This worked, more or less. Had charged this phone the phone back in late March to see if I could byass the password again after a year of no use. Almost four months later in late July, it still had 92% battery charge (was off during that time), and I really didn't want to wait 2-3 days until it drained so I could do the first trick. Now, because I couldn't turn it off without a password, I used the trick he suggested of restarting and holding whichever button while it did so to open the boot menu. Worked for me.

The second one worked for me but it doesnt erase all the passwords. It senses an unauthorized factory reset but as long as google is set up on the phone you can complete the reset

Hard resetting doesn't boot into this menu. You boot into it a different way. Plus, you need to remove your Samsung and google account or know both logins if they are linked other wise you will have two more separate logins rather than just the pin

Alright I tried most of this, it works for the most part but I didn't want to lose my data etc. So I restarted my phone through the hard reboot menu, reboot the phone option. Once I restart the phone it was still locked on a different pin, so I held the power/volume down at the same time until the screen went black, as soon as it turned black (while still holding the buttons down I slid to volume up and the phone restarted on its own, from there I put in the new pin I set earlier before it glitched. This method only worked for me when I tried to set a new pin from an old password. So in short, I restarted the phone once through the hard reboot menu then I tried the hold power and volume down then up once the screen goes black and it restarted on its own, from there enter the new pin and it should unlock, I guess it's a lag sort of thing, like the phone is trying to catch up, I don't know but that is how it worked for me. Hope this helps someone who doesnt want to lose their data, sorry for the TLDR

I did it with my phone powered on. I had to quickly do the step to access the recovery mode after a force restart, however, I took 3 tries. I kept holding for too long and so it would just restart the phone.
