They're white. They didnt grow up on carbs like rice, and its white rice, which are empty carbs. They weren't built to metabolize that, meat is different. I mean it a popular diet to go low carb his fat and protein. This fit perfectly into those diets and I think work with the keto and paleo diet.

Nayzau It does sound mean but when you know the reason why, it's understandable. The whole thing able bbq like this is it's suppose to a group thing/social activity, meant to do with two or more people. That's why the tables are usually so big, and the portion sizes match that. To restaurants, it is not reasonable to give a table on one person,, when they could just as easily get a party of 3 or more. EYK actually talked about it when they did their TL;DR on being alone in Korean as a new foreign student with Leigh.

Jimmy Fauatea That's awesome! You should definitely travel to other countries, not just Korea. Traveling to new places, living in different areas, really makes you reconsider all of the things you take for granted, and also gets you to appreciate things that were just normal to you before :D

We actually speak Korean all the time when we leave our apartment, we never speak English to anyone except each other. We just can't have "deep" conversations in Korean because we didn't go to school to learn the vocal for that.

Unlike beef, pork isn't that expensive in Korea from what I've heard. This is why samgyupsal seems to be the most popular bbq dish that Koreans eat. Meals with beef are really expensive. Sometimes, it can cost $80-100 for two people.

OMG! Samgyeopsal is sooo GOOD!!! I made a Korean night at home and had it with soju. I even made the green onion salad. No kimchi thou :( We got pretty plastered because we were mixing soju bombs. And why did you damage a perfectly good shot of soju with cola??? Wae?? On other news, love your nails Martina! ♥

In Canada, its about ten dollars a person~ My family and two friends (six people) got rice, bibimbap, samgyeopsal, jigae, and two other things for $75 cx

+Caramelised Kimchi It's kinda hard to explain, because it's on a sidestreet in Bucheon, between city hall and the Lotte Department store, on the street that's parallel to the main street, on the city hall side, rather than the other side of the main street. Does that help, kinda?

Local Korean restaurants have started popping up in my town since certain industries and businesses added locations abroad. One of the newer places had this, and I noticed all the Korean locals flocking to it. Ours was of the frozen variety, but still freakin' delicious! We went back within two weeks. I love cooking/assembling at my table too, makes for a good casual date with the hubby.

I just realized while watching this that I have this all the time at a korean barbecue place! I didn't know it was samgyeopsal though because its just labeled pork belly at the place. So yummy! And man that sucks you guys cant have rice I am on a diet too but I cant give it up I have no will power when it comes to rice! good luck on your diets :)

Brings back memories...I remember stumbling tipsily into one such samgyeopsal place (not that I knew it was samgyeopsal, but now I know :D) at 3am on my final night with my Korean friends. That place saved my life, probably.

I live in a very Korean area in Maryland, so there are a lot of places here that have Samgyeopsal. It's SO good. Why do I watch these when I'm hungry T~T
