Part 8: • Sammy the Bull Went on...
Part 6: • Sammy the Bull Helped ...
Part 1: • Sammy the Bull on Grow...
--------
In this clip, Sammy the Bull opened up about how a feud with a Colombo family associate led to him joining the Gambino family. Sammy explained that someone in the Colombo family became jealous of him, which led to him trying to get Sammy targeted by other members of the family. Sammy went on to speak about going to the man's house with the intent of carrying out a hit, which ultimately led to him leaving the Colombos for the Gambinos.

I became fascinated with the mafia as a very young child growing up on the mean streets of Flatbush, Brooklyn, back in the early 1970s. Listening to Sammy talking shows me exactly why! He is the real deal. All street. A Sicilian-American dude with all the bravado, and made Brooklyn tough! This is a part of Brooklyn culture as much as Coney Island and fuckin hot dogs. This cat is an excellent storyteller. And we're lucky to still have him around to tell us what a true mafioso is. I wouldn't want to be involved with this life in any way, but it makes for very interesting reading. There's a lot that we can learn from these street hoods!

@Tiffany Blue17 Yo! It's funny that you should mention that. I'm currently watching an episode of BOARDWALK EMPIRE and I was also thinking about that TV show The Gangster Chronicles. Of course, I remember it! It was awesome. I used to watch it with my family weekly around 8:00 PM on NBC, around 1981 I believe. This show introduced me to the entire early history of organized crime in New York City. I became an avid reader and student of the subject afterward. It was the first time that I heard the names of the architects of the mafia and the syndicate. Gangsters such as Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Benny Siegal, Arnold Rothstein, Joe Masseria, Vito Genovese, Salvatore Maranzano, Dutch Schultz, Joe Adonis, Legs Diamond, Vincent Coll, Albert Anastasia, Lepke Buchalter, Gurrah Shapiro, and Murder Incorporated. Other than The Godfather, this show was the most important influence on my being a student on the subject.

As a back water guy I have come to appreciate hearing the stories of both Salvatore Grávanos and Michael Franzese. I hang onto every word they speak. In each sentence I hear a “gem” of wisdom.
@ActionJackson669
@ActionJackson669 2 жыл бұрын
"Real tough guy, got out of prison. Really, a great guy. He robbed this one guy..." Lmao, the way this sentence is put together is pretty hilarious 🤣😭🤣 Those things generally don't go together, but I'll take your word for it. This statement proves either one of two things. Either A, Mafia dudes are just like anyone else, and have regular lives and do good guy shit all the time. They may be a Mafia member/hitman, but they do regular everyday shit to take care of friends and family, and outside of their business life, they can be respectful, caring, solid individuals that aren't necessarily bad people at heart, just born into a bad situation. Or B, it means that you never really know somebody, and even somebody who appears to be a family man who does everything right, can turn out to be a monster, a criminal who takes the lives of other people, but is able to keep it on the down-low, so they can keep their good guy front on for as long as possible. I believe that both sides have truth to it, the one lesson that you can take from this no matter HOW you look at it is that folks aren't always what they say they are. Whether it's negative or positive, it ain't as hard as you might think it is to live 2 different lifestyles at once, and it happens more often than you may think if you aren't involved in anything like that. The world isn't as squeaky clean as some think that it is 🤷🏻‍♂️💯 So you always gotta be careful, watch your surroundings, and don't get caught lacking by somebody that you assume is a good guy. With that being said, character goes MUCH DEEPER than the surface level. Not every criminal is a bad person at heart, and not everybody with a clean record is a saint who commits no crimes... Context is EVERYTHING‼️💯 Life isn't just black and white, in fact, life tends to stay in that gray area for most of the time‼️💯 Life is all about the Gray area, and what you do and how you react when you get there. So despite what you may have been told in the past, first impressions don't mean a whole lot in general 🤷🏻‍♂️ In fact, I'm willing to argue that first impressions really don't mean anything when it comes to a person's character, it only defines your impression of them to YOU‼️💯 And in reality, most first impressions can't tell you anything about them as a person. But I say that to say that "good" and "bad" are very loose defining terms that people LOVE to throw around without having all the information yet, often times these accusations are thrown around with little to NO evidence to support their claims, because one interaction, or even just a handful of personal interactions can't define someone's character. Someone like Sammy the Bull was a Mafia hitman, but the way he speaks he comes across as a polite, well educated man, who articulates himself and his thoughts very well. You probably wouldn't guess that he was a Mafia hitman/murderer based off the conversation you have with him, unless he specifically told you about his mafia experience. People are so quick to judge, especially the ones with plenty of skeletons in THEIR OWN closet, just to shift blame and guilt off of themselves smh. The biggest rats/snitches generally aren't civilians, or people who had no involvement in the criminal activities/crimes 💯 Do better out here, folks 💯 GOTTA do better, fam‼️💯🤷🏻‍♂️
