Unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro 360, as well as some initial comparisons to last year's Galaxy Book3 Pro 360.
It'll be interesting to see how much of a difference the new Ultra CPU and Intel ARC graphics make, videos coming soon.
Please note there was a Poll during a previous video asking which one should I get - The Ultra or the 360 Pro. When I ordered this 3 days back, the score was 9 votes for the 360, 6 for the Ultra.
I've been using these 2-in-1 Galaxy Book Pro 360 laptops since the first iteration, and what attracts me to them most is the Wacom EMR S Pen experience. The amazing AMOLED panels as well, they really are nice to look at.

@@faizalskhan95- I'll be testing that all out this weekend. From early reviews I've seen, it apparently gets about 1 hour longer battery life compared to last years, so you can expect roughly 7 to 8 hours at max brightness in the lower performance profiles. If you reduce the brightness some, it will go considerably.

@@abhiramsrivastava2977They claim up to 21 hours, but that aint happening. You'll get 14 hours best case roughly in a low performance profile, and roughly 7 to 8 hours during typical use. I'll be putting the battery through it's paces this weekend.

Welcome to the channel, appreciate you stopping by. The S Pen experience is definitely better on the tab s9 over any of the galaxy book laptops. It's more responsive, the air actions pull up faster, and it just feels like an overall more polished s pen experience on the tablet. I think the latency is about the same, but everything else is better on the tablet.

Thank you so much! I haven't dug into the s pen features yet, but will be doing a lot of that this weekend. I can guarantee that there will be a s pen comparison video between this years machine and last year's, I like to put that one out every year. We'll see how the new s pen stacks up, I hear it's better this year.

@@RADERTECH Just a hint, at least for the artists out there... the pen is already very accurate and reliable. The missing items are the ability to fully customize the pen button, pressure, etc. I tried out the galaxy book2 and had to return it because there were too many issues with samsung drivers (air commands) and what I needed the pen to do. I figure the pen will be the same as it was before regarding all of the above. But, i can hope, right? lol...

Hi! i just want to ask this question. I'm looking for a laptop that will suit my needs in terms of designing a house/building and rendering products. Is the Integrated GPU capable of that? Loving the features of this one since it can bend 360° and comes with a pencil. Or should I just get the book 4 pro instead?

For your use case, I would definitely go with the book3 pro 360 over the regular Pro model. The S pen features wacom emr tech, so it's about as good as it gets. I haven't tested the GPU performance yet, but that's coming very soon.

Thank you so much, I appreciate you! It's about the best option out there for note taking, and can handle most demanding apps well. Well, I should say I'm basing that off the book3 pro 360 that I've been using for the past year, I haven't tested out this new model yet. Last year's model had no problems with Visual Studio or Davinci Resolve, so I'm expecting this one to handle those tasks just fine. It's large renders and high bit rate 4K edits that it will struggle some with. But if you're not into 4K edits, I think you'll be pretty happy with it.

Thanks for stopping by again my friend. It's the latter of the 2, it behaves just like another drive and gets assigned a drive letter. You can drag and drop or setup whatever backups you like to it, just like it was an internal drive.

is the screen coating/finish the same as the previous pro 360 models? i hope not, because the previous ones have been absolutely awful dealing with glare/refecltions compared to the regular Pro models that do a wayyyyyy better job at reducing glare..

Is there a cover for the keyboard when in the Tablet mode?

Nope, it just rests on where you put it. There are little knobby things to help lift the keys up a bit, but not by much. It honestly feels really weird at first, but you sort of get used to it, but never fully - if that makes any sense. On the plus side, the keyboard becomes disabled when in the mode, except for the fingerprint scanner. That's a good thing, it helps with unlocking it fast by just reaching around quickly.

Thanks for stopping by! It's really hard for me to say yet without putting the CPU and GPU through it's paces. From an aesthetics and ports standpoint, there's not really any differences. But the new ARC integrated GPU and Meteor Lake CPU might be really good, I'll know more after I put it through tests this weekend.

