The Apache attack helicopter demonstrated its firepower in this event for the first time, by engaging targets with Air to Ground guided missiles, while Mi-17 helicopters engaged ground targets with rockets. Joint operations included the IAF and Indian Army's weaponised version of the Advanced Light Helicopters Mk-IV devastating simulated enemy targets using their rockets and swivel guns. As another first, IAF Chinook helicopters demonstrated rapid deployment of combat assets by airlifting the Indian Army's M-777 Ultra-Light Howitzers in an underslung mode enabling prompt destruction of simulated enemy targets on ground.
As the sun set on the horizon, Garuds inserted by Mi-17 helicopters carried out an ‘Urban Intervention' demonstrating their prowess in anti-terror/insurgency operations aimed at clearing hideouts of inimical elements. The indigenous Air Defence Systems, Akash and SAMAR missile systems were also showcased, destroying multiple aerial targets.
Night events displayed for the first time the capabilities of indigenous Light Combat Helicopter 'Prachand' wherein it neutralised designated target with rockets. This was followed by a Jaguar and Su-30 MKI dropping heavy calibre and area weapons at night showcasing the strategic bombing capability of the lAF. Remotely Piloted Aircraft carried out the bomb damage assessment of all targets that was live streamed to the operations centre and to the audience.
The event also included a free fall drop by the Akashganga team and flare dispensing by C-130J by night. In the spirit of jointness, a Tri-service band enthralled the audience with their tunes.

I noted that on Vayu Shakti day the missile is traveling in a spiral near the target, whereas in earlier demonstration it traveled without spirling.

I think, what people say about RF Proximity Fuse failing is false.. Instead what actually happened with SAM-AR is that RF Proximity fuse (in R73) was made to detect high RCS targets.. If it was Laser Proximity it would have been hilarious to see Pakistan and China respond to it.. Trust me, we know that Psychological warfare plays as SHOCK-AND-AWE effect towards enemies..😅 whatever happened in Vayushakti with Akash and SAM-AR Air Defence system was very good.. atleast it'll provide cover for actual India's capabilities in Rocket systems..😊

We need to conduct such exercises periodically, as it validates our systems. Our adversaries are nuclear capable. We need 100% perfect SAM systems w/out any glitch or malfunction. We had still not learned from SU-30 failure post Balakot face-off.

Failure is failure!! But chance of failure may be less 2%!! May be hardware or software the mistake should rectified and we need fail proof systems !!

मिसाइल टारगेट के काफी करीब गयी थी अगर टारगेट कोई एयरक्राफ्ट होता तो वो जरूर हिट करती , R73 सोवियत मिसाइल है , उसको जुगाड़ लगा के हमने एयर डिफेन्स सिस्टम बनाया है , वो आज की मिसाइलों जितनी आधुनिक नही है , वो सिर्फ एक जुगाड़ है जो मुश्किल समय में काम आएगा । मुझे तो इसमें कोई फेलियर नही दीखता।

USA and UK are downing multiple drones using AMRAAMs and naval SAMs....this looks like a failure unless the warhead was deliberately a INERT warhead where msl trajectory within a certain proximity to the tgt can be deemed to b a effective hit

Warhead less due to banosri save. Just test mechanism. So successful. Banosree should toed expendable target then it hit. Last day target hit. Before 3day. All test cost effective manner. Only mechanism test without destroyed target.

Such missiles should able to hit the target, size of the target is immaterial. Armed drones or other small projectiles, also can inflict huge devastation. So the missile displayed, should have been able to hit the target and destroyed it. Missing this target is definitely not acceptable. Flaw should be corrected and rigorous tests should be conducted before induction.

Chalo maan liya target was small BC in actual war they will use suicide drone how will you defend it? 1. Day before yesterday R 73 missile hit the MEAT target but failed yesterday Why 50/50 ? In actually war don't complain that the target was small

Bro did you not understand the video ? The day R73 hit the target, the missile path was pre-decided and followed that ffixed path. But in Vayushakti 2024, R73 followed an actual real-time path and not a decided path, it did reach to the target as needed. R73 also didn't explode in Vayushakti 2019, go look.

@@vigilante3916 Bro R73 is an old missile, it was not designed for anti-small drone purpose, it was designed for anti-aircraft (or big drones). We have anti-drone systems for small drones.

So it can only hit fighter jets in short range? Nowadays fighter jets work with long range air to ground weapons then it will be big problem to have such a SAM system that can’t hit jet engine/rocket motor powered UAVs in close range.

We hv to understand wt is R73 missile. Its a jugad. Using ur old stock pile of R73 AAM into a SAM system. Nw in Air Combat BVR missile is used. So old stock clearing process in a cost effective manner. If sucess rate 90plus then its very very satisfactory as per me.

MEATs uses Retro refractors during such demonstrations to mimic fighter size , size can not be considered as an excuse

MEATs are still small nonetheless. You cant expect a missile designed to hit aircraft the size of MiG 29s and F 16s to hit a drone with that size. The R 73's radio proxy fuses need a good enough size to detonate. The missile getting that close is good enough to demonstrate the hit. Somethings our immature defence audience will never understand!

@@devanshudwivedi5875 MICA has a laser proxy fuse. Making it extremely sensitive to changes in it's environment. A radio fuse is older and needs a bigger target to be triggered. Also your last part of your reply makes no sense.

@@Therabbit2210 Maybe you dont know how combat works, but no matter how good your PGMs get, you still need to get close to deliver some weapons (such as anti air field strikes and depot strikes). That is when your shot range systems shine, by your logic, all MANPADs are outdated and the countries building MANPADs today are stupid. You seemed to have completely missed the point about R 73s VS tiny target drones.

Anyone who watches keenly will note that Indian Air Force in recent times has shown extremely poor performance and efficiency in all aspects. List of incidents 1.Mig 21 shot down at Balakot 2.Own helicopter shot down by friendly fire 3.Accidental firing of Brahmos missile into Pakistan 4.IAF Su-30 and Mirage 2000 crashing into each other during training exercise from Gwalior AF 5.Missiles not able to destroy target and Tejas not able to hit targets during bombing mission in Vayushakti 2024 All these are apart from numerous crashes due to aircraft maintenance issues or incompetent flying by pilots. Institutionally, very slow decision making in all major procurement processes like MRFA etc Clearly, the Airforce is the weakest link in our armed forces

Agar ye drone ko hi shoot kar rahe honge to inko in missile ki capability nahi pata thi ki ye sirf real jet ko hi mar sakta hai aur aa gye itne bade show me puri duniya jisko dekh rahi h waha drone marne nahi ye failure hai itne log bewkoof nahi h ki fighter jet marne wali missile se drone mare aur fir air defence ka mtlb hi kya jab itne bade drone ko v na maar pao mujhe nahi pagta israel ka iron dome ya s400 miss karte..

The TEJAS failed to hit air and ground targets and both SAMAR and Akash failed to hit slow non manoeuvring targets on predictable paths! Only Rafale achieved air to air hit! Overall a failure that showed unreliability of Indian weapons and equipment!
