Good information for the students. I have read the novel twise. And also seen the moovie . I think the concept of samskara can be visualised in a different perspective. One is the rituals as you have pointed out and another is the culture and behaviour of the people. In this context the samskara of Praneshachary is on one plane.And that of others is on the another plane. Infact Narayanapp is a rebel not against Bramhanism but against the hypocracy of the so called branhimns . In comparison with others Chandri is more honest. Thus Praneshachary chandri and Narayanapp are more Cultured .

Let me throw light on few examples of how some words are written in Hindi. Karnataka is written as karnatak. Kannada is written as kannad. Maharashtra as maharastr. Assam as asam. This is a total misconception in the minds of the natives of Karnataka that by not pronouncing the proper name of their language we are teasing them. No, it's not. It's like we people are habituated to Hindi and speak more often the Hindi version of your language/region. A lot of south Indians pronounce kaashmir instead of Kashmir. So, is it a disrespect? Absolutely not. It's their way of pronouncing that particular word and one should respect that. Thus, it is not offensive and is merely a result of the differences between the pronunciations in Kannada and Hindi respectively. In Hindi, the swara अ is hardly used while speaking even though it appears while writing in the Devanagari script which is used while writing in Hindi. For instance, notice the way Karnataka is written in Hindi कर्नाटक. There is a अ swara at the end of the word but due to the difference in pronunciation, most people end up saying Karnatak and Kannad instead of saying Karnataka or Kannada. This is not the only instance where there is a difference in pronunciation. Even the name of our country is often pronunced as Bharat in the North and as Bharata in the South however written as भारत in Hindi language. Similarly, Rama in the South becomes Ram in the North and Arjuna becomes Arjun. So there is absolutely no reason to get offended if someone from another native language pronounces Karnataka as Karnatak or Kannada as Kannad. Hope this clarifies 🙏