Did you look at other brands and models before making your choice? My top criteria for a 14" laptop are: 1. Intel Core Ultra, 2. OLED screen and 3. Weight < 1.5 kg = 3.3 lb, lighter is better. I am down to the hp Spectre, Asus Zenbook 14 and Samsung Book4 Pro. Any advice? Thanks.

Thanks for stopping by and for you new support, I appreciate you. It's sort of a long story, lol. This channel started with a video on the original book pro 360, and I've been upgrading every year, mainly for my subscribers. This year though, I did a little voting poll between the Ultra and Book4 Pro 360, and surprisingly the book pro 360 came out on top. The 3 models you're looking at are all excellent, and they trade blows in different areas, and are also so similar. I personally prefer the galaxy book for the s pen and the samsung ecosystem integration. But, it those aren't factors for you, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, especially since they all have nice anti-reflective screens this year.

@@RADERTECH Thank you for the detailed reply. I looked at some laptops at Best Buy today. Samsung is glossy but much less reflective than most other OLED screens, and Book3 and Book4 are about the same for displays (as you mentioned in another video). CPU and laptop weights are not subjective like display properties. All things being equal I lean toward the Samsung but they are not. I have a S24 Ultra and that's another factor.

Really looking forward to your performance review especially in the gpu department as this now has Intel arc graphics! Can you test some midrange game titles and see how the Temps/fps fare vs book3 ? Thx! In an ideal world they should have given the book4 ultra spen support, since it's already touchenabled😂

I'll be doing that for sure with Davinci Resolve, but sadly I don't have a license for the Adobe tools, and I'm probably not the best guy to demo it. I've only used Lightroom a handful of times, and have yet to ever try Premiere Pro. But hopefully the Davinci Resolve video gives you a pretty good idea of where it stands. We'll be covering gaming too, that's for sure!

QUESTION: My fingerprint sensor does not function and in settings it says its unavailable, as well as facial recognition, for Windows Hello. That leaves me w/PIN only (which I despise). I contacted both Samsung and Windows support and neither can fix it. Did I buy a lemon???

Responded to your previous question, here's the response - Thank you so much! I'm working on quite a few videos for this machine at the moment, keeping me very busy. So I've had that issue happen a couple times, on both last year's and the book2 pro 360. But I don't recall ever losing the option entirely, just that it stopped recognizing them and I had to redo my fingerprint. There's no facial recognition though, not on these galaxy books, so that should be greyed out. I would first check for Windows Updates and also Samsung Updates, as there's quite a few that come through in the early goings. Also, instead of going to the Windows 11 section, try just searching for Fingerprint from the Start menu, and go over the regular fingerprint settings, you'll likely be able to set one there. One more last option - Open up Samsung Device Care and do a Factory Reset. I know it sucks, but during the Setup process, you should be prompted to add a fingerprint. I show this steps in the unboxing video. One of these should get you going. I don't think you have a dud, it's likely driver related or it's because you're looking in the Windows Hello section. Can you please check out Samsung phone app on this laptop? Mine doesnot seems to work properly with my S23 ultra phone. It keeps discounting and the caller doesn't hear me. It has alot of problems the contacts doesn't sync, call history is also not avaliable. Tried each and every bit of Samsung setting, tried reinstalling the app multiple time still doesn't get fixed. Also Buds 2 pro seemless connectivity also doesn't seems to work with book 4 pro 360 and S23 ultra. Please make a video on the same issues Rader! Thanks!

I think I saw that same review. It was from a smaller channel like mine, and he ended up returning it for the Ultra because there was an issues with the Intel ARC graphics driver in his region. Looks like another awesome 2 in 1 laptop this year, for me I'm going to stick with the book 3 pro 360. I don't mind upgrading phones every year because the trade in deals are ok but there is no laptop trade in here in the UK so no real point upgrading until the performance difference is massive.

Nope, they stopped integrating it about 4 years or so ago. The last model that I recall that had it integrated was the Galaxy Flex. That was an awesome machine, it even had qi wireless charging right in the touchpad. It's tough. I honestly just keep mine in the white box that the laptop ships in, and just take it out on the rare occasion I use it, or often I'll just use the s pen from my tablet. Perhaps a travel bag that has a couple compartments would work well. Thanks for stopping by.

