All the references he makes to Seattle makes my heart so happy, having been born there. I lived for a long time, but moved away becauae of my dads work. It has been over 10 years since I have been home, and I miss it dearly. I miss the rain, I miss the ocean, I miss the smell after it rains, I miss walking in the rain. I miss all the family I have in Washington. I think its about time I start making plans to return home for a visit. I must say I miss the rain a lot, because I don't get a lot of it where I am now, because we are considered to be high altitude desert, so when it does rain, I get super giddy and feel extremely nostalgic. A couple years ago I moved from Seattle to a state across the US. It was tough. I totally relate with this song. I struggled for about a year adjusting and missed home so much. Nothing will ever compare and beat the scenic greenery, mountains, water, and the fresh air. I remember driving during the night through the city and it gave me life and a sense of joy you can only have when you recollect on memories. What a beautiful tribute to our Home. ❤️

not to be too poetic but i was studying and just as this song came on it started raining and the sky was kinda yellow? i was sitting by the window and the lyrics really got to me. because i'm studying for university entry exams that will have me move to another city if i pass. I've always said that Sam is one of those singers who makes you feel in love even if you're not. The first time i heard this song i was away from home and cried for hours. Today, in my home, in the arms of those i love and receiving that rain that he says in the song, i still feel sad and lonely because his voice makes me feel that way. No words to describe how much i love his talent.

It makes me think about how we all are so excited to leave and move away from the place we have been raised, especially if you’re like me and you’ve lived in the same place all of your life. I know that one day I will long for home, and I will miss these days so much. I try to be thankful for everyday and not wish time away (as my great grandmother said), as it’s only here for a little while and then it’s gone forever.

I had never heard this song. I'm the one of the few native Seattleites in the city. LOL I was looking up the lyrics to "Seattle". The old song that starts, "The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle." I wanted to check a line in the 3rd stanza. After I was done, I had an impulse to listen to some different versions of the song they listed below. This song happened to also be in the list. I clicked on it, thinking it was a different version of the same song. Boy, was I in for a surprise. And a heart-wrenching surprise it was. So very glad I went down the rabbit hole and found this song. I'm one of those people who know a good thing when they have it. I don't need to lose it to make me realize how good I had it. I have never moved away from Seattle, but I'm sure, just based on the amount I missed it when I traveled, that I would miss it just like this. Beautiful song. Beautifully conveyed emotions.
