Many don't give Mr. Santana credit for being one of the Greatest Guitarist of the world. I think that is because he came to fame during the late 60's and most of the United States and Europe music fans were to deep onto Top Forty and what I call Pop Rock to take time to listen to his TALENT. He had some following in the Acid Rock crowd but few appreciated his finesse on the strings. His music always makes me want to dance and that is something I seldom feel from any musician. Hopefully Music History will one day give him his DUE.

Without doubt one of the most gorgeous tunes ever created and in my opinion this is the best version ever of it-and I should know! I saw Santana first in the Woodstock movie,1969/70 and they were the only band that really blew me away- and they were the only unknown band on the bill!! Saw the band on their first U.K. tour and every succeeding tour for the next 20 years or more.I've had the supreme pleasure of meeting Carlos and chatting with him for a couple of hours and believe me,he is the most sincere, generous and loving person you could meet. It's great to see that so many of you feel exactly the same sentiments as I do,I'm 71 years old now but I still find this tune both tear-jerking and totally uplifting and yes ,this on my "Final Mix Tape/CD/MP3 !!

I heard this song," Samba Pa Ti" in the early 70ties and thought it was the most erotic song I had every heard. Years passed and this past weekend spent with a friends and a music buff had like 16,000.00 song on an Ipod.Just playing random, I told him that I remember a song by Santana from way back then, music, no vocal. WELL in three minutes he found my song, it brought on the tears! A have flowed every time I've played it since. A then last evening I finally got to dance to it with my wonderful Husband, I can't describe the feeling of total peace I had. This is where I belong at this time, I weathered a lot of storms, but this song is me!!!!!!!!!!!

Carol, your words are beautifully said and from the heart. I agree completely and feel likewise. After Santana exploded onto the world scene with his band’s performance at Woodstock and not living in San Francisco and being a couple years too young to make that trip, I remember being totally blown away by his 2nd album Abraxas which "Samba Pa Ti” is off of. Like you, I’m still amazed at the chills I get listening to his soulful guitar playing where his "one note” style of playing speaks volumes of emotional and spiritual truth and healing. Thanks for posting your comments I love to read how music touches other lives.

Beautiful story. I have been listening to his music since early 70s in the Philippines. So proud to say that his was the second concert I saw here in the US of A at the Stanford Amphitheater is Palo Alto, Ca in the early 80s. I dance with my wife of 38 yrs. every chance I get. All his music give me the chills. We're very blessed and fortunate to have him around. If you haven't yet try listening to his and Gato Barbieri's (RIP) "EUROPA". Then let me know. God bless.

Spent time in the 70's around El Paso and the border towns in Mexico. No matter where I went I was treated with respect and courtesy. In small villages, some without electricity, I was offered hospitality like you couldn't believe. People with almost nothing offered me some of there nothing and I knew none of them. Ah, nothing like spicy food in 100 degree heat, no AC of course, washed down by warm month old beer. Every bite was delicious, every beer refreshing. I am not religious, but the Bible says that those who gave of their need are blessed. Times have changed, but not the people. The Mexican folks I meet these days have the same attitudes. Times are more difficult in Mexico now, but they will survive. They always have. Oh yeah, it is Cinco De Mayo day today. Salute. Have a Bohemia, the best Mexican beer.
