In the wake of the Standoff , Steve Rogers is reinvigorated and back in the red, white and blue. Sam Wilson still wields the shield, but must once again struggle to find his place in the country he seeks to represent. Can the United States handle two Captain Americas? Things may get even worse when Civil War erupts. Against the backdrop of a deepening crisis, Sam is called upon to honor a fallen hero - and speak to a divided nation. But will anyone listen to him? Maybe not with #givebacktheshield trending. As the battle lines form, Sam must choose a side. But when the Americops come, what's he gonna do?

It's always interesting when comic books dare to talk about controversal issues. For medium that's all about telling stories about larger than life characters they can be really mature. Too bad that not all comic book readers are mature enough to understand those issues.

if you disapprove of this story arc why are you here. you clearly dont know a thing about falcon or what he has been through as a character over the years. im sorry we cant always have white super heroes that save the god damn day. but i guess thats the special privilege you have, to where you can dictate what story tellers put in there comics. dont like it tough shit read something else. Hell some my favorite superheroes are white and i read because of the characters. what they stand for is more important than a fake agenda you believe exist.

Having a s story about complex social issues is in fact nothing new to marvel. Mark Millar in the mid 2000's wrote a lot of Anti bush stories in the main MU and the Ultimate one. This issue I have is the writer has clearly not put the same amount of time as researching both points of view like Millar. They water down issues and have it written in such a way that there is only one correct side. Take civil war for example. Millar took the time to show the flaws in both sides perspectives and actions.

Love the captain america story. Especially Sam Wilson as Captain America. When he first took over Rogers as Captain america, I hated it but now, seeing hydra rogers destroy the marvel heroes behind the scenes, I really hope Sam Wilson defeats Rogers at the end of this story and stays Captain America

Katfish1216 it's never been this bad in marvel Donald Trump being a villain, hands up don't shot with cap, and riri, bor in Angela saying unsolicited opinions on Israel, female thor hitting a guy for using feminism like it's a four letter word, skull pirates saying they're progressive feminist. all these are just tactics used to divide people, and marvel is just spewing it from every direction you can think of.

Neither is the current Steve Rogers, yet another character Marvel imo has ruined recently. Not necessarily because of the angle they went with for him, but because of how stupidly (at least to me) they're executing it... You'd think a change like that (considering he's been around since WW2) would have a HUGE impact on the universe. Yet there's basically no impact other than turning him into an edge lord. At least, that's my opinion.

Best story I've read in years as I always felt that Sam Wilson was in Steve Rogers' bubble. Good to see Falcon more grounded and unintentionally yet realistically forced to take a side. Good to remember Sam's origin of being racially profiled and jailed for a crime he didn't commit until S. Rogers' escorted him out the Precinct. I think people forget that good neighborhoods are Policed differently than crime infested ones, patrolled by inexperienced officers, screw-ups or underappreciated unable to Xfer.

To everyone complaining about comics having an opinion... You DO realize that from the beginning Comic writers have always expressed their opinions through their work? There's nothing wrong with for some reason disagreeing with the opinions stated in the comics but just because the characters have REAL opinions does not mean they are "ruining" the comic run. This was a great and interesting story and if you don't like it don't watch/buy.

I don't see what the problem is, from literally the first issue of Captain America, it was made as a statement on America's neutrality during WWII, not only that, it was also *controversial*. Joe Simon and Jack Kirby got shit from creating a comic about confronting the Nazis.

how is a story with some greatest character developments in recent years (in the case of wonder woman) boring? How is story with a ending like The Lies boring? Greg Rucka did not 'not acknowledge' the events of the darkseid war if that's what you were meaning. He ignored them, sort of, but set a lot of charater dynamics straight.

I mean, in regards straight lifting and ability to execute athletic feats, yeah John's stronger. Where he falls short to Steve is in terms of tactics, actual intelligence, inferior training, less combat experience, and a generally weaker shield. Also John's more often referred to as USAgent.

Amazing video as always. I have a little suggestion to make, it would be good if you include some kind of backstory to these videos from time to time, so we have more context in here. For example, I have no idea who that Captain America in Black is, or the new falcon, this is the first time I've seen him. I think with just a little more backstory on these issues we will be more informed. Thanks for your good work, keep it up!

I don't get it why Sam has such an aversion to John Walker killing enemies when Steve Rogers does so as well. Granted, Walker doesn't see it as a last measure. I really hate that they made him into a straight up villain on this one, when they could've easily recycled another cap story since they are so keen on redoing stuff on this one.

Whether you like or hate the direction ANAD Captain America is going, I think it's worth reminding people that current events and politics have ALWAYS been reflected in comics and art in general. No comics are separate from politics or ideas of social justice. The opinions of the writer are always reflected in their work. The Punisher is a response to the Veitnam War. X-Men is all about Civil Rights politics, minorities, and drumroll... social justice! Captain America was born as a response to facism and he has the thickest roots in politics of all. As such the character has long been used to address America's political climate from the Red Scare, to the Cold War, and onward; so assuming he wouldn't now is honestly kind of naive. If Captain AMERICA doesn't at least somewhat represent the current state of America... what he stands for becomes irrelevant.

redsnake188 of course you don't like the direction it's going, you have no clue what it's like to be a colored American...this comic isn't for "your" type..it's for people to realize that racism exists and it's worst now than anything..."your" people will never understand...and you never will...

+9Master_Mind3 Congratulations. You just attacked white people for not knowing what it's like to be colored. Which goes both ways, since colored people don't truly know what it's like to be white. What you did is called racism AGAINST white people. The very thing you tried defining for colored people you just did right now. FYI, we know racism exists so stop assuming stuff. I'm not white nor' am I black, but using the very thing you hate against white people is fking stupid. +Martin Allen Just because someone doesn't like how a comic goes DO NOT ASSUME they can't "handle reality". Yes Marvel has been delivering things like this for Decades but, it's only been now (ANAD) that there's a whole surge of social issues which being a comic reader, I wouldn't want to hear of. Superhero Comics are meant to be primarily outside of reality, and shouldn't be influenced to doing major decisions simply if minorities want it. If they want more diverse super heroes, make new ones. Don't kill major heroes and replace them as a black, hispanic, brown, mexican, asian, etc. Like +Fabrizio cargnelutti said, It's pretty ironic for you guys talking about racism and calling out white people (I'm not white but seriously....)

Raza Jafri except comics have never stayed out politics especially in the case of descrimination. Also racism is defined as "prejudice , discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior". No one in this comment chain has a made a comment that even implies this. Stop watering down the mean of the word racism just because some one tells you have it easier than they do. It's rather childish and given how you responded it's beneath you.
