I also had a perfect launch with this game on p5. I was so surprised seeing everyone say how buggy and laggy it was😭

I think the one problem I have with survivor was no central villain, I remember the trailers hyping the utopian guy and he's just in the first mission and it goes from dagen, alittle of vader in the middle then bode, trilla in fallen order was an ever present antagonist in the game from her introduction in the first misson other then that survivor is good.

Honestly Cal Kestis is probably the best jedi character we've gotten from recent years. Unlike Rey or even Ahsoka, Cal actually tries to resolve problems without insulting or antagonizing his opponents, just like how a jedi should. He's pretty much the closest thing we got to legends Luke Skywalker, except with that extra dark side ambiguity.

SO happy to see someone mention the cinematography of the cutscenes. That stuff isn't talked about enough with video games.

I really hope that Jedi 3 is gonna be more smooth for all platforms, it’s a shame how Jedi survivor was at launch…. Still an excellent game in my opinion, I should replay it again

I’m replaying through Jedi: Fallen Order, and I’ve forgotten how EPIC that game was! I CANNOT wait to replay through Jedi: Survivor. I think I love Survivor a bit more.

I wholeheartedly agree the Jedi Survivor is a fantastic game Falling Order was great but survivor was even better in my opinion The customization, making the saloon your own, The bounty Hunter side quest, The additional stances, and the High Republic inclusion are all hallmark elements that make Survivor even better than Falling Order, and that's a high bar

Well-thought out video and review. The game will always be S-tier for me based on the fun I had with Cal’s blaster stance - merging Form II Makashi dueling with a blaster on the offhand was so damn cool and it fit so well with Cal’s history and character, solidifying Cal as a character that genuinely grew on me.

This game has the best Depth of Field implemented in any game. Especially in the cut-scenes.

I also had a great launch with this game. I did use quality mode though which kept the framerate stable but it was still great. I loved that they fixed pretty much all the gripes I had with Fallen Order. Cal has to be one of my favorite Jedi too, such a great character. Honestly I am not a fan of current Star Wars under Disney but Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor remain bright spots for me in Star Wars.

Great video! Fully agree and I had a PC launch that had stuttering on Coruscant then when I got to Koboh was perfectly fine, so that didn't bother me, like 2 to 3 hours of suboptimal gameplay, that was then great. I can't wait for Jedi 3, it's going to be (hopefully) absolutely incredible!

I read somewhere that the devs have recently started working on the game again as of just over 2 weeks ago. They were speculating that it may end up just being a content update to include the battle grid like in Fallen Order, but at least there might be some chance at some further performance improvements.

I waited until March this year to get it (on Steam), and apart from a bit of occasional stuttering when moving between areas on Koboh, I have not seen any performance issues, or major bugs. It was a near perfect experience and after 5 playthroughs, it's become one of my all time favourite games. I do kind of wish starting an NG+ playthrough would also reset sidequests. There's not much to do apart from the story when you 100% your first time through.

I got the game near the tail end of December, when I purchased a PS5. It was my first game for it. I’ve only had one issue during my first playthrough. A big one though. I got stuck in Bode’s apartment (right before you get the dark side abilities) and couldn’t progress the story. That really sucked. Apart from that though, really fun combat and good exploration. I’m surprised at much many big and little things there are to explore. As for the combat, I really, really enjoy that. So much variety with the stances and all, which are all viable (my ranking is: 5: Single. 4: Dual. 3: Crossguard. 2: Double. 1: Blaster.) There were nice, new force powers. And good enemy variety. The bosses were challenging for me on Jedi master difficulty. I got all of them first try but mostly without any stims left. The side bosses of the Rancor and Spawn of Oggdo were tougher. Especially the Rancors, as I got a cheap strategy for Oggdo. The customisation was also a massive step up. Customising Cal has gone from being stale to being fun (I dynamically changed his hair and beard through the course of the story, whilst also making him don different clothing on different planets). But the workbench customisation is great. Customising the lightsaber was great in FO, but in Survivor, it became way better. The biggest (relatively small) feature they added was the fast travel. If that wasn’t there, I would have zero motivation to explore the planets outside of the story. The story was really good overall. I don’t know if I prefer it over the first one though. This one felt like it had some moments where the pace was a little too slow for my liking. But the payoff was amazing. I like most of the characters, though I think Dagan is a bit too one dimensional. Bode may have eventually become the prevalent villain with the biggest impact, but Dagan is still the big bad for like 70% of the story. And I feel like he’s quite undercooked. Bode was great though. You can understand his viewpoint, though you don’t agree with his methods and hate him for his betrayal. Cal and Merrin is probably my favourite Star Wars romance. They have good chemistry, but more importantly, they are just so understanding and communicative. They can ask the other for help, advice and assurance and they’d know it will be provided.

