of Elon but the way i see it Elon is not the good guy here and neither are openAI the bad guys

Elon stands with principles, and is literally creating a social media platform that aligns with liberty and freedom amidst massive controversy worldwide. The founding fathers would be proud. That's why he left - from everything I have heard. OpenAI started to go against the principles that align with the philosophy of liberty (open-source, objective based, truth optimizing).

Yes - lets make the model open-source, give huge amount of cloud resources and GPUs for free so that the Ayatollahs and Kim Jong Uns of the world can build a doomsday weapon out of this. In one end - he is saying that AI poses the greatest existential danger to human kind (worse than nuclear weapons) and on the other hand he is saying that OpenAI should make their model open source? NEVER in one single interview has he cared to explain to the general public and his fan boys as how open sourcing such a technology will reduce that existential risk!!! And Lex being an AI expert himself hasn't even bothered to ask him this, despite having numerous oppurtunities

Sam himself admited if he was to do this again he WOULD NOT do a not for profit. He would do a 'for-profit' because it is the only way to get investors to scale something up.

Musk has principles and wanted the company to remain Open source non-profit for a reason. This transformation of OpenAI shows what Altman's principles are (or lack there of). Yes, you're a good capitalist and so is Musk but that's not the point is it, and you know it isn't - you're saying that to intentionally illude the crux of Musk's argument. You can pretend not to understand it - but we the silent majority see you and what you're doing and we think can see that you're chasing the classic $$$

The foundation of which OpenAI was founded upon was that the code would be open source for free for developers and consumers to use. OpenAI would receive adequate funding from billionaires to research and produce new AI innovative software for free for the public and then they did a deal with Microsoft

If a legit AGI is created it should be closed source for the same reason its illegal for everyday citizens build nuclear weapons, it should be cencored to not do (or explain how to do) terrible shit, be it on a website or in a humaniod robot. If its a free public good that would be amazing =D

This is all a great idea and he seems well intentioned, but also will be taking away millions of people's ability to create a sense of importance away. I hope I'm wrong and this is just another technological advancement that improves humanity that we laugh at being concerned about.

Sam and Elon are lovely people, and I think Elon should reconsider this lawsuit. Elon is already the most successful entrepreneur of all time. The reality is that OpenAI and SpaceX are the most exciting companies in the world. I hope Elon and Sam can work together to build the first-generation Robot to land on Mars on Starship by 2025. There is an exciting future in the hands of both Elon and Sam. Possibly, in the second Mars journey we can send humans.

Well it was kind of like he was forced to be on the show this time. There was no chemistry and on top of that, Lex kept forcing the Elon Musk questions. Overall not the best episode in my opinion

There are two things here… First, it is impossible to say that no-one knew what the long-term intention was. There was, undeniably, an explicit intention - rightly or wrongly, you guys chose to start a non-profit together - the governance structure embodies the intention. Also, I’d like to say I didn’t believe that Elon didn’t also try to take it for-profit and that his motive is pure, but 🤷🏻‍♀️ I suspect he’s not an angel. Things that are done are done. The thing to remember is that, broadly, you’re on the same side, and the future will manifest the thing we spend the most time thinking about so…be realistic about realistic impacts (surveillance capitalism, societal disruption, etc, etc) but try not to make the things we fear by either pretending it they are not really a problem nor over-focusing on them. There’s a danger that if we fear things too much, the actions we take actually create them. Something to bear in mind when considering friendly competition perhaps 😂

There is a limit as to how much technology can make life better. After that the technology is just a burden that gets in the way. We are now past the point where more technology matters.
