- a three-day NATO summit has started in Washington, DC, and will take place on 9-11 July. For the first time, it will be attended by the leaders of 32 countries - the full membership of the Alliance since Sweden and Finland joined NATO. The topic of Russia's war against Ukraine will be one of the main topics of discussion, especially after Russia's strikes on Kyiv, the Okhmatdyt hospital and other Ukrainian cities the day before;
- In Warsaw, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk signed an agreement on security cooperation between the two countries on 8 July. Under this agreement, Poland pledges to continue supporting Ukraine for the ten years of the document's validity;
- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who arrived in Beijing for a surprise visit, held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
