If its a Godzilla movie, I believe the director should be either David Lowery or the Russo Brothers If we're talking about a Kong movie, I think it should be either Peter Jackson or Matt Reeves

I’d like to see a serious Godzilla film like Godzilla king of the monsters again. I’d like to see Godzilla go up against an unstoppable force but also have the movie serious like Godzilla 2014.

This has me worried because Adam said he had definite vision on the third one with it having a more Godzilla focus but for some reason, I feel the studio will pick someone who will just double down on Kong and use Godzilla even less.

Darn. Very mixed feelings. I really loved Adam’s passion for the characters and his directing style he brought to the MonsterVerse! His contributions to the series will be felt. Thank you, Adam Wingard for these two awesome movies and best of luck on your next project! I’m excited to see the next Director. I kind of hope Michael Doherty comes back and with Bear McCreary. I kind of hope they keep up with what Adam was hoping to do and possibly bring Destroyah like he implied. Still excited for the MonsterVerse.

I hope this still stays as he made it in Godzilla x Kong because yes they were doing some silly moments and bumping it up and that's what made it different so I hope they still keep that or make it better

For the Godzilla focused GxK sequel, it sould be a mix of GxK awesomeness and Showa styled Kaiju fights, along with some KotM seriousnes and emotion. That would be great for me.

In my opinion this is good because so much had to be stated by him outside of the movies for it to be considered canon. Also he would never make his mind up on what was true or not. He said ‘Godzilla was toying with Kong’ then he said ‘I was probably joking’.

I’d love for Gareth Edwards to return. I thought his vision in the first was top tier! Just the way he framed everything made Godzilla look so breathtaking and epic, and I felt while I loved every movie that came after, lacked that scope and vision. Also I know this is reaching as he’s directing the next Jurassic World film.

I think a lot of people are hoping for Gareth Edwards, or Michael Dougherty to return, and create another monsterverse film, honestly, it would be great if Michael did a Godzilla solo movie because I would see him being more likely with Gareth being so busy with Jurassic World‘s next movie, but what would be even better is if they brought back the creator of skull Island for Kong movie and Hollow in my opinion, just two solo movies. Part of me feels like this might be more plausible and Likely than just getting a whole new Director especially with the meet up that happened two weeks ago for that Fandango interview that hosted all four of them. I just think it is all a little bit coincidental that we’ve had the entire founders come back for a discussion about the whole universe together and then this happens. I probably shouldn’t be getting my hopes up to see Michael Doogherty returned to make a Godzilla movie Because it may not happen, but I can’t deny I really want to see him get a second chance when he doesn’t have to compete with avengers endgame.

I like the idea of having two solo films after GxK, as it can split from the two biomes within the Monsterverse. At one hand you would have the Godzilla movie where it would seek to express more of the somber, real and allegorical aspects of Godzilla similar to Godzilla Minus One. However, since it is the Monsterverse, with added flavors similar to All-Star Superman. Meanwhile, on the other hand, there is the Hollow Earth with Kong where the more experimental and crazy shit electric boogaloo would be seen and shown. With this, it would complete both aspects that critics criticize about GxK, whilst providing fans what they asked for and then some.

Adam Wingard has retired from the Monsterverse (for now!), so who would you like to see helm the next Godzilla/Kong film?

I mean, his 2 films have done great for there times... I feel it would be a good idea to wait for his availability, rather than risk a brick at the box office. Then again 2019 is probably still my favorite for the series and it sold the least, though I feel it had a lot more competition when it released.

hear me out. a godzilla centered gxk sequel directed by Guillermo del Toro. he is an amazing director in general and is fantastic at emotions and characters, so having him direct a movie that goes more into Godzilla’s life and his feelings would be really cool, and could also make decent human characters, even with Godzilla having most of the light (by the way he directed Pacific Rim and the sequel that shall not be named, so he has experience with kaiju)

I do find this rather unfortunate, but im also pretty excited. I cant wait to find out who will be directing the GxK sequel next. Either be a director whos already directed one of the konsterverse films or a totally new one. Either way, im pretty hyped. Thank you for 2 of one of the greatest films Adam 🫡

I believe legendary will heed Adam Wingauards' direction of where the story plot is going. More focus on the titans, mainly Godzilla. Whoever is the next director is, they will get advice from Adam. Maybe get a director from toho who knows the lore

I was really hoping Wingard would get to complete a trilogy within the Monsterverse and am sad to see him go. I hope after finishing "Onslaught" he gets to direct the "Thundercats" movie he wants to make, if "The New Empire" proved nothing else, it did confirm the man is perfect to direct a "live-action" cartoon. As for the Monsterverse, this makes me slightly concerned for it's direction in the future. Announcing the return of Michael Dougherty would calm me right down though. I really don't know which Director "new" to the Monsterverse I would nominate but Legendary has hit four homeruns so far, hopefully that means they can hit a fifth one if necessary.

It sucks that Adam can't come back... But I have a list of directors that could take on the movie. Gareth Edwards- Oh wait, nevermind... Michael Dougherty (even though I'm not a big fan of king of the monsters, I like his scale and portrayal of Godzilla. I just hope he make the next movie a lot better if he is chosen.) David Lowery Andy Serkis (he's a talented director) Bryce Dallas Howard (I know, odd choice but she has potential!) J.A. Bayona (Fallen Kingdom looked amazing and he's highly talented) I would Steven Spielberg but I really don't think he's going to do it, it just doesn't seem likely. For me personally, Guillermo del Toro would be awesome, but I also really don't think he's going to do it, especially after what happened to Pacific Rim, Hellboy, etc. as much as I would like him personally, I don't see it happening. I saw that O'Shea Jackson Jr should direct the next movie... But isn't he already working on another MonsterVerse project? I really want to see Simon McQuiod do a Godzilla movie personally, I loved his direction on Mortal Kombat, he brought a serious tone but also balanced the fantastical elements. But I don't see that happening because he's already working on Mortal Kombat 2, and that sucks, because I love his directing style. He also worked with Dave Callaham before! Maybe Dustin Daniel Cretin? (I'm sorry if I misspelled it), I love him as a director and he worked with Dave Callahan before, but I also don't think he's going to do it because I believe he's already working on several marvel projects at once. Let's give David Leitch that director role, huh? Since he was fired from the new Jurassic world movie. I'm spitballing so many directors heh, I like Callahan as a writer enough.
