I made an account years ago and recently signed into it, just to try to deactivate it. It's not locked (at least I don't think it's locked because I was able to still post a link trying to win something) but there's definitely NOT able to be deactivated, because I tried. It's kinda the point -- Musk was sent the article before his lawsuit that forced him to buy Twitter, and since he was forced, he had an outline for what to do.

He's not a genius, but that doesn't mean this dude is a complete idiot. I know the internet can't find the nuance on that one, but it's the truth. He doesn't have to follow a white supremacist outline to think to himself "fine if I'm forced to buy this company I'll just destroy it slowly, I hate it anyways."

This fail just means some Wallstreet financial firms end up with Tesla stock as payback for the loans. And yeah wouldn't you take that bet ? Wallstreet was in it for other reasons. And if it turns around (not that I think it will) you go public and offer those firms stock as payback then.

Even top Software engineers at Netflix are saying Twitter is running better for them. If every decision he makes is to tank the platform how can it be better, and what happened to yall saying Twitter would shut down after he fired 80% of staff, it's running even better and people get paid for tweets now? @@Two-ToneMoonStone Yeah, he mucked up the "plan" badly. He made an overvalued offer and couldn't back away. He could have just let it continue to run much as it had. But I think ego got in the way. He got in and saw the money being spent/lost and the ego told him he could fix it (oops maybe not) . If he had left it public, he might have been able to sell half or more of what was remaining (maybe to Facebook, what's their tweet app doing these days ?). End result ? Wallstreet ends up with a ton more Tesla stock.

@@Two-ToneMoonStone - why do I care if he loses money? If he destroys it, a competitor would emerge and we would be back where we started. Celebrities and politicians continue to use it for some reason. The bigger issue is whether it is a platform or a publisher. I think forums should be platforms (such as you-tube) and not responsible for content.

I really don't think Elon would ruin his reputation as a businessman on purpose. He's just stupid as f*ck, and as the only owner/CEO of twitter it's the first time we can see him do whatever he wants without responsible people around channelling his whims. For catastrophic results.

Yet like any social media platform, it can foment and ferment whatever the majority of its membership identifies as. When any site becomes largely identified by one particular group, their beliefs and behavior are encouraged in a loop.

It is and it isn't. Spreading misinformation is detrimental to everyone. And it was and is a way that other more fascist ran country citizens could get the word out for help.
