Him, James Earl Jones, Tim Foust, Morgan Freeman, Tom Selleck now that he's older... they all have that sort of voice that just gets right to the core. There's a power there and a gravity that just catches the ancestral parts of the listener's brain.

@texbrashear4831
@texbrashear4831 2 жыл бұрын
That's actually for an acoustic reason. Men who use gutteral whispered speech can't do it at a loud level. It wouldn't take much noise in the studio to drown him out completely, so they HAVE to be quiet. It's just a couple of notches above a whisper in reality. People misuse the word "deep" when speaking of voices when they mean to say "low-pitched." If you've ever heard Elliot scream in movies, his voice has to go up an octave to do so. His voice is NOT deep when he is speaking at his lowest pitch. For comparison, imagine a ukelele playing it's lowest note, and an upright bass (double bass) playing that exact same note. They are both the same pitch (lowness), but whereas the ukelele note will fade out very quickly, the upright bass will resonate it's note much louder, farther, and much longer, as it is far deeper than a uke. Sam Elliot is quite skinny, and doesn't have the acoustic build for great vocal depth. His voice is low pitched, but very little depth. That's why many of the world's male and female trained opera singers can project their notes so far away, is because greater body bulk adds to the depth of their "instrument."

The way Sam Elliot acts really reminds me of my late Grandpa, he passed away nearly 2 years ago right before thanksgiving day 2020 at the age of 76. He was old school and when he spoke you listened, not because he was intimidating, but because when he spoke you heard confidence, experience, intelligence and wisdom in his voice.

While his voice itself is impressive, what makes it even better is his apparent gift of speech. He speaks with an economy of words, saying what needs to be said, nothing more, as evidenced by his answer to whether he knew his voice would be his calling card. 'No'....... He's unrushed when he speaks and has a natural ability to know just when to pause and for how long. There's a rhythm to his voice/speech. And my goodness he just seems so honest and genuine. Who wouldn't want Sam Elliot to give the eulogy at their funeral.

Have always loved this actor. I hadn’t seen him for years. However, when I saw him again, I nearly died with my legs in the air, what happened to his dark brown hair and his moustache. It was then I came to the conclusion and realised I had also gotten old as well, but he still is incredibly incredible, that velvety voice has always made this poor old ducks heart flutter.

I worked with Sam at Broken Hill, Australia on a job called "The Blue Lightning" a very non memorable film but fun to work on. He's a hell of a nice guy and was to all the crew. Some very funny stories there but one I can remember when the little director had him running up a searing hot hill with a huge hand gun about 10 times before Sam came out with this. Director: "Sam, Sam, you gotta give it some spice, some high action, some, some, speed man. You're a hero Sam, a hero!" to which Sam answered looking exhausted....."there's nowhere in the script where it says that the hero don't get fucken tired!"....in that wonderful voice.

His talks, his sense of humor, the way he slumps to the side, the way he stands.. My papaw passed away in 2019 and the ranch makes me feel at home. Because home to me was never a place.. my Papaw was HOME. Thank god for this man. He brings me peace and always reminds me of PAPAW 😔♥️