Nice video as always... Last year, I bought the Book3 Pro 360. Unfortunately, 16GB RAM isn't enough for my kind of picture editing workflow with Adobe programs. Also, the S-Pen button isn't programmable, which makes working in Photoshop more complicated. So I pre-ordered the Book4 Ultra this year (will arrive in 2 weeks). Unfortunately, in Germany you can't trade-in last year's notebook (only smartphone or tablet), which is kind of a bummer. As goodies you get either a Galaxy Tab A9+ (64GB) or a Odyssey G55C gaming monitor, Galaxy Buds FE and a 4-pack of SmartTag2.

There's a video all about it here on the channel. It last amazingly long, much longer than precious galaxy books. Well over 10 hours, and that's at max brightness in Optimized mode (light duty stuff).

i have been using this same gb4 pro 360 from past week in Canada, previously using gb2 pro 360, but i am exchanging gb4 because my model has some issues 1. Ram usage on idle is around 50% when using any chrome or youtube 1 tab only it reaches 60% and up easily. 2. battery is around 5-6 hrs on just watching youtube on 1 tab or so, or even basic web browsing 3. it is heating little bit when 4 tabs on chrome are open 4. screen is flickering frequently 5. touchpad missing my touches even though gb4 is way better in build quality thab gb2 pro 360 and screen quality is phenomenal, and the anti glare helps a lot more than shown in ur test, when working on desk or lap or laying down, i did not notice any glare.. lets hope my exchange item is free from issues, if not then i will stick to my previous laptop and return it too

I have seen some of those issues pop up in the first few days since release including screen flicker. I have had the Galaxy Book Pro and Pro 3 and both were a hot mess at launch, especially the OG which was unusable at times. It took 6 months and over 30 updates to fix stuff. The Book Pro 3 also had issues but was quicker to get fixed though it took 10 months for the trackpad to improve, but it is still subpar versus MacBooks.

Most of those things are likely due to updates still headed your way. There's a ton coming through on my machine right now, and like last year's book3 pro 360, the driver situation appears to be a little rocky in some regions, but that will resolve itself in short order. The one thing that's concerning that you mention though is this: 4. screen is flickering frequently That's odd, and hopefully your next unit doesn't do that. That shouldn't be happening. I'd start with a check of the drivers in Device Manager to make sure it's not a driver issue, I've seen a couple vids where that's been a thing in other regions.

i updated everything from windows to samsung to intel's drivers, everything , but nothing worked for me.. for ur full review of the gb4 please mention the battery time with web browsing and other office related work too.... P.S. i am big fan of your work , i bought gb2 pro 360 just because of u and loved it, and i can bet no other youtuber does so thorough testing and review like u do.. my gb2 pro 360 was stone cold even at higher loads in initial 6 months or so but after my windows updates it ruined every bit of my experience, i started searching for a macbook, and i was about to buy one then i realized that i cannot deal with macOS at all. if my next unit is bug free i will turn off all updates forever, even if security is compromised...@@andyH_England

I still have my GB2 Pro 360 and it works fine for my purposes. Although the display on the GB4 360 Pro would be a super nice upgrade even though I'm not a gamer, it's hard for me to justify the cost of $1500.00 USD after a trade-in credit of $500.00. For watching multi-media, I use my Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra which is terrific, and it wasn't a cheap addition to my Samsung eco-system. But you are correct in that it is rare to see Samsung offering any type of trade-in credit for one of their laptops. That is a big incentive for those interested in tossing another $1500.00 (more or less) into Samsung's coffers, which I don't think I'm inclined to do at this point. There will always be something new, faster, better, awesome, etc. in future offerings from Samsung as they strive to compete and differentiate themselves against the likes of Apple, which at that point might be worth an additional expenditure if there are clearly leaps and bounds of improvement in both performance and applications on the 360 Pro, such as an option for discrete graphics for those gamer-types as well as a 32GB RAM option for creatives, advanced video-editing, future-proofing, etc. I'll wait for a foldable 360 PRO with one or more of those features, if and when that happens. JMHO.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I like this color though more than last year's darker grey though. It's not nice looking per se, but it makes it much easier to see the keyboard in low light, since the keys are quite a bit darker.

