If Sam becomes the franchise QB for the Vikings, you KNOW the Jets are gonna fire Salah and retool the entire organization. They 100% are going to try to get the best offensive HC they can find in a guy like Ben Johnson or Bobby Slowik.

I'm really hoping Nick Mullens is the Backup QB. If Sam Darnold get's hurt early in the season, there's really no reason to force JJ in, into a game where he'll be taken off guard, unprepared, and the worst case, is that it's against a series of harder opponents since our early schedule is the hardest for sure.

It’s the way it should be. JJ was my guy in the draft, but I definitely think he would benefit from a redshirt. I would actually like to see the team keep Mullins as a backup, and let JJ be the emergency third string QB. We can try and stash Hall on the practice squad, if someone picks him up oh well.

Darnold never had anything to work with except the niners and he wasn’t going to beat out Purdy. Jets…trash, Panthers…trash. I wish people would quit writing him off like he’s a scrub. Don’t be surprised if he has a better year with the Vikings than Mayfield had with Browns last year. If he stays healthy. Let JJ sit for a year, maybe two. There is no need to rush him out on the field. People kill me with this, “make JJ QB1 now…Nooooo”. We’ve never seen what Darnold can do with weapons and a good play caller/coach. Give the guy a chance.

Facts. Dude had Adam Gaze in NY and a defensive minded HC in Carolina. Didn’t have anything close to good until he got to SF. Honestly he’s never had an opportunity like this. People disregard circumstances without looking at facts. How many QBs have succeeded lately with the Jets and Panthers. No one is saving a crap franchise. People need to stop the madness

He's not giving him a run for his money, he is the presumptive starter. It would be more appropriate to say Rooke JJ McCarthy is giving Sam Darnold a run for his money. OYE.

Here's the deal guys......As much as we might not realize it, the coaches are smarter than us. For everyone beating the drum for JJ, you obviously believe in his talent and ability to elevate this team.....SO (in theory) if Sam beats out JJ, he has to be slightly better at running this offense. Make this a LEGITIMATE battle and give it to the best man. It's a win for the team and we just have to sit back and let it play out....Sam has seen things JJ has NEVER seen no matter how we decide to judge Sam, I believe he has a leg up on JJ. That's just me rambling though.

The plan assumed by fans is to sit McCarthy. The more likely reality is the guy who provides the best chance to win will start. In my opinion, odds are JJ McCarthy takes the job. Sam has definite talent, but his accuracy is poor. That’s a difficult problem to fix. Maybe they can make him better, but odds are not great in this most important facet of playing QB in the NFL.

And Baker on Carolina. 4-2 record vs 1-6. (Baker had CMC too). And Sam was 3-0 with CMC the year prior Before cmc got hurt. And than Sam went down a couple weeks later.
