How, how on earth can he sing this song like this, this perfectly pitched, without crying?? Can't imagine.

Put your headphones on, close your eyes, and I guarantee you will feel goosebumps, and maybe even cry a little! This guy's voice is god's gift to soul music! I can relate to his lyrics, maybe that's why it really hits me hard, and gets me a little emotional. And I don't care what any one says, I'm comfortable enough to admit my emotional and sensitive side as a man.

Love this song it makes me cry as I lost my son aged 19 and I miss him so much I miss you son so so much ❤️ Sittin in the darkness running through my mind looking at the memories of my long lost child hoping to revive him n bring him home to me but then I realise that that just won't be I'm living in this torture running through my mind searching for the reason of which I cannot find Why he had to leave me and leave this empty space gone and lost forever and never to be replaced

Why are people surprised that they connect to this song when its written by a gay dude for another gay dude. Like, maybe love is universal??? Maybe a man can love a man the same way we say a man can only love a woman?

I don't really know if I can explain what your singing does to me, Sam. This opens me up more than any therapist or even my best friend could. I love the mood shift within this song. From the almost "musical" style of the beginning, to the swing of a Sinatra-esque... To the big bold bridge... I LOVE IT! Plus this song truly shows his range... Most of his songs are mid range/falsetto... But I like his lower register too. This song is brilliant.

His voice gives me an eargasm

My grandmother passed away last Friday and it's my most painful heartbreak. I grew up with her. She took care of me, raised me, saw me at my best and worst. I have always slept by her side. Now I can't lay by her side anymore.

This song hits home for me on many different levels. My 3 and a half year old son is dying from a rare form of Brain tumor, Diffuse Insintric Pontine Glioma or DIPG for short. He doesn't have much time left and this song speaks to me in my time of need. Music I believe will be my savior in this time of need and God has giving me many signs of strength but by far this is the biggest yet. Thank you Sam Smith for sharing a song with so much meaning. Artists are tending to make music that sells not made as art and you sir are an artist with an amazing gift. This song means the world to me and I'm going to play it at his funeral if possible.

There are people that can hold notes, people that have pleasant voices and in general, sound good; but occasionally there are people that make you rise up from your bed,sit up in your chair, or even pull your car over, turn up the radio and say "Who is that?" Then suddenly the DJ says "that was that new artist Sam Smith" and in a moment of delight and confusion you say to yourself "Who the fk is Sam Smith"? I love him. he can hit all of those falsettos notes with ease and still do it live. A ton of artists have to fake it when doing it live compared to the recorded version, but he can always do it and he put so much emotion behind the words every time. He is truly inspirational.

I'm into underground house/techno. have been for years. bands aswell bit not really into singers. heard latch and was hooked on sam smiths voice. unreal vocal ability, just think there hasn't been a singer in my generation as accomplished hence never been to interested in singers before now. one in a trillion talent this lad.the control he has over his voice is phenomenal.

What most people dont know is the story behind this song. This song was wrote in memory of Sam's (either his ex or husband) who passed away. That adds even more emotion to this song. This song gets to me. I showed one of my ex's this song way back when I first heard it. Well long story short, we didnt work out mainly because I wasnt ready to settle down really, and she passed away shortly afterwards. I miss her alot. I also know that when I'm blaring this in my truck or my house and just absolutely going all out singing it, I know she knows I'm singing it to her. I love you Alisha.

This forever breaks my heart because I know she's old now and it's just a matter of time before she passes away.
