That was always the case with 45W charger vs 25W. Meaningless impact despite the big difference in Ws. Even for bigger size batteries like Tab S7, the difference is very small to the point I sold the 45W charger. Samsung in this regard, is well behind, and I do think it is because they are playing it safe, the Note 7 explosive memories are still hunting them.

Higher wattage chargers give you quick boosts of battery charge in the mid-range capacity. Once you hit a certain mark the battery management system kicks in and begins limiting the charging speed. This is how they end up damn near even at the end. So, if you constantly find yourself needing a quick charge from 20 - 80%, grab a 45 watt, it will be marginally quicker. If you're a night stand charger while you sleep, stick with a 25 watt

Thanks for this. Such a shame Samsung didn't do it properly and put two batteries in the Plus and Ultra. Like OnePlus do. It's why they can have such fast charging without damaging the battery. It's actually charging two batteries at normal speed but they're half the size so take half the time to charge.

The entire advantage to 45w charging is to add charge from very low, up to a useful 60-80% - They have never had a NOTABLE difference in 0-100% as tested to death on the Note 10+ I have several of these, and recently put 65w PPS/PD in bith of my cars, for Samsung phones and DJI Drones.

Is it possible that the old 45w charger throttles and therefore is unable to sustain the highest voltage? It would be nice to see how other chargers, such as the ones from Anker or Spigen perform when compared to Samsung's.

Are you using the newer 45W charger?! The older one charges at around 27-28W, thus asking! Edit: You've purchased it from Amazon so I'm assuming it's the older one! Still, is there a way to verify this?!

Which part numbers have the chargers? Old TA845 isn't compatible to S22U and S22+. To get the full potential you need the EP-T4510, then you get about 11% more charge after 30 minutes: 55% at 25W 66% 45W kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jJx_Z8WqmrDWmHU.html 3:54

This tests is the same results people got with the 45w charger on the S20 Ultra and Note 10 Plus.

They did this same BS with the Note 10 and S20 Ultra, they gave it 45W charging and it ended up being basically the same as 25W. I was hoping they upgraded it but I guess it's the same thing. Hopefully an update can fix it

they can't make any upgrade over the already AMAZING S21U ... even cameras are all some edit tweaks that you may like or not ....,,, this S21u will stay a king for another 1 year.

So I use a 45 Watt charger for mornings before I go to school because it takes a hour and half to charge my phone from 10% to the 85% battery protect setting spot when I set the phone to not fast or super fast charge. When I have it set to super fast charge from 0%-85% it takes 47 minutes. So for me it's a big help. I don't like to charge my phone overnight so it doesn't at 85% for most of the night as that isn't great for the battery. I also try to only super fast charge when I'm in a rush so at the rest of the times I just set the phone to shut off fast charging and super fast charging.

Im really not impressed with the £40 price tag for the new 45w charger... Its the first time they have ever made one, so should come with the phone... The whole point of not including a charger is because the prior ones were the same, so was wasteful and therfore "saving the planet" (cough making extra money cough...) They can't exactly use that excuse now though can they?...

The 2021 flagships have better battery life and that's more important to me than a slight difference between photo quality that an average customer wouldn't notice.

I find it very interesting that the s21 ultra was that close to the 45w charger. Sound like Samsung was on some bs with that whole super fast with the new 45w.

45w is only during the first few minutes when charging from zero, then it drops off rapidly. I have a cable that shows the wattage, and it always starts out around 20w (I have an S22 non-ultra and it's rated at 20 or 25w max) then it starts dropping until it's only 10w after about 70% charged.

I'm sure you could get less charging times if you'd leave the phones alone while they're charging. Turning the screens on and off affects the charging speed.

Those results are surprising, I would have expected the 45W charger to be a lot faster from 0 to 60-70%. I wonder if Samsung uses some weird proprietary charging voltages and currents that a standard 45W PD charger can't supply. The S21 ultra surprises here too, showing that it's hardly worth it to go to 45w bricks.

People are forgetting you're getting better quality. USB cable nice and firm feels strong. Even the plug is nice compared to the 25w charger

Thanks. I think having the screen on the entire time and constantly checking the charge in tests may not show how fast it can actually charge. When I'm in a pinch and need power I often turn the phone off all together and charge or at least turn off wifi and leave the screen off. All that being said it still seems like the 45w charger is a minimal improvement at best.

Seeing the same for every test on this, not surprised Samsung lied with their claim of 45W charging. I don't understand why companies like Samsung refuse to upgrade their charging speed, One Plus is blowing everyone out of the game with their insane charging speed! Don't waste $50 on a 45W charger your standard 25W charger does just as good!

Did you use a 5A (amper) cable with the 45 watt charger?. It should appear "Fast Charger 2.0" on the display. If not, it steps down to 25 watt charging power.

At the end is better to charge it slow because that would take care of the battery

Thanks but your test should 100% include those special USB cables that show how many Watts are going into the device (power indicator) - only £12 each, that way you can see in real time what each charger is giving out. From 80% to 100% they will be much the same. As others say try another 3rd party charger, must a "PPS" 45W version.

I have a 25w charger for my s22ultra. It loads fast, like rlly fast. You DON'T need a 45w charger trust me

I have both 33w and 65w GAN chargers from Xiaomi and both are compatible with Samsung AFC charging protocol (tested on my Tab s7). I'm pretty sure this is compatible with other Samsung devices as well. The 33w charger produces a max output of 25w, while the 65w charger maxes out at 45w respectively. Charging time for the 33w charging is around 1 hour and 30 minutes from 0-100%, and on the 65w charger, it takes only around 80 minutes. Both of these chargers are cheaper and more compact than the chargers from Samsung.

Might have been mentioned but here is the skinny (and what should have been included in this video)... while the Ultra _can_ charge at 45 watts, it almost never does. Truth is, it seldom even charges at more then 25 watts. This is why it does not charge much faster then the other S22 and S21 models. I used a USB cable that displays wattage and even down to a 50% charge, the phone only accepts 23 watts. Down to 40% is charges at 30 watts. So, you are almost never going to see 45 watt charging. Even when you do, it will be for a very short amount of time. You are also only going to see more then 25 watt charging once you get under 50% charge. Obviously Samsung knows this and set it up this way. So saying that the S22 Ultra charges at 45 watts really amounts to a fallacy. This is further proven by the difference in charging times. Now we just know why.

You can't say "fast charging" and wait an hour and a few minutes for one charging.
