It's very relevant, my S8+ is still stupid good enough, despite it's burn in and I even dropped and just slightly shattered the screen. It still has higher Pixels per inch than the S23 ultra. It still has a 3.5mm audio port I rarely use anymore and is much thiner with more rounded edges. The usb C broke years ago but it still charges fine with wireless and I don't even care that it's not updating the UI. Its not like I surfe the dark web on it anyway. Am I really going to buy an unlocked $1400 S23 ultra for a slightly bigger screen and slightly faster animations and a much worse standby battery life. I don't know that the S23 ultra is enough without all the very most premium features like the S pen and 1Tb memory and fancy cameras. No iris scanner, only 1.06 more GHrz clock speed, only like 1600 more pixels but yet an 8k camera like really? Same pixel width, WTF. No digital compass or G sensor.

It is adorable that samsung has made such a reliable and good looking phone (more handsome than s23). I am still using s8 (since 2017). It is still fast enough, but the battery drains fast. the biggest problem it does not get updates anymore. ı am thinking about replacing it with s23 or iPhone 14 pro.

@@AhmedCSamatar ı have been using s23 for one month. Everything is good but, fingerprint sensor was much more sensitive in s8 (there was an external sensor for this)and, i was able to measure my heartrate in s8.

S23 is better in my opinion. I just switched from iphone and its refreshing to be on an android again. But if youve been on android for a while, try iphone and see how you like it

I have my s8 with no volume rocker, no bixby button and the power button glued by a tape. A hairline crack on the top. But I tell you, you can't beat the in hand feel of s8.. 😁

If the S8 was still getting updates i would have used it for at least other 2 or 3 years, it runs very well nowadays, has 1440p display that now is only on the Ultra and aesthetically i'm still in love with it completely

it's true that it's pretty crazy to know that the galaxy s8 plus has the same resolution as the galaxy s23 ultra while the s23 and s23 plus are only 2380 *1080, the galaxy s8 plus is 2960*1440 the galaxy s8/plus has a much better dpi than the galaxy s23 ultra ( 5.8/6.2 inch vs 6.8)

Thank you. I LOVE my S8 Plus! Had no intentions of getting a new phone for now but I foolishly leaned against something and my screen cracked. Phone still works fine but it forced me to upgrade to the S23 Ultra. I will really miss my S8. Probably the best phone I've had 😢

I still use my S8+, my phone dropped down the stairs and it cracked a little in the corner but I don’t really care.

I still use the S8 as my main phone. This phone can do almost everything today's phones can do. It has the headphone jack, wireless charging, water resistant, samsung pay and more. I don't have burn in or battery issues at all on my device. I'll hold it until the zf5 price drops to my liking!😊

It's annoying how good the s8 is after 6 years. I feel like Samsung is trapping us, because the s8 will still be good for another many years. They made the s8 generation proof. I still use my s8. Even though I have an iPhone 12, the s8 has screen burn, but s8 still has the better display. The s8 is a fun phone to use and my Dad and Bro still use it...

I was almost convinced to buy a new Samsung this year. But my S8 does everything I need. It is just a bit laggy, but I use it for 5 years! I bought it when it was already a previous model, and it still rocks. At this point I think that when it breaks then I will change the phone. I suspect 7 years will be this point.

I came from s8plus to s23 plus a week ago. I can say that I prefer UI on s8 more, but in other aspects s23 much better (battery, screen, speed) :)

I think it's finally worth a upgrade from the S8. It really sucks they don't do a SD slot anymore though. I've got a lot of music on my S8 and would need to remove songs to make it all fit. They really need to bring that back.

SD cards and internal storage must run at the same speed (for some reason), and SD cards are slow af. That would prevent the impressive storage speeds today's top phones achieve.

@@popovicialincatalin Maybe at start up. Don't put your games or pictures on the SD. You can manage that. They could put more store on there too. We should have at least a terabyte on phones by now. It's 2023! We have M.2 slots now on PC. You can't tell me that it is not possible to put a terabyte in there by now.

Thanks so much for this comparison! Like many others here, I sadly am facing having to upgrade from an s8 simply because of the old OS and it not supporting certain updates anymore. My work email won't be supported anymore later this year due to the lack of sufficient security with the Android 9 OS. Otherwise I'd be keeping it much longer.... it really has been an awesome phone.

s8 here too from 2017... I lost the count how many times I replaced the battery and the screen. it looks like new. waiting for the flip 5 to see if they improved the screen issues - dead pixels on the crease etc

Just traded in my S8 plus for a S23 plus, S8 worked like a beast only reason why i traded it was its be 6 years wanted something new, excellent build quality for old samsung phones. hopefully when the new phone arrives it gonna be pretty awesome too

I actually just sealed my S8 in the return package and am using my S23 lol. Same as you I never had an issue with the S8 this entire time. Even with cracks and screen missing in the corners from drops, I only got rid of it because the middle screen went non-functional and the power button kept falling out 😅

I went from my S8 to an S23+ also. Not because the S8 failed me, but because it was time. The upgrade is huge. Hopefully this phone lasts another 6 years!

I upgraded to the S23+ from S8+ today and am baffled by the display color quality. It's just horrible imo. It's washed out and dull. My S8 is vibrant with bright colors. I've spent hours adjusting settings and researching how to fix but am not finding it. I will be contacting Samsung. This is likely a deal breaker for me and there are hundreds of complaints online as well 😢

Just went from the S8 to the s23 for free at BJ's Wholesale. Wasn't looking to upgrade, but a 800$ trade-in value for the s8 was a no brainer. Clerk said it was 1000$ trade in a couple weeks ago. Samsung At&t promo program.

Yesterday, my sim card no longer registers on my S8. Since I can't recieve calls or text, it might be time to upgrade. I'm going to miss the headphone jack!

I'm still going strong with the s8. Battery kinda sucks and some things are little slow, but I have a wireless charger accessible 90% of places I go, and it's in great physical shape: no burn in or cracks or anything. I'm probably due for an upgrade but it's hard to justify when this thing is still working so well

@@sirjokewither1224 no, it has the original battery which still gives me a full day of use. The only thing wrong with it is that there a some small cracks under the screen protector and some minor screen burn but other than that it works perfectly. It'll be 6 years in a few months.

I just swiched 3 days ago from a Samsung S8 that I used daily since december 2017 to a Samsung S23. The S8 holded great but now the battery just couldn't hold electricity. Hope S23 is build with the same quality in mind.

i reALLLLY like the bezels of the s8. It's perfect to me. Much nicer than the dot in the middle of the screen. Something about bezels just makes it more comfortable to look at slightly.

Still using my S8. Not impressed with these new Galaxies at all. Lower resolution displays look worse. Honestly, I don't have any interest in paying $1,200 for an Ultra to have the same display quality on my S8, and have things like the headphone jack missing. Genuinely, considering buying an iPhone 15 this time.

The display didn't really get better. The resolution is lower. The S8+ is UHD. If you're running a VR app in a headset, you can tell the difference.

I have both. In my opinion the S23 is a DOWNGRADE. So I went back to my S8 until Samsung realizes it. For me it was about convenience and smaller weight and size.
