Samson's Studio Headphones are in my opinion a real steal! The SR850's are a real pleasure to use offering a real 'professional' sound quality which is much beyond their price and the SR950's provide an inexpensive solution for isolated tracking or as a single pair of headphones to take care of all tracking and mixing duties in the home studio.

Hey bud, yeah for recording you'll want to go for the 950's to minimise any spill and isolate your sound. The 850's as you say will leak sound. Hope that helps.

Hey mate, just a quick question - do you think any of these would be good for plugging into guitar amp? These are very similar to Superlux headphone HD668B and HD669, but Superlux headphones are harder to drive, as they are 56 Ohms.

@@realhomestudioofficial Thanks for quick reply. Just received SR850 and they work great with my Mustang LT25. Build quality seems to be way better than Superlux, also easier to drive. These need some burn in and then will see how sound will settle. When it comes to sound, especially with SR950, which are HD669 clones... these are tuned in v shape signature, so yeah, they're slightly lacking in mids, but still, it's very "mature" v shape, not typical, bloated consumer type "fun" v shape.

Hi Hugo, cheers bud. Not much difference between the two other than the open backs feel, well, more open. Much more like the sound is in the room whereas the bass on the closed backs is more contained and a bit more uncomfortable certainly at higher levels. Hope that helps!

Hey there! I wanted to ask something, still rly new on the subject! 😅😅 In your experience with mixing and master with the 850, was there enough of that right stereo/instrument separation amount that people look for? Anything I gotta watch out for like the bass or treble stuff-?
@realhomestudioofficial
@realhomestudioofficial 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Maria. If you've got a budget of around £50 then these are right up there. Most of my mixing is done on my monitors and I move back and fourth with headphones to reference so I'm not big into solely mixing on headphones. With regards to instrument separation I find once you get used to a set of headphones you learn how they colour the sound and work with them and the 850s are a good starting place. A more expensive set may well give you more of what you're looking for but as I say, on a budget these are great. Hope that helps.

@@andrebeats6413 😂 It's best to keep humble expectations for cheap products. Prior to this, I already planned to use these as general-purpose to complement my studio monitor set, so it's all good. 😗 Had a good experience buying it too; I had to return my first, brand new pair to the store (kinda hate doing that, but I had to. Left speaker had this ear-rape like static on the midtones... noticed it while playing FL Piano LOL.) They gave me another pair that didn't have the issue. The wiring might be rly fragile on the inside, but unless I opened it that time, we'll never know. 🤪

Would you recommend the 950s for someone with a big head? I have a hard time finding over-ears at a budget price that don't give me a headache from the clamping force, and I'm not super fond of earbuds as a long term solution.