Cool...I haven't played this since Nov of 23..forgot I had it. I'll grab the update and see how its running; just have to remember how to play it now.

I was thinking where the story could go in the next game, and assuming Cal and Merrin still plan to use tanalorr for the hidden path, there are so many good opportunities. Lots of missions where cal gets distress calls and needs to escort force sensitives through dangerous planets to get them to tanalorr, all while running his own Jedi temple back at the HUB. I imagine there will be a time skip, and Cal will be a full-on Jedi master, and there could even be segments where you play as his apprentice Kata. And, if there were ever going to be a chance for an Obi Wan cameo, it would be in the third game.

I played this on Series S, and only had one minor bug during my second play through where the audio was out of sync.

I'm currently updating Survivor on PC and curious to know how it runs on Koboh specifically? I've had to take a long break because the galactic map in the ship drops down to 1 fps lot of the time and the travel aspect seems to lag as well making that segment quiet and akward lol. Also the rendering issues when landing on Koboh or Jedha are problematic and immersive breaking and I would love to to jump back in because it is one of the best SW experience I've had but the performance issues pushes me away from enjoying this breathtaking story every single time.

Playing this on the Series X (its now on gamepass) really enjoying it. Map is still a bit shit but overall a decent game. Seems the performance side of things have been sorted because the majority of the time (so far, I haven't finished it) is a locked 60fps in performance mode.

I just finished it last night in VR with UEVR mod and It was awesomeeee. Same as fallen order but better, both even better in VR. Who's lucky to be able to experience it that way I really recommend 👍🤗😌

one year later can someone answer me if there is already preset spawns in Jedi Survivor 2? I hate how you'd die in 1 and when coming back the enemies were in the exact same spot ALL THE TIME.

I absolutely loved this game. The story was better in Fallen Order but the gameplay in this one was significantly better. The world's were more open, bigger, more things in it were interesting. I played through the story 3 times in a row, that's how much I enjoyed it.

They improved this game so much even in the last 6 months. I've been playing recently and it's close to perfect on Grandmaster difficulty.

Pretty smooth play for me, no real bugs I remembered. Got ticked plenty of times with what I always felt were some cheap unblockable attacks… but mostly from the endgame boss (no spoilers). Seriously, what a piece of crud those fights were, which is a shame because I appreciated the narrative. One thing I also liked was the subtle animations, especially when switching between stances. My only gripe was that every “change” between stances made sense in-game, except for the cross-guard, which when switched to, cheated behind the switching animation and magically changed the appearance of the lightsaber components. In other words, the design of the cross-guard hilt was fundamentally different from the other hilts that it never flowed as well when swapping. He’d pop out the cross-guard and “ta-da” now it looks totally different, whereas every other combo you could see all the components on your custom hilt staying congruent back and forth. So in that sense, the cross-guard just never felt as canonical as the others, even the gun stance. Very minor gripe, but one I still noticed 😅 Excited for the third entry though!

i really enjoyed survivor and it is the reason tht i now like the high republic era and for jedi 3 they should bring back all the planets from fallen order and survivor and more in the the third game

maybe instead of a blaster stance they should've done force stance where you can use force powers combo's mixed into saber attacks like you hit one with a saber attack and force push another one etc how Jedi actually fight

Honestly love the game. But so salty we didn't get any content after the game other than NG+. I've played it twice and not touched it since. An arena game mode would have gone a long way. Put off touching it as i don't want to play through the entire campaign just to face one boss or get some action.

I'm playing it right now. Bought it on Steam sale. I am enjoying it so far and no technical issues at the moment as of April 2024. Using a laptop with rtx 3080, 1440p epic graphics at more than 60fps. Ray tracing is off. If I use ray tracing i only get 40fps and it is not worth it.

I really enjoyed Survivor, but struggled with how the main plot line came out. Most of the game is spent looking for Tanalorr, which Cal only finds out about because he was trying to fix the gyro on the Mantis. It’s a coincidence that he came across Zee, and as invested as I am in Cal, I had a hard time not looking past that element of the story.

Fortunately the game worked fine on my 4070 gaming laptop. I am quite happy with this game. Just started another play through the other day.

The game is a masterpiece. I got to platinum it and it made the game better. So much cool little secrets and hidden mini bosses.

