Andrew, watching this video on my Tab S5e LTE 128GB + 6GB RAM and typing this comment on the keyboard cover. Totally agree, this device is excellent. I'm an Android user who's been stuck with the iPad Pro 10.5 for the last couple of years because of the lack of a good Android tablet. Didn't like the Tab S4 because of the high price with yesteryear's chipset and no fingerprint reader (iris scanner is not supported by Lastpass, which kills it for me). This Tab S5e is an absolute homerun in every aspect including price. Highly recommend it to everyone (PS. Even got one for my wife after one week, she's liking it too).

I have been used to a laptop and have just purchased this model - my first hand held device. The directions are so basic to be of little help to a newbie like me, and it would be helpful if you could start by showing it being charged, switching on, connecting to wifi, security etc and then how to find everything. How long does it take to charge up? My screen is showing 100% after only being connected to the mains for a few minutes, but the screen has now gone blank and can't seem to get it started again.

Hi Andrew, I'm a long time Galaxy device user (had 5 Galaxy phones - latest S10+ and 4 tablets - latest Tab3). I just bought the Tab S5e and love everything about it but the resolution and actual clarity (sharpness) and intesnity of videos and pictures. I went back and purchased a Tab 4 as well to compare. The S4 is fantastic like the other Galaxy devices I've had, but the S5e doesn't seem to compare. Is it me, or maybe I got a lemon (is that possible?). Any input or similar opinions would help me. I'd like to keep the S5e, but can't take the screen quality. Thanks.

I'm pretty happy to see Android tablets, especially sexy ones that don't feel like clunky also-rans. I'd much rather have this than an iPad. If only it had the pen support. I hope they hurry up with the S5 so we can see what it costs and if it's a good choice.

Thanks Andrew! Great first look! In ur full review, could you do a quick comparison btw S5E, ipad mini 5 and the mini surface go? S5E wins portable department, i think mini should win the performance, and the surface go should win productivity. Tough choice? with only $500 available (assuming device plus keyboard cover) , which one would you spend ur hard earned money? Thanks again!

Have you tried to hold it on the bottom left corner (horizontal orientation) to see if it blocks the wifi signal? This is becoming a rapidly growing complaint with this tablet so I'm wondering if you have had a chance to test that?

Thank you, great, first look! Could you take a deeper look into Dex? I've heard not all of your installed apps show up there, and what happens if you use a 3rd party launcher? Can you change icons in Dex and customize it at all? It's a shame they left out S-Pen support, would have been the perfect tablet otherwise!

I wish they would stop holding the pen for ransom! Having to wait for the S5 just to pay even more for the device and the pen is highway robbery, in my opinion. Keyboards, for many of us, aren't as important a tool as the Spen. Looking forward to your full review nonetheless. It's still a bit more than I care to spend on it, but I guess "mid range" devices are now what I used to consider premium. At least the speakers on it makes it a good tablet for media consumption. However, I bought a 44" television three months ago for $250! Hmm!

The high price is exactly why Android tablets are nowhere near as popular as Ipads. If they were at least a third cheaper many more people would buy one. At the current price all you're getting is an overpriced, underpowered smartphone with specs that certainly don't match the price.

@3:52 If you plan to do heavy productivity work with it, I would suggest to buy a tablet stand and use a proper mechanical keyboard instead, even though something lighter than a subnotebook has a weight-advantage. The keyboard cover is a ripp-off, as always. :)

It's paper thin! 😬 My gf put $155 towards this, plus a $30 Amazon gift card + $15 off using Amazon app. I ended up paying about $$165 out of my pocket. I'm not a TV WATCHER I love watching watching movies and content on my phone. But 6" is too small now at my age. So I wanted a tablet. So this works perfect for streaming media, web surfing with such a gorgeous display. The s4 is $500 right now. Much faster device. But at that price point it doesnt make sense for me to just browse the net and watch netflix lol.

@@pranaym3859 - If that's the case and Samsung aren't willing to change or compromise (either use a cheaper screen or reduce their margins on AMOLED ones), they'll continue to struggle to shift their tablets in big numbers. There is no point having a top notch screen if you can't make the most of it because the tablet isn't powerful enough to run anything remotely demanding, or because it's missing features that should come at that price e.g. the S-pen.

@@jaysmith2858AMOLED screens are much expensive to make and don't say for margin even the lowest quality Amoled screen is almost cost twice than that of LCD and Samsung is using high quality screen And this device is clearly one of the best media consumption device and for processing power it is plenty for Netflix and KZfaq For $38K you can get Audi Q3 and Mustang V8 both are good vehicles but serves different purpose

@@shalansharma443 - It wouldn't be if the specs were a bit better/up to date and there was S-pen support. For that money you can basically get a flagship level phone or a reasonable laptop. Tablets are basically smartphones with a big screen but minus a few bells and whistles. I just want a tablet with a decent processor, graphics chip and a good amount of ram and storage. I/we shouldn't have to pay circa £400 for something that barely meets those requirements.

@@shalansharma443 - It's older processor and graphics chip means that it won't run certain apps/games (inc emulation) right now, never mind in a year or two's time. For £450 you can get a Pocophone F1 with flagship specs, never mind the cost of similar level devices such as the Redmi line for example. Also the S5e does not support the S-pen, meaning your only option for that is the even more expensive S5 or the older S4. All you're getting above a low-mid tier phone is a big screen and some big speakers. For £400 I expect a bit more than that.

I found the speakers on this model to be thinner sounding than the S4. It vibrated more too. I had them side by side, and was not as impressed with this speaker system, but I listen to different music.

If a normal thinking person was to put a Quality camera on a device... common sense would tell you to also put a flash on it..👉 common sense Samsung doesn’t have 🧐

I bought the 128 gb one in black for like 400$ dollars not in cluding the keyblard case that was expensive comming in around 128$ sp overall i spend 540$ w/ taxes Now i regret it because i could of bought the Tab S6 but no my stupod ass bought s5e but im grateful

Who buys a tablet for the cameras? I'd rather they ditched them and gave us a much better processor, more ram and more storage, and if it can be used an included S-pen.

The speakers are fantastic if you're judging them not just a recording of them using a microphone uploading to youtube.

Nope. I don't have any experience with android tablet speakers, but I've heard iPad/laptop speakers and android etc phone speakers and every decent $30 headphone crush them. Portable integrated speakers will never (?) sound remotely as good as external ones, even small ones or headphones. Comparing a speaker on a mobile device and a small set of Tivoli speakers, even in mono is like the other device was in a toilet in a tin can. tl;dr - this video is an accurate representation of what they actually sound like.

Buddy, they're advertised as AKG tuned blastermaster speakers. One of the selling points for some maybe. But that's ok, they're junk false advertising so that's ok I guess? Wtf are speakers if not... speakers? Sound exit holes?

@@circedge What i mean is why compare them to dedicated speakers. Everyone knows 'good' here means good by built in standards. What's the point of saying "speakers are junk" on a tablet review video when your only reasoning is because they're tablet speakers? "this video is an accurate representation of what they actually sound like." - Person who says they've never heard them Well you sound like a reliable source so it's weird for me as an owner who listens to them regularly that they sound excellent compared to this video. I must have magic enhanced hearing. They should study my super ears.