Agreed, 100%! And ditch the num pad while they're at it so the trackpad gets centered. That would be a real nice machine. I think the Pro has a 14" option, but I know for sure the 360 doesn't, and it really should.

Hi Rader! I also have the Book 3 Pro 360 and Book 4 Pro 360 with me side by side and I also notice the speakers are pretty much significantly improved on the Book4 ! Much wider and way more expansive, Samsung could have easily touted this in their marketing :) One thing I did notice. The screen seems ever so slightly dimmer on the Book4. If you pull up CNN and look at text against white background at max brightness did you also notice the Book4 screen is maybe 10-20% less bright ?

I do notice that, I noticed while making the battery life test video I just dropped. But, when I turn on Vision Booster, that all changes when there's a lot of lights around. It is kind of weird though.

Oh my, that's a tough one. The s pen experience is better on the tab s8 ultra, that's for sure. It really comes down to if you need a laptop, or if you have already have that covered. If you have a decent machine, I'd probably hold on to the tab s8 ultra and would trade-it in when the tab s10 gets released in a year. $700 trade-in sure is tempting though. Either way, know that you're not getting screwed over either way you go, so you'll be good either way :)

It remains very expensive in the UK, £1800 for 16GB/512GB. More expensive than last year but the base was 8GB/256GB then. No 5G option or 32GB option, so Samsung upselling to the Ultra if you need more RAM and obviously if you need a dGPU. But the Ultra at £3150 for 32GB/1TB/4070 is Apple premium-pricing! I have the Book3 Pro so not seeing a reason to upgrade as I use Bluetooth speakers when watching media (miles better than internal speakers). I do not play games so the upgrade from Iris to Arc Graphics is not important, but welcome, with Intel finally catching up to AMD's iGPU.

Well, I know how it works, lol! I've been using them on these galaxy books for years now, since the first book pro 360. But yeah, that's one of the main reasons. Folks also like the ecosystem integration features and how light they are. The screen is something else too, they put a real nice panel on these machines. Thanks for stopping by!

I don't think it'll get that low that quick, but it will drop a lot. Especially after 2 years goes by, that's when it will start to hit rock bottom, just like the book2 line now.

There are THREE glaring things that keep me from considering these: 1) Lack of a 32 GB RAM option. As someone who's a 30+ year Professional Graphic Designer who uses Adobe Products, 16GB especially for a "PRO" model is not good enough. It will never be. 2: Windows 11 Home. A "PRO" version should have a "PRO" operating system. This is just total bullshit on Samsung's part. 3: This last one is cosmetic, but that awful large chin on the bottom of the screen is absolutely useless and serves no purpose except highlighting Samsung's poor design. They really need to get rid of it. It's not on their phones or tablets, so it contrasts with their design language. EXTRA CREDIT: The price is outrageous!!!

The chin bothers me every year, I feel you. For 32GB, you'll have to go with the Ultra. For intense Graphics work, it's probably the better option for you anyways.

@@RADERTECH Thanks for the response! I have a Dell XPS 7390 2-in-1, 10th Gen i7, 4K with 32GB of RAM, and the thing is still really good. The Dell Premium Active Pen - PN579X is also a Wacom Stylus and it works very good, but honestly it's not the S-Pen. I'm thinking about the new ASUS Duo with the two 3K OLED panels. It comes with 32GB of RAM, Ultra 9, a stylus and other extras for the exact same price. I'm not familiar with the ASUS Stylus with Microsoft's Pen Protocol (MPP) 2.0. so we'll see...

That's a really good question, it leaves me baffled too. My only guess is that the Dolby Atmos stuff is licensed from Dolby, and maybe they have something worked out where they can't ship them out with it enabled. I don't know though, just a crazy guess. I hope so too. We're seeing the same single core performance as last year, and a 12% bump up in multi-core. However, the Intel Arc GPU is legit compared to Iris XE. Over 60% improvement, it's pretty legit.