Just finished last night . The last like 20 percent had me not wanting to turn it off

I've put about 70 hours into the game over the last month on an upper midrange PC @1440p. Specs: 7600x, 32gb ddr5 6000mhz, 7800 XT, on a gen 4 m.2 ssd. Ultra settings, MSAA overiding the TAA . RT is turned on w/ no upscaling enabled,. Average 55 fps, 35fps 1% lows. It easily runs @ 60-55fps most of the time. Stuttering is semi frequent, but easily ignored imo. I could do 1440p 60fps locked with RT off or by using FSR, but I don't like upscaling and RT looks really good in the game. Otherwise, it's very stable and I'm having a blast.

Aside from potential dlc, the only things I would like this game to have are to toggle the vents of the hilts and finish fixing the screen tearing. The first game has no screen tearing, so there's no reason why survivor should.

I bought the game day 1 on PC and only had issues on koracant and it was only for the first couple days then after the first patch it was perfect

I originally had an issue where the game didn’t launch but after that game ran wonderfully but all the technical issues are my only problem with the game

I started playing a week ago. 4080 and 5800x3d. Performance was pretty good til open world. Def mad stutters around main town. Outside of that area performance is decent. Turning off HDR helped for some reason…but ya if the game just ran smooth even on high with no RT would be 9/10.

I had a great Launch for this game.. Don't get me wrong, It plays so much better now and there were a Few little kinks with some of the areas of Koboh, Since it was the biggest planet. I Waited for my Preorder down to the last second.. Knew coming home from work @ 11pm the night before that it was almost time to play it and I did without any sleep for a day or so.. Been a while since I was that excited for a game to drop, what a time! Fallen Order was special but It wasn't this level of Excitement building up to that release, was more 'Oh is that Ian from Shameless as a Jedi? Iunno about this story' haha. I felt the same way about Cal leading into Fallen Order. He is a Badass Jedi now and a top character for me. Survivor did something to his story and Opening up w/ the Inquisitor fight on Coruscant was proof shit was about to go down. Back to Survivor's Release and my Build. Was very prepared with my Hardware for this release though.. I built a new PC maybe a month before it dropped.. I knew it was next gen and I didn't want my old build to Hinder my experience. Updated from a Biostar Mobo to a Msi b550 board, A Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 7 5800x, Nvidia 3050 to 3070 and then To a 6750xt because the Value/power ratio is insane and AMD is slept on man. New H5 Elite case w/ 2 NZXT 140s Intaking up front, GPU 120 Fan @ The bottom and 3 Deepcool matte black 120s for my Exhaust, Both attached to the Nzxt Kracken AIO and rear of the case! Also faster Ram. From Gskill 3200, 16gb to Corsair Dominator 3600's, 32gb. Power Supply was already a Fully Mod 850w, 80 plus gold Be quiet PSU, So I was future prooof'd af! lol. Was the best Idea to prepare because I love this game and the experience when it dropped.

i had to suffer thru this shit on 40 fps in the good spots and 12 in the bad. there was only one place in the entire game where i got above 100 fps

I’ve come to really appreciate this game as time’s gone on, especially the combat and exploration. The crossguard stance was fucking awesome to use, and really reminded me of the heavy stance back in the elite Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy games. The planets all feel very alien and unique, and the music helps a lot with that too. The story is where it gets a bit mixed for me. On the one hand it was awesome to see Cal take on what I consider to be a more realistic view of the force by not sacrificing his love for Merrin and occasionally tapping into the dark side to survive. On the other hand I think Bode’s betrayal is really stupid and his motivation is totally illogical. The idea that his daughter would only be safe on Tanalorr if Cal didn’t use it as a base for the rebels just doesn’t make sense. Even if the empire somehow found a way to cross through the abyss they still have an entire planet to hide on. The dude also left his daughter alone in an imperial base so I’m kind of confused as to how that’s safer than hiding her on an almost empty planet lol.

Look I'm just gonna come right out and say it. I grew up with the gamecube/xbox/ps2 star wars games including og battlefront 2, and I tend to really dislike most post-disney star wars content. So I was extremely surprised to see this game claim the title of my favorite star wars game. Doubly so because I thought fallen order was pretty decent, but not the greatest. This game just does everything right in my opinion. It improves upon its predecessor in every possible way (besides the removal of ship customization for some reason, but the added cal and bd-1 customization more than make up for it imo). And the story, not just for a video game, but for modern star wars content as a whole is my favorite star wars story since clone wars (I know season 7 was technically released as disney star wars, but they had storyboarded most if not all of it before disney canceled them so it doesn't count). Leaving behind the empire and galactic civil war in order to explore something fresh and new was honestly amazing to see.

