I always apply dry shampoo the second day before I go to bed. I have super dark hair (roots) and found this way I get zero whitecast. It also helps with when it’s hit through the summer and my roots might get a bit damp. Spray it on, messy bun on top of my head and brush it out in the morning 😊

@alyssamarie3904

Just found your video after talking to my best friend about a new dry shampoo I bought as I was going to try yet another different one. I am someone with very fine, oily, blonde hair. I also currently have to wash my hair every other day. I’m lucky that I do not have to wash it every day. However, I am also a frequent gym goer and I find that even after day one of washing my hair, going to the gym and simply having my hair pulled back in a ponytail, even if I don’t sweat, really causes it to immediately start becoming greasy. Which, if anyone has any tips on preventing greasy gym hair after a workout, whether it’s a recommendation for a dry shampoo or just recommending I use dry shampoo afterwards, let me know! Aside from how often I have to wash my hair already, the gym is my next biggest battle. But my best friend made a comment to me last night where she discovered it’s not the type of dry shampoo you buy or the brand, but how you use it. That prompted me to search how to apply dry shampoo on KZfaq and I just came across your video from that search. I am definitely guilty of using it as a treatment method rather than a prevention method. Funny enough I am actually planning on washing my hair today hours from now after I’m done working out at the gym as my hair at this point is already extremely greasy and unruly. I’m going to use your advice in this video and use dry shampoo on my hair after I wash it later and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I see a difference! I am someone who literally struggles with my hair getting greasy and oily so quickly so if this does make a difference as people in the comments have said it does, especially people with my hair type and situation, I will literally come back here, and bless you up and down 😂

@styledbysamvay
@styledbysamvay 2 жыл бұрын
I don't like the tinted ones, because they don't usually match the hair perfectly, so you can still see it. Just do short bursts at a time and hold it far away and don't apply it directly to your part, like I showed in the video, and you won't get a white cast.

Thank you for this, it was very helpful! I've also heard you should dry shampoo at night instead of the morning so it can set in your hair. What's your professional opinion on timing?
@styledbysamvay
@styledbysamvay 2 жыл бұрын
Lol that doesn't make any sense. How would it "set" any better at night vs in the morning? Plus, it really only takes a few seconds for it to absorb oil, so there isn't anything to set. I think there's no point in applying it at night, because then you'll just have great looking hair that you're about to sleep on ;)
@priscillanieto3322
@priscillanieto3322 2 жыл бұрын
@@styledbysamvay I actually find that applying it at night helps prevent any white cast in the morning because the dry shampoo has more time to dissipate before you have to go out. Although whether I use it in the morning or night I find that vigorously brushing my hair out after letting my dry shampoo sit & absorb anything for 5 minutes gets rid of any residue.
@kaileyvlack3235
@kaileyvlack3235 2 жыл бұрын
@@priscillanieto3322 same here! I feel applying at night helps the prevention thing Sam talked about, so that as the oils come out at night, the dry shampoo is already there to absorb. Also helps me use less rather than waiting for the morning.

Omg I’ve been having a whole saga with my scalp! I’ve always had thin/fine hair, but I’ve been noticing it’s been thinning for the last year, I think it was because I was wearing it in a ponytail everyday - or at least I hope, because at least that’s an easy fix. Add to that, my scalp was getting really oily so I was using dry shampoo, but then my scalp started flaking really badly so I stopped. I tried a new shampoo & conditioner, Function of Beauty, and OH MY GOD IT WENT HORRIBLY! I ended up with a red ring around the perimeter of my scalp - about an inch inside my hairline - where the skin had been burned off! I’ve switched to Briogeo, I figured a really gentle option was the way to go. Since the whole FoB debacle, my scalp has been SO DRY and still flaking, but my hair gets oily after a day/day-n-a-half, which is actually longer than it used to take. Ugh! I just don’t know what I’m doing and my poor scalp is paying the price.

Hope you are no longer struggling with this issue. But just incase you are or someone is in a similar situation, several years ago my dermatologist recommended over the counter Nizoral shampoo. It contains 1% Ketoconazole. You can purchase it on Amazon, Target or Walmart. This shampoo works wonders. I tried ointments and other treatments/shampoos and nothing came close to Nizoral. It relieved the itching, redness, dandruff, and all the buildup. I had awful and persistent patches on the front of my hairline and now they are gone for good.

Even if you're not allowing your hair to get super oily, it's still better than shampooing it every day because you're not drying out the lengths. You don't want to spray tooooo much though, because it won't feel good and too much build up on your scalp isn't good.

dry shampoos make my head itch, What can you replace with to give volume?
@priscillanieto3322
@priscillanieto3322 2 жыл бұрын
I have thick hair and to get the best results I part my hair a million different tiny times and concentrate the dry shampoo there. If I can't see any white residue than I feel like my hair remains limp with no volume. As if I just sprayed air from the can & not the dry shampoo itself. To remedy any heavy feeling or residue I vigorously brush it out with a combination boar bristle/nylon brush after letting it sit for 5 minutes. The 5 minutes is super important. Otherwise I feel like I just got rid of the dry shampoo before it actually did anything. I have been doing this for years now and only have to wash my hair once every 4 to 5 days. Another good tip for anyone reading: heavy dry shampoo users should clarify the hair once every 3-4 weeks. Dry shampoo can build up & if you're not properly clarifying your hair than you may think your dry shampoo isn't working when you may just have not gotten your hair clean in the first place.
