Honestly one of the BEST mics for KZfaq. A lot of mics pick up background noise, keyboard typing, mouse clicks, etc. But, the Q2U barely gets ANY background noise at all. I'd rate the sound quality of this mic a 9/10

@ScottPigeon2 жыл бұрын
@@hakumoru I've been wondering the same. I tried lowering "input volume" in the OS sound settings, and that seems to help, but then my voice is too quiet. So then I "normalize" to bring it back, and all the noise comes back too. It sounds like I'm sitting next to a waterfall.

I just set up a Samson Q2U on a windows 10 Dell XPS 13. I found default settings were muddy and had too much base in Audacity. You have to select the Microsoft Sound mapper rather than the mic or other speakers, then it sounds ok. I am not an expert in audio or audacity, am I missing something?

I just got this mic and set it up on my own and I was looking for videos to help me block breathing sounds since it is picking them up and I found this video and wow, the video made by Samsung itself has horrible sounding audio, what is with the background hissing noise? You guys couldn't be bothered to run a noise filter on that and remove that hiss? I sure hope I won't be as disappointed in this mic as I am in this video.

Hi, I bought the Samson Q2U mic but the holder does not fit on the stand. The fitting screws into a boom stand. But the supplied stand is too thick to go into the mic holder. There is a silver piece screwed into the bottom of the mic holder with two slots. It seems that this piece can come out and then the holder would be able to fit in, but try as I might I cannot screw the part out. Yes, I tried anti-clockwise at first and then clockwise just to ensure it is not counter thread.

I really enjoy the moc. I record with audacity and have 1 question. When I record I have my headphone plugged into the mic. When I want to listen to the playback I have to unplug the headphone out of the mic and plug into the computer. Is there anyway to listen to the playback while keeping the headphone plugged into the mic. Windows 10 BTW. thanks

You have to go to settings in your pc>devices>audio devices and then choose output from there you have to choose where you want your sound to come out from, could be monitor, speaker, etc.

nice, Samson show how it work on Mac. But on Windows we got serious issue. Samson do not provide driver for Windows 10 in USB connection (You can use XLR to bypass this issue). Instead 2QUis working on default Microsoft Driver which is broken, meaning you are going to get very low volume and will need to crank in in the windows setting.

I just unboxed my Samson Q2U and I am not getting this sort of audio input. I have an iMac I am using OBS and audacity on. I have to position the mic nearly inches from my mouth just to the quality of input I desire. So many podcasters gave this a rave review. This mic may need a sound board in between to get quality sound. I am sure not getting the sound like in this video. Just for kicks I used the mic on my Windows 10 setup. Same results with OBS and Audacity.
@EddieNiga3 жыл бұрын
Finally, I thought I was the only one with this issue. Recording volume was too low so I had to set my input level at 100. Is there still no solution to this? I got a mac so I can record from there but I'd like to record directly from my PC through a usb port.

It seems the headphone jack only works when the microphone is hooked up via USB and does not work when you are plugged in via XLR. Anyone know of a comparable microphone that may allow this?
@danmagoo4 жыл бұрын
The only other mics I have that offer both XLR and USB connection, are the ATR2100 and the AT2005 -- and both have that same limitation, that the headphone jack only works with USB. I don't know if there's a technical reason for that. Maybe it's just assumed that if you are using an XLR set-up, you can monitor your sound using a headphone jack on the USB interface.
@kencadby65864 жыл бұрын
The manual says "The headphone output provides a mix of the direct signal from the microphone and the audio playback from the computer." But like any device with headphone output, it would require power, so it should need USB power for headphones, even when connected via XLR. (I don't have this mic yet, so can't confirm 100%. Maybe a USB battery pack would be all that's needed, like when on the road with a recording device?) Btw, I'm wondering if when connected to computer via USB, it might be necessary to turn off the computer's audio output to the mic, unless it's really low latency and/or you actually want to hear the computer audio out mixed into the direct monitoring? (The manual says "4. In the Playback tab, select the Level tab and set the computer’s Master Volume to 100%. Use the Q2U’s Output Level buttons to control the overall output from the headphones or speaker. 5. To adjust the direct monitoring level in the Playback tab by moving the fader labeled Microphone.) I saw another typo in another paragraph that can confuse people, so the manual's not without errors.