I wanted to get back into the game but I crash every 30 minutes on my new pc. If only the game was stable to play 😭

Doesn't work for me. Keeps runing out of vram. Tried all the solutions, and soon as the robot drags Kal off the elevator it crashes.

My launch on Xbox series X was flawless, I beat the game in just over 24 hours and got 90% of the achievements.

I think It would have been cool if more than one Jedi from the Old Republic era was awoken, and in the end you a Dagan have to fight together against the other Jedi's gone to the dark side. Dagan vs Darth Vader would have been cool. I dont no, I loved it but just feel the story could have been more amazing.

I literally just finished this game on PS5. Had a great time. There are some good and bad about it but nothing deal breaking. I had bad drops but like I said nothing deal breaking. Only gripe parry system sucks, no council, no dismemberment, and a few more. However, this game has potential to do a lot for a Star Wars game

I still have not bought this because they DID NOT include the battle arena mode in meditation training from Fallen Order. I am still bitter about that and I still play Fallen Order just for that alone. With PC you can disable the character limit and Fight armies of any one you want. Unless I am mistaken Its been a year since I looked. If they added that I would buy. Also they still want top dollar for it on Steam. :/

It’s unplayable on pc

The worst part of this game is that it’s a nightmare trying to 100% complete the game both in game with the bounty glitch and the missable trophy

I put nearly 70 hours in and dropped it conpleteley i was on ps5 and had the bounty hunter bug the garden bug and the collectible bugs too it was so annoying not to mention the 20 fps town

It’s got dropped on game pass and I finally tried it. It works soooo badly on Xbox X! Frame drops, glitches, textures uploading, blurry images. So annoying!

Bought the game recently and finished the story last week. Amazing game, the gameplay is a huge upgrade from the first and from purely a gameplay perspective this game is way better than fallen order However, the story is what I feel wasn’t that great about this game compared to the first as well as the villains not being nearly as good as the first game. Fallen order was a 10/10 game for me. Jedi survivor was a 9/10

Just played JFO a great game and Survivor is next. Good to see a game maker listen to fans Nintendo Zelda TOTK had 2000 korok seeds most gamers didn't like them from the first game so let us give you twice as many with useless rewards after 500 great job nintendo I did enjoy the game overall but would never consider it a great game to many poor design choices. Good review. Yeah Dagan was the weakest part of the game. The guy was a bit 1 Dimensional. Also bringing Cordova back felt a bit like gilding the lilly. But otherwise ots a great game. Stig won't be around for the 3rd game so whoever they get as Director I hope can deliver

Even though I have a PC with a 4080 I decided to play it safe and finally got this game on PS5 because I'd heard the PC version was probably never gonna get fixed. Didn't expect the PS5 version to be so buggy. I counted no less than 20 bugs, T-posing characters in cutscenes and bosses getting stuck in the walls. A huge disappointment compared to the first game. I loved the story but it's difficult to take it seriously when it doesn't feel finished. I hope they do better next time.

I played this game just for the story. I had to play it with 12-20 fps, due to my 1050 with is (to be fair) way to old for this game. The bottleneck was my i7 though. The story was cool, the combat was really bad because of bugs with make the game unplayable, maybe because the framerate was to low. I didnt get the dicision why they want to display so many particles at once and i didnt get it why clyou cant disable them, they have no reason at all. The puzzle with the paticles for example run at 3fps on my "machine". Maybe i will play this game properly with my ps5, when its for sale

Playing it on game pass and I am finding the combat clingy.

In my personal opinion reviews today need to change their grading systems and to leave out the word “perfect” in their reviews no matter the meaning. There is no such thing as a “perfect” game so attempting to label a game as such hurts a game more than helps. I’d rather hear “it’s a great game but with some flaws” instead of “far from perfect” which IMO labels any game negatively unless the game deserves that title. Not dissing your video at all, I enjoyed it but hearing that word in the beginning triggered my outburst on the topic of reviews.

I can run Cyberpunk 2077 at ultra settings with minimal issues. Yet Survivor set to Medium settings gets me 53fps with some stuttering. At High i get 30-39fps with a lot os stuttering. Tried everything. It’s still trash as of 6/25/24. Goes to show what happens when you buy EA games.

I love the combat it's amazing my biggest problem is the lackluster story and how it clashes with the movies(sort of) and how the power scaling is weird and how theres no main villain really and my other problem is the open world it is too big and I honestly prefer more linear games mostly bc open world is never done right RD2 is the only game to do it right. Survivors world is bloated with missions no one cares about and boring gameplay of just running to find plants and uninteresting areas all around

Star wars fallen order was about the most confusing and frustrating game I ever ever played, like most players I spent more time looking up things on KZfaq than I did playing the game.
