Samsung Flexwash Upper Washer Normal Cycle (and Water Leak!!)

As requested, I tried to film a complete Normal Cycle on the Upper Washer of a Samsung Flexwash washing machine. I've had history with this machine leaking water on the floor whenever I wash clothes in it. It didn't do this for the first 2 and a half years or so of owning the machine, but only within the last couple years has it started doing this. The leaking will be a symptom of the 1LC1 and LC1 error codes. This is apparently a very common issue with the Samsung Flexwash and there seems to be quite a debate over what exactly causes it. Quite honestly, I think the cause of this issue varies from unit to unit, but on mine it clearly has to do with the upper washer fabric softener dispenser. The thing literally overflows into the cabinet of the machine!! Absolutely terrible design! I'll have a video explaining that more, too. But yeah, at least I caught a wash and a spin, but this will probably be the last time I record the upper washer running, because this is just a pain in the behind to clean up, and is just not something I want to have to deal with. I'm sorry if you were looking forward to more upper washer videos but I hope you understand.
You know it makes total sense why no one has caught this machine on video before, it has such bad reviews and breaks down so easily. I'm lucky I caught it before it started freaking out and going into a mass drain and beep mode where everything is locked down and uncontrollable (a scaring experience for washing machine owners). It's scary when your machine has a mind of it's own!

And I'm sorry I wasn't able to catch the full cycle, a little problem popped up just as the final rinse started that prevented me from finishing the cycle 😅 I do have a video of the self clean on the Upper Washer and that video shows the machine completing the cycle all the way through if that interests you as well.

no, it breaks really easily. it’s drain pipe was poorly designed, and sometimes just decides not to drain, causing the entire washer not to work unless you emergency drain it and leave it draining for a while

Turn down the cold water faucet the upper washer fabric softener drains slow so if the water coming into the fabric softener dispenser is to high it doesn’t have enough time to drain and will over fill and leak on the sensor and you will get an error code or see water in the bottom left of the washer , Also I tell customers not to use liquid softener use the downy unstoppable’s cause you can’t take out the the dispenser like on other washers to clean . Hope this helps you guys who have the flex Samsung washers

You know I just thought about this and I’m interested to hear you thoughts about it. If the water pressure is the issue, then how come whenever I run the machine without any clothes in the drum, it never leaks? Ever since the machine started leaking we’ve ran numerous test cycles with and without clothing and it never leaked when we ran it empty. Would the water pressure still be the issue at that point?

I just bought the WV60A9900AV (not the WV60M) I am going to see how the top washer works. Most of the problem I have read is the WV60M model. Wish me luck.

Wishing you luck on not only the upper washer working but also on controlling it! I’m sure it’ll be a unique experience trying to control both washers with one panel and one knob 😂😅 Please let me know how it works, I’m curious to find out!

Everyone knows to flee from any Samsung washer. I was one of the ignoramuses who bought this Flex washer. I had the leaks issue in the first 4 months. I can’t remember how many times thd washer was serviced in my brief time with it. multiple parts and even the whole “board were replaced” The manager at Sears, where we bought it eventually had to put in a request to Samsung for our money back. A full year and a half has gone by with no issues with my LG washerm. The Samsung washer has a Great concept....terrible application and product!!

Wow, that’s a very funny coincidence 😂 Best of luck with your machine, and just be very careful using the upper washer. Stay away from softener in the upper washer.

I read many complains about leak coming from upper washer. Probably they Samsung engineering didn`t well dimensioned softener dispenser for Hight pressure water inlets.

That could be a contributing factor, but I think I found the root cause of this whole dilemma (or at least A root cause). I’ll have a video coming out about that shortly.

Yup. Just horrible design. If it interests you, I have a video up about finding the root cause of the water leak issue. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a fix to it though.

@@FansOfGames Had mine since 2018ish. it just broke again, causing the entire washer(bottom and top) not to work. I drained it many times, but when I turn it on, it just flashes a ton of buttons. when I turn on the bottom, the tops lights turn on. when I turn on the top, the bottom lights turn on. Idk what to do, it’s been 3 days of fixing this pos

Did you power cycle it? (Unplugging it and plugging it back in) maybe that’ll reset the circuit board, which seems to be a failing part on your machine.

@@FansOfGames I unplugged the machine for about 17 hours, and another time for 10 minutes. I drained it for the same 17 hours and 2 more times for 5-30 minutes. I also drained out the back pipe by throwing the tube up and down, causing a suction to pull out some water. I still hear water inside when I spin the top washers bowl side to side.

@@FansOfGames oh, I also took off the front panel where the buttons are, then took apart the circuit board. I noticed samsung did a shi**y job at water sealing the board. Half the “seal” areas were half covered. But I didn’t see any leakage inside of there. The only issues I can see are the lights blinking, half the lights not blinking & no/faint noise when pressing them, and lastly the water being still inside the top washer

I have the same issue. My wife and I have opted to just not use the top washer for the past year. Any solution found yet?

I don't think there's much else you can do other than not use the upper washer. The problem just comes down to really flawed engineering by Samsung and I don't think there's any sort of "fix" for it. I made a video going into my whole thought process and testing different things with the machine to try fixing the problem, if that interests you. Does it hold more than that? Seems a bit of a waist if you can't load it up a bit more.

It could technically fit more, but I don’t like loading it with much past that because of all the water it uses, it struggles to move the clothes around and truly scrub/clean them when it gets too full.

I had one of those and absolutely hated it. It seems like it only washes with a teacup of water (bottom unit) and the top one would periodically leak.

The top washer leaking is a huge problem, agreed. As for the lower washer, it really depends on what cycle you use and how much you put into it. On the cycles it does sensing for, it’ll probably use slightly less, but it still uses enough (in my opinion) to clean the clothes. I’ve also watched it complete numerous cycles and found that it actually adds more water as the cycle progresses, so by the end it’ll have much more water than the start.

I really wish I could but the upper washer has leakage issues that are a pain to address after each cycle. I have one more video coming out about it. It’s not a full cycle, just talking about the cause of the leak. I have videos of the lower washer running though if that interests you.

My conclusion is that the softener compartment didnt drain in time and in result overflowed maybe try cleaning it then running it on a hot cycle then try it again if it still dose it try without softener as it might just not like it and overflow

That’s what I thought at first, too. I tried cleaning it, but it was perfectly fine, and it only does this when we run it with clothes. Running it empty works perfectly fine, no leaks. I actually did a test to figure this out (video will be coming soon) and I came to the conclusion that the clothes along the side of the drum cause backflow. Believe it or not, the softener compartment enters the drum through the holes actually in the drum (like along the sides) not through a nozzle like the main wash water. So the clothes being along the side of the drum after a spin block the holes which blocks the softener from entering the drum. The water will exit one way or another, and if it can’t exit into the drum, it will overflow the dispenser. The dispenser is open to the main cabinet of the machine, and thanks to a big hole on the bottom of the cabinet, the water leaks onto the floor. This was a very long explanation but it’s the best way I can describe my findings.

Not worth it crappy I've had issues with this washer. The top washer is crap it leaks and turns sensors on so my bottom won't work

I think it’s meant for doing 2 loads at a time, like heavy duty on the bottom, delicate on top, for small loads, lightly soiled loads, or things like that

The quality of Samsung washers is shameful, starting with the fact that the Upper Washer is a poorly made copy of LG's Pedestal Washer. Waiting for the day that Samsung will also launch the Tower Washer and Dryer, as LG creates.

You said it! And I think Samsung already has, but their system allows you to control the dryer from the washer panel even though they are separate units. So if you stack them then they could be considered a copy.
